00:00In May, GMA Capuso Foundation hosted the story of a mother who was affected by a worldview that affected her and her family.
00:16Now, SightSaving Month, she was able to clear her worldview thanks to the help of our partners and donors.
00:25At the same time as Liberty's worldview was affected in 2016, her husband's worldview was also affected.
00:35Her world became darker when her husband and children completely lost their worldview.
00:45Since then, her friend, Melinda, took care of her.
00:51Because of their love for medicine, they asked for help from GMA Capuso Foundation this April.
01:01We examined and operated Liberty at the Asian Eye Institute and underwent a second operation at the Ophthalmological Foundation of the Philippines.
01:13For Liberty, it was a cataract surgery plus what we call retina surgery.
01:20We operated her retina because that's where the damage from diabetes is.
01:25We had to peel or remove the membranes one by one.
01:31Then, we laser-treated her retina, which is what we usually do for patients with advanced diabetic retinopathy.
01:39The doctor also has an advice to maintain a clear vision.
01:44It's better to have a comprehensive exam that will check your vision from the front to the back.
01:50Now, Liberty is able to see colors and is able to count as well.
01:57Her medicine is still continuous and she is still recovering for the next operation on her left eye.
02:05I can see now, I can see clearly, but it's still blurry.
02:10But the good news is, according to the doctor who operated on my eye, there is a big improvement.
02:19My eyes are now clear.
02:21What color is that?
02:22It's blue, and my hands are now clear.
02:26Aside from this, we also made her a makeover so that she can regain confidence in herself.
02:34We also included Melinda.
02:36I like her. I am very happy. Thank you.
02:47An insurance vendor who we met is an inspiration.
02:52Because she was not forced to face the challenges of life even though she has a husband.
02:58Every day, she is bravely facing her dreams for her family.
03:03She is one of the people who were helped by the Jimmy Capuso Foundation.
03:12In the middle of a busy day, Raymark was riding his bicycle in Taytay, Rizal.
03:18He used his one hand to pick up the bags and pennoy.
03:24Raymark was born with a broken left hand.
03:28But this did not stop him from helping his mother.
03:32I am happy because he has become famous.
03:35He did something that helped me.
03:39He said, Mom, let's just discard this.
03:43When Raymark gets the bags, he will clean, cook, and sell them
03:50from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m.
03:54It's just the two of us.
03:57So that he won't have a hard time.
03:59I am the one who makes a way for him to eat everyday.
04:03I also share the food at home.
04:06Every day, he earns Php 200 to Php 400.
04:11He puts Php 50 aside for the dream of E-Buy.
04:15So that Raymark won't have a hard time when he rides his bicycle,
04:20he became one of the 5 individuals
04:22who were given by the Jimmy Capuso Foundation
04:25free arm and hand prosthesis, the LN4 Foundation.
04:30It is made of special plastic.
04:33It is a durable material.
04:35The materials are also not fragile.
04:38By these prosthetic hands,
04:40they can now hold any tools they need for their everyday work.
04:47It helped me a lot because of what I do every day.
04:51Thank you very much.
04:53Some of those who were given became victims of gunshots
04:57and accidents with the machines they use at work.
05:00The Jimmy Capuso Foundation in Oriental Mindoro
05:05to distribute arm and hand prosthesis and wheelchairs this Sunday.
05:11Free fishing for the livelihood of their families.
05:16That is what the fishermen from Aborlan, Palawan are asking for.
05:21Because of lack of income, they were denied by the Jimmy Capuso Foundation
05:25so that their children can have complete school supplies.
05:35Because of the tension in the West Philippine Sea,
05:41the fishermen from Aborlan, Palawan,
05:43are not able to go to the free island group.
05:50They are worried about their safety.
05:53That is why we used to earn 6,000 pesos per fisherman.
05:59Now, they are lucky to earn 1,000 pesos per fisherman.
06:05Now, we only catch cheap fish.
06:11We only earn a little.
06:13This is also what the Jimmy Capuso Foundation is asking for.
06:17They want their children to have complete school supplies.
06:20Those who are poor like us, we are just working.
06:27We want our family to live.
06:28We want our children to go to school.
06:30So, in order to continue the first step in the future project of the Jimmy Capuso Foundation,
06:37we went to Palawan with the Philippine Navy and Philippine Marines
06:42so that 2,400 students of fishermen and fishermen can have complete school supplies.
06:54We also reached Sitio Daan,
06:57a remote place in Aborlan where school supplies are limited.
07:05Here, it is hard to find school supplies.
07:08If there are school supplies here, like pencils,
07:11the most important thing is ball pens.
07:13It is a bit expensive.
07:14I am very thankful to you, ma'am, that the Jimmy Capuso Foundation came here
07:19because many of our mothers have problems with their children's school supplies
07:25and you helped them.
07:27I hope that these supplies will help and serve as an inspiration
07:32for the youth in their first step towards their dreams.
