00:01:34Plenty of Belgians in this one.
00:01:35There's six of them.
00:01:37One rider from Great Britain and one rider from Holland
00:01:39in race number three, quarterfinal number three.
00:01:42Four riders trying to make their way through to the semifinals.
00:01:45Looks like one of the riders leading this one out
00:01:47is one of the riders from Great Britain, is it?
00:01:49No, it's not. It's the rider from Belgium.
00:01:51It's the 1-1-5 and the 1-2-5 here.
00:01:53The 1-1-5 and the 1-2-5.
00:01:55Matty Coomans and Stan Coomans.
00:01:57But there we see a rider all in black coming on through.
00:02:01Not sure who that was, but I can see Ronnie Wood in there
00:02:04in about four at the moment for Great Britain.
00:02:06He's going to be chased half by the Ravels rider in five,
00:02:09but he's going to hang on, I think.
00:02:10But who was that guy in third?
00:02:12The 1-0-8, that was Julien Tempels from Belgium.
00:02:15Yeah, we saw Finlay Monroe here in the whole shot,
00:02:19but this is still a one after the first turn.
00:02:21We will go and check it out.
00:02:23This is the 1-3-5, I think.
00:02:24The 1-3-5 of Finlay Monroe on the number one spot,
00:02:27the 1-2-3 number plate.
00:02:28That must be fast.

00:02:31on the three spot with the 1-3-1.
00:02:33It's Sebastian Hewitt.
00:02:34Hewitt, he is on the number three position.
00:02:36But there we go and check out the number four spot

00:03:12But at the moment, it's Arobi Jansen.
00:03:14She's 1-3 from three.
00:03:15Is this going to be four from four?
00:03:17We'll have to wait and see as she crosses the line.
00:03:19The 1-0-2, though, chasing her down.
00:03:21It's the 1-0-2 of Barbara Marova.
00:03:24We see the Danish rider there in three,
00:03:26the 1-2-9 and the 1-1-6.

00:03:33in there in four at the moment,
00:03:35coming down the last straightaway.
00:03:36She's made her way up to three now.

00:14:04Bridge, Anthony, Jorgensen and Remekers from Belgium in this one.
00:14:08Who's got the speed to take the lead?

00:14:17Looking good, that's Anton Anthony.
00:14:19Anton Anthony, a great Britain rider.
00:14:21Jayden Seaward.
00:14:22Seaward's in there in four.
00:14:23But he's not hanging around.
00:14:24Oh, the baggy bars in the last turn.
00:14:26But it's all safe.
00:14:27Because they're both going to get through.
00:14:28Oh, Seaward's being caught on the line.
00:14:30Does he hang on?
00:14:31I think he does.

00:15:05The 7-4-3, that must be, it's only Daniel K.
00:15:09And then, if I'm correct, on 4 we have Damien Kamper.
00:15:13OK, semi-finals will be at 6.25.

00:16:40To the lawn.
00:16:46Hi, guys.
00:16:47We're back in Parc Fermat here.
00:16:49And we're here with Luc Willems from BMX Circuit Zolder.
00:16:52I'll try and say it in the Belgian way there.
00:16:54Luc, how are you?
00:16:55I'm fine, yeah.
00:16:56OK.
00:16:57Was that the French way?
00:16:58Yes.
00:16:59OK.
00:17:00Listen, we took a bit of criticism at the Zolder track this year for the turns and stuff.
00:17:05But just come backstage here.
00:17:07Let everyone know what's going on with the track at Zolder at the moment.
00:17:10Andy, we had some severe issues with the track in April.
00:17:13So actually what we did, we have new grip plates on the starting gate.
00:17:18Completely new.
00:17:19New design.
00:17:20Very nice.
00:17:21And we already fixed the second corner with a new layer on it with extra grip.
00:17:28And the first corner will be done in a month or so.
00:17:33Oh, so before the winter sets in.
00:17:35Before the winter sets in, yeah.
00:17:36OK, good stuff.
00:17:37So the second corner was the one that everyone was sort of kind of like criticizing.
00:17:41But it's one of them, you know.
00:17:42I think the riders have got faster and faster over the years, whereas the track hasn't changed so much.
00:17:47So, you know, they just needed to take it a little bit easier maybe.
00:17:50Yeah, maybe.
00:17:51But I admit we had a small problem with some, yeah, there was a lot of moisture during the wintertime.
00:17:57And it went into the tarmac.
00:17:59OK.
00:18:00Yeah, and that was an issue.
00:18:01You can't get rid of it.
00:18:03And we see on, you know, pictures on social media, you get snow there in Zolder, right?
00:18:07Yes, we get once in a while we have snow there.
00:18:10Yeah, that doesn't help when it gets underneath, that's for sure.
00:18:13There's a lot of moisture that goes into the ground.
00:18:15But what about for the future?
00:18:16We all know they've spent a lot of money in Zolder on the velodrome and stuff.
00:18:19And it looks great, amazing.
00:18:21I'd love to go there one day.
00:18:22But what about for the track?
00:18:24Major overhaul at Zolder.
00:18:25Any news on that?
00:18:26Yeah, we have big plans.
00:18:28Plans, yeah.
00:18:30They are starting to become in a final phase.
00:18:33OK.
00:18:34The plan is to rebuild everything and to extend also the track.
00:18:37OK, good stuff.
