00:00and the 2019 NFL season underway kickoff weekend. Hardman out of
00:13Georgia. Hardman slowed down and dropped. Shotgun from a Holmes on
00:20first down. Damian Williams is wrapped up behind the line of
00:25scrimmage. We'll see Jacksonville in the nickel quite
00:31a bit. The throw on second down and it is Tyreek Hill who was
00:36just rewarded with a big contract. On third and three
00:41they send Hill in motion. Mahomes looks that way now will
00:44fire and hit his man at the 40. Oh look out! Sammy Watkins takes
00:51it all the way. Explosion in Jacksonville. 68 yard touchdown.
01:00Now a mistackle in the secondary and that's all they
01:02needed to see for what? The distance. Just a hook route over
01:07the middle. He's got yardage for the first down. There's the
01:09mistackle. There's the opening in the secondary. Ramsey misses
01:13and see you later. Traveled to Bali and Thailand and Turks and
01:18Caicos found some solace. The extra point is good. And Harrison
01:24Butker will kick it off to Tyler Irvin as the Jaguars will try to
01:30put this to the side and refocus now. Sammy Watkins burns the
01:35Jaguars. Nick Foles and his Jaguars debut. It's a give for
01:39Fournette and he has spun down immediately. In fact, it's a loss
01:43of one as Derek Notti was over there. And he and his wide
01:47receivers expect, especially D.D. Westbrook can handle it.
01:51Fake it to Fournette. Foles, little sidearm toss to D.J.
01:55Charke. Kansas City already leads at 7-0. Shotgun. Foles
02:03lofts one out of bounds looking for Conlate who is a threat to
02:07score every time he touches the football, waits for it at the
02:1025. Remember the start Kansas City had last year against the
02:14Los Angeles Chargers week one. Charger tried to mount a
02:18comeback. Couldn't do it. Hill. Tossed out. Tyreek Hill, the
02:26timing was off. Doug Marontup trusted his defense and put them
02:31on the field deferring. And on the third play from scrimmage,
02:35Mahomes to Watkins for a long touchdown. Mahomes. Upstairs, he
02:39hits Travis Chelsea. And he's brought down from behind by
02:44Boye. And a touchdown for the reigning MVP. They go empty on
02:49first down in Jacksonville territory. Mahomes uncorks it.
02:52It's complete. Sammy Watkins. Moving down the field with ease.
02:59Tyreek Hill sets up in the backfield. And they'll give it
03:03to him. Hill looking for blockers. Ridden down as he
03:06crossed the 15-yard line. Avery Jones. This has got to be the
03:09biggest challenge going in the NFL as a defensive coordinator.
03:13How do you defend Mahomes and the Chiefs? Second and five.
03:16Mahomes delivers to the outside. It's caught by Williams. The
03:22Chiefs scored 30 or more points in 12 games last season. Third
03:28and three. A little trickery. Mahomes. End zone. Too high for
03:32Chelsea. Can add to the Kansas City lead. Butger with Colquitt
03:39holding. A snap from Winchester. He knocks it through. Tyler
03:43Irvin, one of the new faces here for Jacksonville, formerly with
03:48Houston, released by Baltimore. The return man. Over his head,
03:55coming out to the 25. Nick Foles.
04:01Eagles went 10 and three with Foles as their starting
04:04quarterback the last two years. Double tight end set O'Shaughnessy
04:07and Swain. Foles. Knocked away at the last moment. Jacksonville
04:14second and 10. Fewest offensive touchdowns in the league last
04:20season. 22. They had 25 total. Also the lowest. Cornett. Flag
04:27thrown with the tackle. Holding. Number 60. Offense. 10-yard
04:32penalty. Second down. So they get the touchdown from a new
04:39face, guys. But then a missed extra point as the kicking woes
04:42continue for New York. 10-0 lead here for Kansas City. Second and
04:4620 after the penalty. Foles. Protection holds up. Fires it to
04:51Swain. Spent so much time together in Philadelphia.
