00:09For their contributions in science and technology, we have the first news, Von Aquino.

00:18Enhancing food security through science, technology, and innovation.

00:23This is the theme of the 73rd Annual Convention of the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology.

00:29This will serve as a platform for researchers, industry leaders, scientists, inventors, and academicians to discuss food security,

00:39strengthen agricultural cooperatives, and promote tech-based startups that support food security.

00:47As recognition for their contributions in science, technology, health, and innovation,

00:52ten outstanding researchers, scientists, and industry practitioners will be honored at the convention.

00:59The awardees should have done significant R&D in his or her field or area, and that the outputs of his or her research has been used widely.

01:13And of course, the other requirement is that he or she should be a model for the younger researchers.

01:26The awardees were asked about important issues in the country, such as food security, herbal medicines, flood control projects, and others.

01:35We are prioritizing feeding our cows and goats.

01:44To be able for us to address the protein requirement in terms of meat and milk.

01:52So I believe this is a direct influence and contribution to the food security program of our country.

01:59We're focusing on ferns, and we want to commercialize soon also our products such as the anti-inflammatory ointments.

02:08And for the public to benefit from the output of their research.

02:12Coordinating with other offices so that the inventions or the work of our outstanding scientists can be workable and accepted by our countrymen.