00:18:38Yeah, so first and second straight will be at least 20 meters longer.
00:18:42New turns, it will be completely rebuilt.
00:18:46OK, good stuff.
00:18:47Well, I won't race it again then because I was tired after the Worlds in 2019 because it was a long track.
00:18:53But that sounds really good.
00:18:54But the main thing is if we go there next year, and I think the sort of dates and venues have kind of been leaked for next year,
00:19:00but we return to Zolder at Easter in 2025, the turns will be fine.
00:19:05Yeah, they will be fine.
00:19:07And it will also be the last time on that track.
00:19:11Yeah, so a bit of history in the making in 2025 before they build the track.
00:19:18Yeah, absolutely.
00:19:19Good stuff.
00:19:20Well, listen, it's good to talk to you, Luc.
00:19:22We always love going to Zolder.
00:19:23You know it's my second home.
00:19:25I know I did make a comment on social media about moving to Holland recently,
00:19:29but Luc did remind me that Belgium was my first home country.
00:19:32So I'll see you in Belgium one day.
00:19:35Luc Willems from Circuit Zolder there.
00:19:37That's great to find out about the track news in Zolder.
00:19:41OK, ladies and gentlemen, you're here at the final two rounds of the UEC European Cup.
00:19:46We're here with a couple of young Danish riders.
00:19:49We're just going to bring in these Danish riders.
00:19:51They speak good English, so that's always a good thing.
00:19:53Jolte Fendt, my good friend from Denmark here on the Purebike, of course.
00:19:58Jolte, you're here in the last two rounds of the European Cup.
00:20:01How has this season gone so far for you?
00:20:04Well, it could have been quite a bit better.
00:20:09Had some problem with my shoulders.
00:20:12Dislocated my shoulder like a month ago and two weeks ago.
00:20:18So it could have been quite a bit better.
00:20:22Except for that, it's been quite an all right year.
00:20:27This track here in Revelles is a little bit different to the rest of the tracks
00:20:31that we see on the UEC European Cup scene.
00:20:34But how are you finding this track?
00:20:39Yes, it's quite a good track.
00:20:46I did pretty bad in yesterday's training down the first straight,
00:20:49but I like the track quite a bit.
00:20:53It's pretty fun, pretty fun to ride.
00:20:55Okay, so all to play for today then.
00:20:57And I'll bring in this young lady here.
00:20:59Come forward a little bit into the camera.
00:21:00She's a little bit nervous.
00:21:02Tell everybody at home what your name is and what age group you race in.
00:21:05My name is Paulette Slytter and I race junior women as a second year.
00:21:10Okay, and how's it going for you so far, this junior women category?
00:21:14It's been okay.
00:21:15I've shown some positive things and, yeah, it's okay.
00:21:19Okay, and your best result this year in the European Cups?
00:21:22Fourth place in the Czech Republic.
00:21:25Okay, that's good then, right?
00:21:27Yeah, that's okay.
00:21:28Yeah, you can take some positives from that.
00:21:29There's always been a lot of good Danish riders, you know,
00:21:32older than you in the elite class, Simone Kristiansen, Dorthy Boller,
00:21:35all those sort of riders.
00:21:36Of course, you've got Malin Kjellstrup now.
00:21:38So a lot to look up to, yeah?
00:21:40Yeah, yeah.
00:21:41And do they help you, the older riders?
00:21:43Yeah, it's a big inspiration for me, so, yeah.
00:21:48And the World Championships next year in Copenhagen,
00:21:50looking forward to going back there.
00:21:52How do you think that's going to pan out?
00:21:55I think it's going to be good.
00:21:58Yeah, are they going to do much to the track, do you know?
00:22:01I think they're renovating the track right now, so, yeah.
00:22:05Okay, so good World Championships in 2025,
00:22:08and you will still be junior women next year?
00:22:10No, I'm under 23.
00:22:12You're going to go under 23, okay.
00:22:14And do you live close to Copenhagen?
00:22:17No, I live three hours.
00:22:19Okay, three hours.
00:22:21It's quite a long thing to do on the podium.
00:22:26Okay, ladies and gentlemen, you catch us here in the Parc Fermé.
00:22:28We're here with two riders from the Proficy Olati team.
00:22:31We have Ines Claessens and Nadine Eberhard.
00:22:35You're here in Belgium for the last two rounds of the UEC European Cup.
00:22:38Are you ready, are you fit to race this European Cup?
00:22:41Yes, I'm ready. I'm excited to race and give my best today.
00:22:45Okay, good stuff.
00:22:46Now, Ines is the younger sister.
00:22:48We've got young Jade in the background there,
00:22:50but she didn't want to be on camera.
00:22:52She says her English isn't very good, but I'm sure it is.
00:22:55We always talk about your sister a lot, or sisters,
00:22:59but your sister bronze medalist at the Olympics.
00:23:03What did that mean to you and your family,
00:23:05from an outsider looking in as a fellow racer and part of your family?
00:23:10For me, she's my example.
00:23:13It was really nice to see her doing a medal at the Olympics,
00:23:18because it was her dream.
00:23:20It was really nice to be in her corner and to live that with her.
00:23:26Yes, and don't tell your dad, but she did try her first beer after the race.
00:23:31I don't know if you know that, but it's a big secret maybe.
00:23:34I don't know, but listen, it's good that you've got family and friends
00:23:37that you can look up to, right?