04:54Spagnuolo going on to win a Super Bowl with the Giants as
04:58the defensive coordinator. Third and 18. Foles gets out of
05:01trouble and delivers. First down toss to Conley with a flag
05:07thrown after the hit. To the head. Number 22. He says,
05:12Warren Thornton, the rookie. To initiate contact. 15 yards will
05:16be added to the end of the play. Automatic. First down. Good call
05:20to start that off for the season. All right, Gene. That
05:23was in a third and 18. So look where Jacksonville is. Set up
05:26the screen. A nice hop step by Fornette. Leonard Fornette.
05:32Get away from Frank Clark, who read the screen and was out in
05:36front of it. Hand off. Fornette. I think it did on that screen
05:42pass. Second and eight. Swain shifts over to the line.
05:49Bacon. Protection is there. Foles. Through the hands of
05:52Fornette. Last season. 24th in points allowed. Shotgun for
06:01Foles. Foles. Steps. Deep one. End zone. Caught. Touchdown. D.J.
06:10Shark. The over-the-shoulder grab. And a major highlight for
06:17the Jaguars. There to the last instant. And then through a
06:21perfect rainbow to the six-foot-four Shark. Watch the
06:25adjustment Shark makes over the shoulder under duress. Touchdown
06:30Jacksonville. You can't cover it much closer than
06:41Lambeau on for the extra point. And he converts seven plays, 75
06:46yards, three minutes. His mouthpiece in and his helmet
06:49ready. Jaguars kick it off. Logan Crook on the kickoff,
07:00which also puts Foles in a different position as that
07:03tackle was being made, as opposed to 95 just making this
07:07tackle on his own. You've got other influence there from
07:10being blocked into the quarterback as well. I'm glad
07:13they stayed off of it, personally, guys. All right,
07:15Gene. Illegal formation. Offense. There was no eligible
07:19receiver on the end of the line. Five-yard penalty. First
07:23down. It's currently getting X-rates. Nothing official from
07:26the team, but we'll let you know when we have it. All right,
07:29Evan. LaShawn McCoy is on the field for Kansas City. McCoy on
07:35a one-year deal. Toss it to the outside. Sammy Watkins wouldn't
07:39go down initially, and Watkins... It's going to be a
07:42fun year for Shady McCoy. Andy Reid said he's 31, but he still
07:49has that love for the game. And here is McCoy. First carry as a
07:53chief. They'll move the chains as he crosses the 40-yard line.
07:59The Holmes has him shift over on first down. It's McCoy. Left
08:05his feet. Picked up two. McCoy had some monster years in
08:10Philadelphia under Reid. Second and eighth. The Holmes on time.
08:15Tyreek Hill. It's a first down. I think I see a smiling Dan
08:19Fouts down there in Jacksonville. Back to Ian, Dan,
08:22and Evan. Yeah, he's smiling. The Holmes, he's smiling, too.
08:28Sammy Watkins. Touchdown. The Legion of Zoom strikes again.
08:38And those two scores. Little play-action pass. Protection.
08:44Awesome. And nobody, but nobody near number 14 as he coasts in
08:50the end zone twice now in the first quarter. Andy Reid just
08:57like he drew it up. Extra point is right down the middle for
09:01Bucker.
09:04Just don't see guys get that wide open in the NFL.
09:08Booming kick from Bucker. It's coming out to the 25-yard line.
09:12Sixth round draft kick. 24 years old. And he's thrown into the
09:16fire. Hand off Fournette. The hesitation from Fournette turns
09:25it into a five-yard game. We check in with Evan Washburn.
09:29Under two minutes to go now on the first. Minshew will throw it
09:32for the first time. It's complete. And now it's Gardner
09:36Minshew trying to do the same. Give this to Fournette. Turns
09:40the corner. Fournette tripped up. Looked like Fournette.
