00:00Hello, my name's Emma Chetcootie from Multistorey and we're here today celebrating Green Roots
00:08on the Meadow.
00:09Fantastic, it's an awesome project, so we're just in the town centre at the back of Prymark
00:14and we have a meadow.
00:17Well why not?
00:18Sandwell should be full of meadows and in fact this initiative is funded by Sandwell
00:22Council and it's supported by the New Square who wanted to create an eco-garden here and
00:29the meadow has been planted by local volunteers who will come back today for the first cutting.
00:34So the first cutting of the meadow is really important because it guarantees the meadow
00:38for next year.
00:39So the plan is to continue planting and growing things on the meadow, involving more community
00:45members, creating a story and interest around how important nature and the environment is
00:52in local people's lives for all of our wellbeing and for the environment and for nature and
00:57animals.
00:58And insects obviously.
01:00So we're also working with the Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust and this
01:04is an ongoing project so we'll be doing another event here next year so we hope we can do
01:10it a bigger and better event and involve more local people.
01:14It's been, you've got three hot dogs on the go, crafts, even a bit of live music as well,
01:19that's right isn't it?
01:20Yeah, we've got an interactive map with musicians who are translating sounds from West Bromwich
01:28through music, we've got craft stalls, we've got obviously the three hot dogs from Percy
01:34Hot Dogs and then we've got the wonderful performance by Open Theatre.
01:39So there's loads of things to do for everyone.
01:42Great stuff.
01:43Like it says on the bench, let's grow kindness.
01:45Absolutely, let's grow kindness and let's grow more interest in our wonderful environment
01:51here in West Bromwich.