00:23:40Listen, you're racing really good as well, I noticed this year.
00:23:43How are you feeling this weekend? Podium?
00:23:46Yes, that will be my goal, to podium in U23.
00:23:50Okay, good stuff. And Jade, what do you think Jade will do?
00:23:53I think she can win.
00:23:55She can win? Okay, what age group is she?
00:23:57She's 16 years old.
00:23:59Okay, so the 15-16 girls.
00:24:01Nadine Eberhard, she was out at the Olympics racing for Switzerland
00:24:05alongside Zoe Klaas. Nadine, how was your Olympic experience?
00:24:09It was amazing. It was so overwhelming.
00:24:13So many impressions, and obviously the racing was amazing.
00:24:20You rode really well. I think the only thing that we all saw on the TV,
00:24:24I was commentating back at home on one of the channels,
00:24:27was you went up onto the gate at one point,
00:24:30and your handlebars were all loose.
00:24:32You put your bike against the gate, the handlebars were all loose.
00:24:36How did that play on your mind?
00:24:38Well, it was kind of stressful, because I was focusing on the racing,
00:24:43and then I noticed it was really loose, so I was like, oh-oh.
00:24:48But I went back down on the 5m, and there was the mechanic and David,
00:24:54so I was like, yeah, it was okay.
00:24:56A bit stressed, but in the end the gate was good.
00:25:00That's okay. I mean, if you'd had Zoe's mechanic, my good friend,
00:25:03Rich the mechanic, he's here on one of my shirts somewhere,
00:25:07then you would have been okay.
00:25:10Well, it was something because of the crash at the race before.
00:25:15But listen, it was a good race, you performed well, and you're still young,
00:25:18so maybe the next Olympics as well, right?
00:25:21Yeah, absolutely.
00:25:22Another four years, there's no reason why you can't get to that next program.
00:25:26No, no.
00:25:27Good stuff.
00:25:28Listen, the track here in Revelles is a little bit different to most of the tracks here.
00:25:32How do you find it? It's a bit tight?
00:25:34No, I think the track is nice because the straights are long, so it's a nice track.
00:25:39Yeah, a lot of people are saying that.
00:25:40I'm questioning them on the track, but they're all saying they love the track,
00:25:43so that's good, right?
00:25:44You like the track, Nadine?
00:25:45Yeah, well, in general, I like the tracks that are a little bit different,
00:25:50so yeah, it's okay.
00:25:52Okay, good.
00:25:53Listen, good luck this weekend.
00:25:54Hope to see you in the finals and on the podium.
00:25:56And maybe Jade, too.
00:25:57If she learns some more English from the Claessens kids,
00:26:01then we'll see her in the next interview.
00:26:03Good luck, ladies.
00:26:04Thank you.
00:26:05Cheers.
00:26:06Okay, ladies and gentlemen, you catch us here backstage again in the Parc Fermé.
00:26:10We're at the last two rounds of the European Cup here in Revelles in Belgium,
00:26:13and we've got the homegrown talent here, Ruben Gomez.
00:26:16He's here racing this weekend on this tight track,
00:26:19former European Cup champion from 2023.
00:26:23Ruben, you're lying fourth in the standings at the moment,
00:26:25but how's this year been for you?
00:26:26It's been a bit up and down, I know, with World Cups and European Cups,
00:26:29but you're still fighting strong, right?
00:26:31Yeah, World Cups, I struggled a bit to put everything together,
00:26:34and every round I went out in quarters, so it was all right,
00:26:39but I expected to do better things on the Euro Cup.
00:26:41I did pretty good.
00:26:42I won two rounds in Czech Republic and Zolder, I did a podium,
00:26:46but then I didn't do Valmira and the one in Holland for preparations for the Olympics,
00:26:52but I'm still in fourth, and I still have a shot on the overall,
00:26:57but it's going to be really hard to beat Eddie here,
00:27:01but I'm on the gate, so I can do my best, and I will try to do it.
00:27:06I remember a couple of years ago here, we were here for the European Cups,
00:27:10and I can't remember which way round it was, but Eddie and another rider,
00:27:13was it Meye, had a bit of a coming together in the last quarter in one of the finals,
00:27:18so there's some space in that last quarter to make that move,
00:27:21and if Romain Meye is watching at home, he's battling the big C at the moment,
00:27:26so we wish him all the best, but listen, how was your Olympics?
00:27:29What an experience, right?
00:27:31Yes, it was a crazy experience, also with the crowd in France, it was so loud.
00:27:36It was really hard to keep my focus before the first moto,
00:27:41but overall it was a great experience,
00:27:43a bit disappointed that I crashed out on the first jump already in the LCR,
00:27:49but it was nice to experience, and hopefully we have another shot in four years.
00:27:54Yes, of course, you're still young, right? How old are you?
00:27:56I'm now 25, so four more years for sure.
00:27:59And one more after that, look at Joris Dordaey, 33.
00:28:02Yes, exactly, eight more years.
00:28:05Exactly, it's easily done.
00:28:07Listen, wish you the best of luck this weekend here in Ravels.
00:28:10The track, obviously, I guess you're pretty local, sort of,
00:28:14so how do you find this tight track?
00:28:16Yes, like you say, it's pretty tight,
00:28:18but I like the first straight because it's like a long drag strip,
00:28:21and if you have the first jump really good, you can make a lot of speed,
00:28:25and I'm not the fastest out of the gate,
00:28:27but I know I have the speed after the hill, I feel the speed is coming,
00:28:31so I will find my way to the front, hopefully, and we'll see what I can do from there.