09:46Gardner Minshew at midfield. On the ground. Fournette grinds
09:54out. Two. Gardner Minshew at 4,776 yards, 38 touchdowns, nine
10:02picks last year at Washington State. Second and eight. Minshew
10:06standing in the pocket. Hits his man Conley. Turns it upfield.
10:09Conley is still going. Finally tripped up as he crossed the 30
10:13yard line. Mike Leach went out to play. Put up huge numbers
10:20inside the 30. Hand off Fournette. Flag down as Fournette
10:25is wrestled down at the 25 and a half.
10:29Number 75 offense. 10 yard penalty. First down.
10:35Minshew is listed at 6'1". Shotgun. First and 20. Minshew
10:41to Westbrook. Couldn't break away from Kendall Fuller. The
10:47last thing you're thinking about is you're going to be injured in
10:49the first quarter in your first game as a Jaguar. Second and
10:5415. Give it to Fournette. Ran into his own man. And Damian
11:02Wilson helped make sure that he wasn't gonna. Third and 13. Now
11:07for Jacksonville. Minshew operating out of the gun. Minshew
11:13dials it up and hits Chris Conley. Lambeau converts. Josh
11:25Lambeau now will kick it off. It's over the head of Hartman.
11:31It is a shoulder injury for Tyree Kill. His return is
11:35questionable. Sammy Watkins having a monster day. Faked the
11:39handoff. Mahomes the touch. Hits his man Travis Kelsey. The
11:45Chiefs are relentless. 252. They met last year. It was week
11:49five. Kansas City beat Jacksonville 30 to 14. Running
11:53play. Williams got to the outside. And Dale and Ramsey.
11:58They were 3 and 1 heading into that game. They finished the
12:00season 5 and 11. Injury riddled season. Mahomes swings it to
12:06Watkins. Breaks a tackle. Sammy Watkins is putting on a show.
12:11We're just really pulling for him to stay healthy and keep it
12:14together. You need 15 defenders to double team all these great
12:18receivers. First and goal. Mahomes. Too high. Williams in
12:27the backfield. Two tight ends. Kelsey and Bell. Second and goal.
12:33Fake it. Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes. From the gun. Mahomes
12:45in trouble. Mahomes loses the ball. That is recovered.
12:51For multiple fouls by both teams on the play. Illegal contact
12:54number 44. Personal foul. Swing and contact number 44. That
13:00player has been disqualified. Miles Shaq. Unnecessary
13:05unsportsmanlike contact. Jack wants some more. His teammates
13:15trying to calm him down at this point and just hold him back.
13:17Number 26. Unsportsmanlike contact number 11 on the
13:22defense. Mahomes is out of the tent and just testing his
13:29ankles. Number 11 on the offense. All those fouls offset.
13:33Replay third down. Najee Good steps in for Miles Shaq. This is
13:40a third and goal for Kansas City. Mahomes back in there.
13:44Keep your eye on Kelsey here. Mahomes looking. Mahomes throws
13:49underneath. Catch made by Robinson. Tried to circle to
13:52create an angle and he spilled out for no gain. Harrison
13:55Bucker has been as good as anybody. Under 40 yards. He
14:01drills it from 25. In Florida, Nick Foles done for the day. So
14:07the Jaguars have lost their starting quarterback. Miles
14:11Jack has been ejected. Graduate assistant coach under Nick Saban
14:16because he has desires down the road. Mike Leach basically said
14:22you want to leave the country in passing. In shoot. Deep ball.
14:25Separation. DJ Chark. Chark with a stiff arm on Ward. Chark is
14:32still going. Big play downfield for Jacksonville. Perfectly to
14:39Chark. On a give for Nett. And he's bunched up with a flag
14:46thrown at the seven yard line. Holding. Number 68. Offense. 10
14:54yard penalty. First down. Bad sign in a sling like that. First
14:59and goal but back it up to the 16 yard line for Jacksonville.
15:03Minshew. Make the handoff. Toss it to the flat. And Westbrook
15:07has no room to work. Second and goal. Four net. Single setback.
