00:02The process of taking it from stage to screen.
00:04Well, they're similar.
00:06I mean, I remember going to,
00:09I spent my birthday in North Carolina
00:11with my aunties and my cousins and everybody
00:13and visited my grandparents' grave sites,
00:16my uncle's grave sites,
00:17and I was really pulling, asking, begging, pleading
00:19for their spirits to infuse the decisions
00:22I was making as the character.
00:24And I went back before we shot the film as well.
00:29It wasn't as long.
00:30I did about two weeks in Carolina before the play,
00:33and I did about like a week before the film.
00:36And I had a different, I was a different ask,
00:40a different proposition for them
00:41because of the movie and the experience.
00:43But I pulled from the same grounds,
00:45that red dirt rootin' tootin' newton.