00:28:35Okay, well, listen, good luck in the home country, racing your home European Cup.
00:28:40Hopefully we see you on that podium.
00:28:42Thank you.
00:28:43All right, cheers. Ruben Gober is there from Belgium.
00:28:45We'll see him out on track a little bit later on.
00:28:49Great, cheers.
00:28:50Okay, ladies and gentlemen, you catch us back here in the Parc Fermat area.
00:28:53We're here with a couple of the BVC Supercross BMX team here,
00:28:58Indy Littlehay and, of course, Bart Bakker.
00:29:02Listen, it's the last couple of rounds of the European Cup here.
00:29:05It's kind of the end of the season for most of the riders.
00:29:07How are you feeling going into these last couple of rounds?
00:29:10I'm feeling really happy because it's the last ones,
00:29:13but also really sad because it's the last ones.
00:29:16I'm really excited, though, for the races.
00:29:18Okay, and how are you doing in the European Cup this year?
00:29:21Not as I wished, but it's going pretty fine.
00:29:25Okay, good stuff.
00:29:26And this weekend, the track's a little bit different to some of the other tracks,
00:29:29so how are you finding this track here in Revelles?
00:29:32It's technical, it's pretty fun, so just fine.
00:29:39Okay, so you're going to hope to get up on that podium, right?
00:29:42Yeah, I hope so.
00:29:43Okay, well done, Indy.
00:29:44Bart, you've been racing a long time.
00:29:46Obviously, we know your dad very well.
00:29:49He's a bit of a legend around the stadium and in the Tribune.
00:29:54He likes a beer, but what about you?
00:29:56How are you finding things?
00:29:57What age group are you racing this weekend?
00:29:59I'm racing U23 this weekend.
00:30:01They're a big age group, a lot of categories together.
00:30:04I'm feeling good, so we'll see how the weekend goes.
00:30:08How has your year so far been in the world?
00:30:10Have you done World Cups and European Cups?
00:30:13I've done European Cups.
00:30:15I haven't been to Australia or New Zealand.
00:30:18European Cups have been up and down.
00:30:21I had to find the feeling in Sarajan and in Zolder.
00:30:24I had a crash in Zolder.
00:30:26Then I got the confidence back in Verona and got into the semis.
00:30:31As a first-year junior U23, it wasn't that bad.
00:30:34Yeah, it's a great age group.
00:30:35It's a good age group.
00:30:36It's a tough age group, that's for sure.
00:30:37Same with the women in the U23.
00:30:39Indy's only 15, so she's got to wait a long time before she gets to that.
00:30:43What about you?
00:30:44Do you reckon you're going to get in that final this weekend?
00:30:46I hope so.
00:30:47I haven't raced a race in two months, but we hope we get in the final.
00:30:50We'll see how it goes.
00:30:51There's 900 riders here this weekend.
00:30:53I think it's 850 today on the first day, but there's plenty of riders here.
00:30:57It's going to be some good racing on this track, right?
00:30:59Yeah, pretty much, yeah.
00:31:01What about that last corner, going into that last corner?
00:31:03It's quite a wall of death.
00:31:05Yeah, you have to watch out.
00:31:09Cover your inside, right?
00:31:11Yeah, just cover the inside and see what goes.
00:31:14Otherwise, Bart Backer's coming through.
00:31:16We'll see that.
00:31:17Okay, good luck, BBC Supercross Bites.
00:31:19It's good to see them in the Parc Fermé.
00:31:21Always one of the best-looking teams here on the European Cup scene.
00:31:26Okay, ladies and gentlemen, we're here backstage in the Parc Fermé.
00:31:29We're with the WCC-UCI World Cycling Centre team.
00:31:33Two of the riders here.
00:31:34We've got Manakova and Koukou from the Philippines
00:31:38and Manakova from Slovakia.
00:31:40You're here in Belgium for the last two rounds of the UEC European Cup.
00:31:44How has your season been so far?
00:31:47Well, so the World Cup season was cut shorter,
00:31:51but it was pretty good, traveling a lot.
00:31:55But, yeah, my European Champs, I finished quite good,
00:32:00so I'm happy with the season.
00:32:02And what about in the rankings for the UEC European Cup?
00:32:05Whereabouts are you? Do you know?
00:32:07To be honest, I have no idea,
00:32:09because this is my second European Cup in the lead.
00:32:12So I don't think I have any points.
00:32:14That's okay, but are you looking to make the final this weekend?
00:32:17Yeah, for sure.
00:32:18Okay, good stuff.
00:32:19And Patrick Kou here, roll the dice, as they say.
00:32:22He's from the Philippines.
00:32:23You've been with the WCC team for a while now.
00:32:26How's it been for you, these guys looking after you?
00:32:29It's been awesome.
00:32:30It's nice to have a team in pit with everything that you need.
00:32:34Usually with the Philippines, we're not this prepared at races and stuff,
00:32:38but it's nice to have Rich the mechanic,
00:32:40Josh Butson as our cameraman, our coach,
00:32:43and then as our substitute this weekend, we have Salome helping us.
00:32:48So it's been really nice to be with the WCC,
00:32:50and, yeah, they help us as much as they can,
00:32:53and we try and perform.
00:32:54That's all we've got to do.