15:13Shotgun for Minshew. Minshew. Out of the pocket. Minshew the
15:20zigzag. Buys time. Minshew is down. They'll shift it. Lee will
15:27now go to the outside. Play clock is down to one. Minshew
15:30gets the playoff on third and goal. Pump and throw underneath
15:34to O'Shaughnessy. And he's wrapped up at the five. Fourth
15:37down. Short field goal attempt here for Josh Lambeau. Former
15:42Charger. And he's got it from 23 yards away. Watkins five
15:49catches 173 yards but Jacksonville hanging around here
15:53with their backup quarterback Gardner Minshew in. Josh Lambeau
15:57kicks it off and this one is coming out to the 25. One of the
16:02real good guys in the National Football League. Mahomes set up
16:07the screen. Damian Williams emerging from that crowd and
16:11Williams has got a big gain for a first down. Darwin Thompson is
16:16in. He's a rookie at a Utah State. Toss it to Kelsey. This
16:21time Jacksonville was ready for him with Quincy Williams. He
16:25can't step into any throws and he gets pummeled after he throws
16:27it on that play. McColl Hardman the motion man. And a cut
16:32through. Big play here on third and one. LaShawn McCoy will
16:41move the chains inside the 45. They went with an extra
16:44offensive lineman. Offense 329 yards for Kansas City. 222 for
16:53Jacksonville. Mahomes from the gun. Set it up underneath. Sammy
16:57Watkins. Watkins circles and turns it into a gain. Mahomes
17:05has gone over 300 yards passing in the first half. 302. Second
17:13down and five. Mahomes another quick hitter. Williams stop and
17:17go. He's got a little spin. And a first down. So a first down
17:23for Kansas City just short of the 30-yard line. Darwin
17:26Thompson is in. And they'll toss it to him. Thompson could not
17:30break away from Quincy Williams. Patrick Mahomes career
17:35high in any half in his young career. 312 yards. Fake it.
17:41Mahomes. Downfield. Nobody home. I know what to expect in that
17:48role. Third and seven. Mahomes flails it. And a flag down. The
17:55last moment released. Illegal contact. Number 21 defense.
18:05Potential grounding. Number 15 offense. Those fouls offset.
18:10Third down. Correction the foul is defensive holding on the
18:13defense.
18:16Got a 33 seconds to play in this action-packed first half. Low
18:22snap. Mahomes guns it. Knocked up in the air. Incomplete.
18:26Watkins got a hand on it. From 46 yards away, Butker. He nails
18:34it. And another big kick from Butker. They have two timeouts.
18:4824 seconds left. Minshew to throw it. Cornett. Stiff arm. And
18:56Minshew is 8 of 8. Second down. 19 seconds left. Minshew is 8 of
19:018. Minshew is 8 of 9. With a flag. It really puts an
19:09offensive tackle in a bind. Offense. 10-yard penalty. Second
19:15down. Added 13 seconds left. Minshew to throw it. And he does
19:24to Swain. Kansas City has won four straight season openers. The
19:30most potent offense in the league last year. Over the head
19:38of Irvin. So there's a comfort in that regard. And not scaling
19:42back too much with this playbook, guys. And Minshew is
19:459 of 9 to start his NFL career. Try to establish Cornett. Gets
19:51to the outside. Got to the AFC Championship game 2017. Lost to
19:56New England. A game where they had chances. Cornett. A spin
20:00move. It is just short. Carl Jeffers. Fouls by both teams on
20:06the play. Holding. Number 76. Offense. Tripping. Number 55.
20:12Defense. Those penalties offset. Second down. Yeah, the
20:15leg. Second and four. Minshew on a handoff for Nett. Lowers the
20:25helmet. I thought Mahomes was a myth. I was wrong. He is not. He
20:30is the real deal. He's become outspoken but very humble.
