00:00Morgan, congratulations. A lot of people in England don't know much about Lee Carsley,
00:05they play a lot of Premier League football, but don't know much about him as a manager or as a bloke,
00:08you clearly do. Can you tell us anything, apart from the fact he's clearly a good manager and a
00:13good coach because you won a championship, can you give us any insight into his character,
00:16what makes him special, what makes him, as you said, a potential permanent England manager?
00:21I think tactically you only have to look at our performances at the Euros last year,
00:29we didn't concede a goal, so that says a lot, not just going forward with the ball and how we play,
00:36but also defensively, how solid he was, and I believe he's the perfect guy for this job,
00:43tactically he's very good, very, very good, and his man management skills are very good as well,
00:50he's a good group. In your opinion, does it matter if he's never managed,
00:56you know, permanently managed a club side to get the England job?
01:03No, it's not something that I've really thought about, my job here is to come in and play football
01:09and try and help the team as much as possible, I believe he is the right manager for the team,
01:16and hopefully we can put our trust back in him and respect back in him for the games coming up.
01:23Hi there, it's just yourself, Angel, and Emil Smithrow, who have won both of the
01:29the 17s and the 20s, sorry, 21s medals, can you just talk a little bit about how that gives you
01:35the sort of belief, you mentioned earlier to Alex that you almost feel quite experienced as an
01:38international, but can you talk about the importance of that winning mentality being
01:43drummed into you as a young player?
01:46Yeah, I believe it's so important to have that winning mentality as a football player,
01:51and you want to win every game possible, and sometimes it's not possible, but that's the
01:57mindset, you have to go into every game, every tournament or whatever the situation may be,
02:02and obviously winning the World Cup and the Euros at a youth level, I've definitely gained that
02:09sort of winning mentality, winning experience, and it's something that I'm trying to bring now.
02:15How much has it helped you that, unlike some players who get in the team at 17, as you did,
02:21and then they just go straight like that, that you had that start at Wolves, then you went away
02:25and loaned Swansea, Sheffield United, came back to Forest and had 24, how much has that more
02:31rounded experience helped you, do you think, as opposed to if everything had just been easy all the way?
02:37I feel like the ups and downs in football in life really structure how you are as a person,
02:45as you get older. I had my ups and downs at Wolves, I have ups and downs at Forest,
02:50I have ups and downs every day, but it's just how you control that and how you bounce back from your
02:56downs. I feel like I've learnt a lot, and I think going out on loan and experiencing first-team
03:04football in the Championship was the most important thing that I've done in my career so far,
03:08just to gain that experience, gain that physicality.
03:13You're always aiming to win and to try and push on.
03:21I'm sure everyone in all age groups would acknowledge what a great job Gareth Southgate
03:26did as manager, but like in anything, like with the club and now with the national team,
03:32when a new manager takes over, is there a feeling amongst those players who maybe
03:36have been on the fringes that this is an opportunity, it's almost a new start?
03:41I think you have to look at it as a new start, to want to go forward and try and achieve something.
03:48Fair play to Gareth, he did an incredible job to make it to the finals last year,
03:55was obviously incredible. We know how hard it is to win a tournament,
03:58we've shown it, we've got the players, it's a very difficult thing to do.
04:03But I do really think we have to take a new look at it, not start fresh obviously,
04:11we still have to build on what we've done recently, because what we've achieved is good,
04:17it's better than what we've ever done since 19-whatever.
04:22We obviously need to build on that, obviously work on a few things and obviously I'm sure the
04:26Lee Carsley he's got is the right people behind him and he's working on things that can be improved.
04:33Hi Morgan, Angel was saying to us that he felt with Lee there was a coach that cared about him
04:39as a person and not just as a player, is that something that you've found yourself and can you
04:43sort of give examples of how he manages in that way? Yeah definitely, like I said before he's a
04:48great man-manager, always asking how you are as a person and how your family is and he just shows
04:56that he really really cares about his players and I feel like that's the best way to get the
05:01best out of the players, showing interest in their life and how they are as a person and I
05:07think Lee's great at that, give him time and obviously training and games and I think you
05:14really start to see the best out of the players in this camp.
05:22Have you spoken about the fact that it's Dublin and it could be a really hostile
05:29atmosphere at the weekend?
05:36We haven't really touched on it yet as I said because we had our first main session this morning
05:40and we'll have meetings in the next couple of days about the game and what to expect so I'm
05:45sure it'll be an incredible atmosphere and something that we'll all be looking forward
05:49to playing in and so yeah like I said we'll have meetings in the next couple of days of
05:55what to expect and how to go on and how to go on and win the game. Is that what you're
05:58expecting atmosphere-wise to be like a real kind of derby with that? Yeah I'm expecting the atmosphere
06:05to be really good, I think in any game you want atmosphere and I think for like a good atmosphere
06:12really drives the team on and the support from the England fans is always incredible
06:19so we'll be going there wanting to play for them and wanting to play for our country.
06:25Morgan I just wanted to ask, obviously you've had one training session with Harry Kane now
06:32and your game's built all on assists, you score goals as well, I'm not taking that away from you
06:36so please don't think that but the number of crosses you make, the through balls you play,
06:41the delivery, the service you provide, are you purring at the prospects of
06:46coming up with alongside England's all-time leading goal scorer?
06:50Yeah and hopefully I get the chance to play with Harry and what a guy he is, what a professional
06:56he is and just seeing the way he is day-to-day, he's a real massive role model and he's an
07:03inspiration for all the young players that are coming up and so yeah like I said I can't wait
07:07to hopefully play with him and he's the perfect striker to play with and so yeah like I said
07:14I can't wait to play with him and looking forward, really looking forward to it.
07:16There you go, spend it there, thanks for your time. Perfect, thanks guys, thank you.