00:32:55Okay, good. And you're racing elite?
00:32:57Yes, sir.
00:32:58Okay, and you're looking to make the final this weekend?
00:33:00That is the goal.
00:33:01I would love to make the final,
00:33:03but it's going to be a huge step for that one since it's my second elite UAC,
00:33:07so I would love to, and let's see if we can make it happen this weekend.
00:33:11Okay, and what about the track here?
00:33:12It's a little bit different to most of the tracks we see on the European and World Cup scene.
00:33:16How are you finding the track so far?
00:33:18The track is, I would say, it's pretty nice.
00:33:21There's just a couple of big rollers that I struggle with,
00:33:24but other than that, the track is pretty nice.
00:33:26Okay, good stuff, good stuff.
00:33:27And what about you, Dominika?
00:33:29How do you find the track here?
00:33:31I like it.
00:33:32There is a triple to jump into the first turn, so it's good.
00:33:35Okay, good. You like that one, yeah?
00:33:36I see a lot of people trying to jump it and not getting over it so well,
00:33:40some of the younger riders,
00:33:41but I think it's better to jump maybe than to try and double manual, right?
00:33:44Yeah, yeah, I think it's better.
00:33:46Okay, good stuff.
00:33:47Listen, good luck this weekend.
00:33:48Hopefully we see you both in the finals, maybe up on that podium.
00:33:52Thank you very much.
00:33:54That was the WCC World Cycling Centre team.
00:33:57Ladies and gentlemen, we're back here in the Parc Fermé,
00:33:59and we're here with one of the good teams here, Van der Haar,
00:34:02Meredith Van der Haar here,
00:34:04and she's part of the big race team here,
00:34:07and she's racing here in the last two rounds of the UEC European Cup.
00:34:10Meredith, we've seen you on the scene for a long time now.
00:34:12You're racing junior women.
00:34:14How's it been going for you this year?
00:34:16It's going pretty well.
00:34:17A lot of crashes, though, but we're learning from it.
00:34:21Okay.
00:34:22Jumping is going well,
00:34:24so I'm pretty happy with how this year has been.
00:34:29Okay, good stuff.
00:34:30And it's your first year in junior women?
00:34:32Yes, it's my first year.
00:34:33Okay, and so you expected?
00:34:36Yeah, more than expected, but not on the E-meter, so that's good.
00:34:41Okay, so you're learning.
00:34:42And this weekend here in Ravels,
00:34:43the track is a little bit different to normal tracks,
00:34:46but how are you finding it?
00:34:47I find it a pretty good track, a lot of pedalling,
00:34:50and I love that.
00:34:52You can get your power down, right?
00:34:54Yes.
00:34:55Okay, and what has been your best result in junior women this year?
00:34:59My best result is, I think, the finals on the European Cups.
00:35:05Okay, not a podium yet?
00:35:07One in Czech Republic, but that was third this year.
00:35:11All right, so maybe this today, maybe tomorrow, top step.
00:35:15I hope so.
00:35:16I mean, there's a good bunch of junior women riders here this weekend,
00:35:20so the competition is strong.
00:35:22But obviously, I think you're a good rider,
00:35:26you just take that confidence with you from previous races,
00:35:32and even when you were younger, and it can only progress, right?
00:35:35Yes, that's true.
00:35:36Yeah, okay.
00:35:37And one day, will you want to be at the Olympics, do you think?
00:35:41Yeah, I think that it's every athlete's dream to be at the Olympics,
00:35:44so we're working towards that.
00:35:46And what age did you start racing, if you don't mind me asking?
00:35:49I started because I always had to go with my brother to his races,
00:35:53so I was always there just being bored.
00:35:55So he said to me, oh, go right, it's a joke.
00:35:58So I did like one practice a week, and then it gets better and better.
00:36:02And now you're better than your brother, right?
00:36:04He's still more fast than me, so not yet.
00:36:09Is he younger than you?
00:36:11Yeah, he's two years younger than me.
00:36:12Yeah, that's what I thought.
00:36:13So he was younger racing, you were older, and you joined it a little bit later on.
00:36:17Yeah, I joined when I was 13 years old.
00:36:19Okay, good stuff.
00:36:20So you're quite young to it, really.
00:36:21I mean, a lot of riders in the junior WIM category would have been riding for the best part of 10 years plus.
00:36:28Yeah, that's true.
00:36:29It's been about five years now.
00:36:31Okay, good stuff.
00:36:32And rankings in the European Cup, have you looked at the rankings at all of the overall?
00:36:37Yeah, I'm second right now, so I'm hoping for a great weekend,
00:36:40so I can stay there and do the podium on the overall.
00:36:43Okay, and it's double points this weekend, don't forget.
00:36:46So you never know, right?
00:36:47Yeah, I will try to maybe be first, but we will see.
00:36:51Okay, listen, Meredith van der Haar, she's always a great rider on the track.
00:36:55We look to see her in the finals later on this weekend and hopefully on the podium.
00:36:59Well done.
00:37:00Thank you.
00:37:01Okay.
00:37:16Are you ready?
00:37:43Yeah, here we go.
00:37:44Semi-final on track and starting with the boys, they're only eight years old.
00:37:47Ladies and gentlemen, all in the first four, proceeding to the final here today.
00:37:51And we have Velasco, the model of his kids, Berger, De Bruyne and Koufos-Metroussic,
00:37:56the winner of last week in the three-nation competition.