20:34Minshew squeezes it into Westbrook. He is 10 of 10 on
20:40the day. Initially looked like it was going to be Alabama as a
20:44backup quarterback. And then his life changed dramatically. Fake
20:51it. Minshew slings it. Oh, shot a seed. His mom, Kim, played
21:02basketball at Mississippi State. D.D. Westbrook. Another
21:07completion for Minshew. That's now 12 of 12. To now a third and
21:11three. Jacksonville in Kansas City territory. First possession
21:14of the second half. 23-13 Chiefs. Minshew on the give.
21:22Cornett's got a lane. First down for Leonard Cornett. And some
21:27good signs that we're seeing in the 2017 version of Cornett.
21:31Not the 2018 version. Motion man is Marquise Lee. Last year with
21:37the horrific knee injury. Cornett, good decision. The
21:40vision by Cornett cannot break away from Matthew. Gardner
21:49Minshew. Handoff for Nett. And he is swallowed up after
21:55picking up two. Guys who've got a real disaster on the back
21:59happening. Thankfully, no more on camera until postgame. Well,
22:03that's what you said. We could go to you seven times. Third and
22:07two. Minshew, the toss, the ball is free and scooped up. Breeland
22:16has got it for Kansas City. And the Kansas City Chiefs take over
22:23in their own territory at the 40. Mahomes gives it up.
22:29Returning starters three or four depending upon how you look at
22:33it with Sorenson. Mahomes. It's a low throw. Catches made by
22:38Watkins. And he is hit. 15 is just a round number that some
22:44guys will use. Third and one. At midfield. Running play, Williams.
22:53He's got enough. On first down, Mahomes gets hit and still
23:01delivers to Sammy Watkins. Eight catches, 195 yards, two
23:06touchdowns. Double tight end set, Kelsey and Blake Bell.
23:10Running play for McCoy. You just feel a different speed when
23:15McCoy checks in. Excellent receiver. So we haven't even
23:18seen that yet, that part of his game here with Kansas City.
23:24Damian Williams, not much there. Mentioned Josh Allen earlier,
23:29had the sack on Mahomes. Not called his name all that often
23:35though. And the sack was nullified with a penalty. The
23:38pass is complete to McCoy. You asked for it, you get it. First
23:45down motion man is Hardman for Kansas City. McCoy remains in
23:52there. Mahomes, offline. Heavily taped left ankle for Patrick
24:02Mahomes. Shotgun up in the air with a flag down. The ball popped
24:09into Mitchell Schwartz's arms. Offside, defense, five yard
24:16penalty, second down. So that's five penalties now against
24:21Jacksonville. Full receiver set, McCoy will be used on a second
24:25and five for Kansas City. They've got a 10 point lead on
24:30the Jaguars looking for more. Mahomes to the end zone,
24:34incomplete. They may get D.J. Anderson, Alexander. Number 36
24:39defense, five yard penalty, automatic. First down. Got a
24:45little nastiness to him too. Four straight Pro Bowls for
24:47Travis Kelsey. Mahomes, underneath Anthony Sherman. Hit
24:58from behind and Sherman comes up just short of the goal line.
25:04They send Williams to the outside. Give it to him.
25:12Williams trying to cut back and Williams is stood up. Second and
25:20goal. Watkins the motion man. Shotgun, moving pocket. Mahomes
25:24a dart, caught. Kelsey out of bounds.
25:31After the play was over, unsportsmanlike conduct,
25:34taunting. Number 36 defense, at the distance to the goal,
25:39automatic. First down.
25:4212th play of the drive. Mahomes on the game. Williams walks in,
25:49touchdown Kansas City. Damian Williams, point game.
25:57Good block by Mitchell Schwartz and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif.
26:03Undrafted in 2014 and now a big part of this Kansas City Chiefs
26:08offense. Right down the middle for Butger, extending the record
26:14held by the Chiefs. They crack 30 points and they lead by 17
26:20against Jacksonville. Shorter kick, Irvin is brought down shy
26:25of the 25-yard line. 220 to go here in the third. Jaguars in a
26:29hole. Gardner Minshew in a quarterback. A give to the
26:33wideout. Westbrook and a collision. There's nothing
26:37there. And Juan Thornhill helped make sure of it. A flag is down.