00:37:59He is also in this one, and he is now, for the moment, on spot number four.
00:38:03So he has to stay on spot number four if he wants to go to the final, of course.
00:38:07So here we go.
00:38:08And we have the number one position here from Spain.
00:38:11That is Velasco.
00:38:12Then we have the A10, the loose tits.
00:38:14Then we have the A20, and the A20 is Kavisa for the UK.
00:38:18Then we have the local hero, Magnus van der Waal.
00:38:20He took the win last week in the three nations, and now he is on spot number four,
00:38:25ready to qualify for this event, BMX European Cup number 11.

00:38:37We're looking at the riders there and in front of the pack there.
00:38:40The rider on the single digit is going to be number four,
00:38:44Matteo Bougamassas from Latvia.
00:38:48819 chasing him through Oakley Hill from Great Britain.
00:38:51And then we see the rider there from Germany in three.
00:38:54That's the 805.
00:38:55The 805 leaving Belta.
00:38:57He's a belter.
00:38:58Look at him go down that last straightaway, in and out that last turn,
00:39:02into the last straightaway.
00:39:03I beg your pardon, but he's looking good.

00:39:15Kitchin, Mortensen, Davis, Van Der Sar, Haines, and Hoppenbergen.

00:39:22The 906 on the two-spot, it's Mortensen.
00:39:24Mortensen on the two-spot, three-spot is going to the 931.
00:39:27And the 931 is Jack Kitchin.
00:39:29Is it Dukie Magnus who crashed here in the second turn?
00:39:32I don't know.
00:39:33Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is.
00:39:35But in the last straightaway, ladies and gentlemen,
00:39:37we still have the 915 of Songaro on one.

00:39:51Yeah, check it out.
00:39:52He for sure looked good out the gate.
00:39:54But I don't think he's leaving this one out.
00:39:55Who is that?
00:39:56It's Luca Lamar.
00:39:57Is it?

00:45:44And oh, the elbows are flying out.
00:45:46Is he going to push him up too hard?

00:54:17It was one semifinal, one delay.
00:54:45It was one semifinal, one delay.
00:55:13It was one semifinal, one delay.
00:55:41It was one semifinal, one delay.
00:56:09It was one semifinal, one delay.
00:56:37It was one semifinal, one delay.
00:57:07Okay, we'll be back with the finals in 15 minutes.
00:57:117 p.m., 1900 hours.
00:57:13We'll be with the finals in 15 minutes.
00:57:37Hi, guys.
00:58:03We're back in the Parc Fermat here.
00:58:05And we're here with Luc Willems from BMX Circuit Zolder.
00:58:08I'll try and say it in the Belgian way there.
00:58:10Luc, how are you?
00:58:11I'm fine, yeah.
00:58:12Okay.
00:58:13Was that the French way?
00:58:14Yes.
00:58:15Okay.
00:58:16Listen, we took a bit of criticism at the Zolder track this year for the turns and stuff.
00:58:21But just, you know, come backstage here.
00:58:23Let everyone know what's going on with the track at Zolder at the moment.
00:58:26Andy, we had some severe issues with the track in April.
00:58:30So, actually, what we did, we have new grip plates on the starting gate.
00:58:34Okay.
00:58:35Completely new.
00:58:36New design.
00:58:37Very nice.
00:58:38And we already fixed the second corner with a new layer on it with extra grip.
00:58:44Okay.
00:58:45And the first corner will be done in a month or so.
00:58:49Oh, so before the winter sets in.
00:58:51Before the winter sets in, yeah.
00:58:53Okay, good stuff.
00:58:54So, the second corner was the one that everyone was sort of kind of like criticizing.
00:58:57But it's one of them, you know, I think the riders have got faster and faster over the years.
00:59:01Whereas the track hasn't changed so much.
00:59:03So, you know, they just needed to take it a little bit easier maybe.
00:59:06Yeah, maybe.
00:59:08But I admit we had a small problem with some, yeah, there was a lot of moisture during the winter time.
00:59:14And it went into the tarmac.
00:59:15Okay.
00:59:16Yeah, and that was an issue.
00:59:18You can't get rid of it.
00:59:19And we see on, you know, pictures on social media, you get snow there in Zolder, right?
00:59:23Yes, we get, once in a while we have snow there.
00:59:26That doesn't help when it gets underneath, that's for sure.
00:59:29There's a lot of moisture that goes into the ground.
00:59:31But what about for the future?
00:59:32We all know they've spent a lot of money in Zolder on the Velodrome and stuff.
00:59:36And it looks great, amazing.
00:59:37I'd love to go there one day.
00:59:38But what about for the track major overhaul at Zolder?
00:59:41Any news on that?
00:59:42Yeah, we have big plans, plans, yeah.
00:59:45They are starting to become in a final phase.
00:59:49Okay.
00:59:50The plan is to rebuild everything and to extend also the track.
00:59:53Okay, good stuff.
00:59:54Yeah, so first and second straight will be at least 20 meters longer.
00:59:58New turns.
01:00:00It will be completely rebuilt.
01:00:02Okay, good stuff.
01:00:03Well, I won't race it again then because I was tired after the Worlds in 2019 because it was a long track.
01:00:09But that sounds really good.
01:00:10But the main thing is if we go there next year, and I think the sort of dates and venues have kind of been leaked for next year,
01:00:16but we return to Zolder at Easter in 2025, the turns will be fine.
01:00:21Yeah, they will be fine.
01:00:23And it will also be the last time on that track.
01:00:27Yeah, so a bit of history in the making in 2025 before they build the track.
01:00:34Yeah, absolutely.
01:00:36Good stuff.
01:00:37Well, listen, it's good to talk to you, Luc.
01:00:38We always love going to Zolder.
01:00:39You know it's my second home.
01:00:41I know I did make a comment on social media about moving to Holland recently,
01:00:45but Luc did remind me that Belgium was my first home country.
01:00:48So I'll see you in Belgium one day.
01:00:51Luc Willems from Circuit Zolder there.
01:00:53That's great to find out about the track news in Zolder.
01:00:57Okay, ladies and gentlemen, you're here at the final two rounds of the UEC European Cup.
01:01:02We're here with a couple of young Danish riders.
01:01:05We're just going to bring in these Danish riders.
01:01:07They speak good English, so that's always a good thing.
01:01:09Jolte Fendt, my good friend from Denmark here on the Purebike, of course.
01:01:14Jolte, you're here in the last two rounds of the European Cup.
01:01:17How has this season gone so far for you?
01:01:19Well, it could have been quite a bit better.
01:01:24I had some problems with my shoulders.
01:01:27I dislocated my shoulder like a month ago and two weeks ago.
01:01:33So it could have been quite a bit better.
01:01:36And yeah, except for that, it's been quite an alright year.
01:01:42And this track here in Revelles is a little bit different to the rest of the tracks
01:01:46that we see on the UEC European Cup scene.
01:01:49But how are you finding this track?
01:01:55Yes, it's quite a good track.
01:02:00I did pretty bad in yesterday's training down the first straight,
01:02:05but I like the track quite a bit.
01:02:08It's pretty fun to ride.
01:02:11Okay, so all to play for today then.
01:02:13And I'll bring in this young lady here.
01:02:15Come forward a little bit into the camera.
01:02:17She's a little bit nervous.
01:02:18Tell everybody at home what your name is and what age group you race in.
01:02:21My name is Paulette Schlutter and I race junior women as a second year.
01:02:26Okay, and how's it going for you so far, this junior women category?
01:02:30It's been okay.
01:02:31I've shown some positive things and yeah, it's okay.
01:02:35Okay, and your best result this year in the European Cups?
01:02:39Fourth place in the Czech Republic.
01:02:42Okay, that's good then, right?
01:02:43Yeah, that's okay.
01:02:44Yeah, you can take some positives from that.
01:02:46There's always been a lot of good Danish riders, you know,
01:02:48older than you in the elite class, Simone Christensen, Dorthy Boller,
01:02:51all those sort of riders.
01:02:52Of course, you've got Malin Kjellstrup now, so a lot to look up to, yeah?
01:02:56Yeah, yeah.
01:02:57And do they help you, the older riders?
01:02:59Yeah, it's a big inspiration for me.
01:03:04And the World Championships next year in Copenhagen,
01:03:06looking forward to going back there.
01:03:08How do you think that's going to pan out?
01:03:11I think it's going to be good.
01:03:14Yeah, are they going to do much to the track, do you know?
01:03:17I think they're renovating the track right now, so yeah.
01:03:21Okay, so good World Championships in 2025,
01:03:24and you will still be junior women next year?
01:03:26No, I'm under 23.
01:03:28Oh, you're going to go under 23, okay.
01:03:30And do you live close to Copenhagen?
01:03:32No, I live three hours.
01:03:35Okay, three hours.
01:03:36It's quite a long, thin country.
01:03:38Well, listen, good luck this weekend to the both of you.
01:03:40Hope to see you on the podium.
01:03:44Okay, ladies and gentlemen, you catch us here in the Parc Fermé.
01:03:47We're here with two riders from the Proficy Olati team.
01:03:50We have Ines Claessens and Nadine Eberhard.
01:03:53You're here in Belgium for the last two rounds of the UEC European Cup.
01:03:57Are you ready, are you fit to race this European Cup?
01:04:00Yes, I'm ready.
01:04:01I'm excited to race and give my best today.
01:04:04Okay, good stuff.
01:04:05Now, Ines is the younger sister.
01:04:07We've got young Jade in the background there,
01:04:09but she didn't want to be on camera.
01:04:11She says her English isn't very good, but I'm sure it is.
01:04:15We always talk about your sister a lot, or sisters,
01:04:19but your sister bronze medalist at the Olympics.
01:04:22What did that mean to you and your family,
01:04:24from an outsider looking in as a fellow racer and part of your family?
01:04:29For me, she's my example,
01:04:31so it was really nice to see her doing a medal at the Olympics
01:04:37because it was her dream.
01:04:39It was really nice to be in her corner and to live that with her.
01:04:44Don't tell your dad, but she did try her first beer after the race.
01:04:49I don't know if you know that, but it's a big secret maybe, I don't know.
01:04:52Listen, it's good that you've got family and friends that you can look up to, right?
01:04:56Listen, you're racing really good as well, I noticed this year.
01:05:00How are you feeling this weekend, podium?
01:05:03Yes, that will be my goal, to podium in year 23.
01:05:07OK, good stuff. And Jade, what do you think Jade will do?
01:05:10I think she can win.
01:05:12She can win? OK, what age group is she?
01:05:14She's 16 years old.