26:42Penalties piling up. Number 87 offense, 10-yard penalty. First
26:49down. Are you cutting a kicker on opening day? Just reading the
26:53tee lanes here. Thanks, guys. 30-13 here, Kansas City. Minshew
26:59has to eat it. We're in the sling. Collarbone certainly could
27:08be the issue. Nearly intercepted and nearly disaster, but Okafor
27:12could not hang on to it. Third and 23. They're going to play it
27:18safe. Fournette tried a number of spin moves and he's brought
27:25down at the 19-yard line. It's fourth down, 10-yard pickup for
27:28Fournette. Chiefs nation well. In some capacity. Apart from
27:34Logan Cook. Hardman settles under it. 15 seconds to play
27:42here in the third. Chiefs have the football. Mahomes with the
27:47toss to Blake Bell in Jacksonville. They're loud. You
27:50can hear them after positive Chiefs plays. This is a second
27:54and three to start the fourth quarter. LaShawn McCoy is
27:58dropped. McCoy in motion initially set up on the outside.
28:02This is a first down for Kansas City. Give it to McCoy. Nice cut
28:06up the field and look out. LaShawn McCoy takes it into
28:11Jacksonville territory with Wiley and Ryder blocking up front
28:16when it comes to McCoy. And that was an intricate handoff too
28:19because of the quickness that it happened. Damian Williams met by
28:24Ngakwe. Loss of one. I like it's all past tense too. Had, would
28:30have, would have, could have, should have, yeah. Maybe, maybe
28:33not. Flat down second and 11. Kelsey the catch. LaShawn
28:37Jackson just looks right as they have rallied against Washington.
28:40Number 90 defense. Five-yard penalty. Remains second down.
28:44Traven. Last team to lead the NFL in total offense back-to-back
28:51years, New Orleans. 08 and 09. Flag down again. Mahomes. The
28:56pass to Kelsey. Now the Chiefs were the most penalized team in
28:59the NFL last year. Number 93 defense. Five-yard penalty.
29:04Second down. LaShawn McCoy's longest run all of last year was
29:0828 yards. His last run went for 31. Mahomes. That's dropped by
29:14Hardman. Nicole Hardman with the series tied at 6 and 6. Third
29:21and one. Mahomes. The throw to Williams and makes two players
29:28miss. Seventh play of the drive with Mahomes operating out of
29:33the gun. He's got McCoy set up in the backfield. Give it to
29:39McCoy. Snakes inside and Andrew Wingard, who has stepped in for
29:44Ronnie Harrison, the rookie out of Wyoming. Second and goal.
29:51Mahomes. Pump and throw. End zone. Touchdown. Sammy Watkins
29:57has been a machine. Third of the day for Watkins. And going
30:03against the best and Jalen Ramsey. Watch this ball
30:09placement go perfectly in front of Watkins and away from the
30:13defender. Catches it in the end zone, is driven out of the end
30:17zone. And he and Mahomes started to really click during OTAs.
30:24Extra point from Bucker. And three touchdowns. He's climbing
30:32up the ranks in Kansas City history for a single game
30:35receiving performance. Returnable for Irvin. Stood up,
30:40dropped at the 21. Sorenson on special teams. Maybe chapter
30:45three or four. Coast to coast. First out here for the Jaguars.
30:50They trail 37 to 13. Toss it out to Westbrook. Minshew
30:54completes it at Okafor there defensively. They did get the
30:58big hit on Foles and that has gone a long way to the result
31:02that we're seeing. But they seem to be playing with a lot of
31:08coordination. Claiborne is suspended for the first four
31:11games of the season, but he should be a factor in the
31:14secondary. Minshew downfield. Complete DJ shark. So the