01:05:16OK, so the 15-16 girls.
01:05:18Nadine Eberhard, she was out at the Olympics racing for Switzerland,
01:05:22alongside Zoe Klaasers. Nadine, how was your Olympic experience?
01:05:26It was amazing. It was so overwhelming,
01:05:30so many impressions, and obviously the racing was amazing.
01:05:36You rode really well. I think the only thing that we all saw on the TV,
01:05:40I was commentating back at home on one of the channels,
01:05:43was you went up onto the gate at one point and your handlebars were all loose, right?
01:05:48You put your bike against the gate and the handlebars were all loose.
01:05:52How did that play on your mind?
01:05:54Well, it was kind of stressful because I was focusing on the racing
01:05:59and then I noticed it was really loose, so I was like, oh-oh.
01:06:05But I went back down on the 5m and there was the mechanic and David,
01:06:10so I was like, yeah, it was OK.
01:06:13A bit stressed, but in the end the gate was good.
01:06:16That's OK. I mean, if you'd had Zoe's mechanic, my good friend,
01:06:20Rich the mechanic, he's here on one of my shirts somewhere,
01:06:24then you would have been OK.
01:06:26Well, it was something.
01:06:30Because of the crash at the race before.
01:06:33But listen, it was a good race. You performed well and you're still young,
01:06:37so maybe the next Olympics as well, right?
01:06:40Yeah, absolutely.
01:06:42Another four years. There's no reason why you can't get to that next programme.
01:06:45No, no.
01:06:47Different to most of the tracks here. How do you find it? It's a bit tight?
01:06:50I think the track is nice because the straights are long, so it's a nice track.
01:06:55Yeah, a lot of people are saying that. I'm questioning them on the track,
01:06:58but they're all saying they love the track, so that's good, right?
01:07:00You like the track, Nadine?
01:07:02Yeah. Well, in general, I like the tracks that are a little bit different,
01:07:06so, yeah, it's OK.
01:07:08OK, good. Listen, good luck this weekend.
01:07:10Hope to see you in the finals and on the podium.
01:07:12And maybe Jade too.
01:07:14If she learns some more English from the Clarsen's kids,
01:07:17then we'll see her in the next interview.
01:07:19Good luck, ladies.
01:07:21Cheers.
01:07:22OK, ladies and gentlemen, you catch us here backstage again,
01:07:26we're at the last two rounds of the European Cup here in Ravels in Belgium,
01:07:29and we've got the homegrown talent here, Ruben Gomez.
01:07:32He's here racing this weekend on this tight track,
01:07:35former European Cup champion from 2023.
01:07:39Ruben, you're lying fourth in the standings at the moment,
01:07:41but how's this year been for you?
01:07:43It's been a bit up and down, I know, with World Cups and European Cups,
01:07:46but you're still fighting strong, right?
01:07:48Yeah, World Cups, I struggled a bit to put everything together,
01:07:51and every round I went out in quarters, so it was all right,
01:07:55but I expected to do better things in the Euro Cup.
01:07:58I did pretty good, I won two rounds in the Czech Republic,
01:08:01and in Zolder I did a podium,
01:08:03but then I didn't do Valmira and the one in Holland
01:08:06for preparations for the Olympics, but I'm still in fourth,
01:08:09and I still have a shot on the overall,
01:08:13but it's going to be really hard to beat Eddie here,
01:08:17but I'm on the gate, so I can do my best,
01:08:20and I will try to do it.
01:08:22Yeah, I remember a couple of years ago here,
01:08:25we were here for the European Cups,
01:08:26and I can't remember which way round it was,
01:08:28but Eddie and another rider, was it Meillet,
01:08:31had a bit of a coming together in the last quarter in one of the finals,
01:08:34so there's some space in that last quarter to make that move,
01:08:38and if Roman Meillet is watching at home,
01:08:40he's battling the big C at the moment, so we wish him all the best,
01:08:44but listen, how was your Olympics? What an experience, right?
01:08:47Yeah, it was a crazy experience, also with the crowd in France,
01:08:51it was so loud, it was really hard to keep my focus before the first moto,
01:08:57but overall it was a great experience,
01:09:00a bit disappointed that I crashed out on the first jump already in the LCR,
01:09:05but it was a nice experience,
01:09:08and hopefully we'll have another shot in four years.
01:09:10Yeah, of course, you're still young, right? How old are you?
01:09:12I'm now 25, so...
01:09:14Yeah, plenty of time.
01:09:15And, well, one more after that, look at Joris Dordey, 33.
01:09:18Yeah, exactly, I have eight more years.
01:09:20Exactly, it's easily done.
01:09:22Listen, wish you the best of luck this weekend here in Ravels.
01:09:25The track, obviously, I guess you're pretty local, I guess, sort of,
01:09:30so how do you find this tight track?
01:09:32Yeah, like you say, it's pretty tight,
01:09:34but I like the first straight because it's like a long drag strip,
01:09:37and if you have the first jump really good, you can make a lot of speed,
01:09:41and I'm not the fastest out of the gate,
01:09:43but I know I have the speed, like after the hill, I feel the speed is coming,
01:09:47so, yeah, I will find my way to the front, hopefully,
01:09:50and we'll see what I can do from there.
01:09:52Okay, well, listen, good luck in the home country,
01:09:54racing your home European Cup.
01:09:56Hopefully we'll see you on that podium.
