00:01:26I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm
00:01:56going to do the same thing on the other side, but this time, I'm going to do the same thing
00:02:25very fabric of hyperspace on a collision course with the Earth.
00:02:42They easily overwhelmed the remaining Robotech defense forces and took control of the devastated
00:02:48planet.
00:03:00Okay, excuse me, but haven't we heard all this before?
00:03:05Well, every story's gotta start somewhere.
00:03:08Right, but everybody already knows about the InVid invasion of the Earth.
00:03:12What my listeners would like to hear more of is the war from the point of view of the
00:03:16Robotech Expeditionary Force.
00:03:19Does the military have any idea what caused the aliens to come here in the first place?
00:03:23Oh yeah.
00:03:25I'm sure you already know the war was fought over an off-world energy source called protoculture,
00:03:31right?
00:03:32Right, that's what I heard, but I've never understood why.
00:03:39One of the original Robotech masters, a brilliant scientist named Zor, discovered how to obtain
00:03:45limitless energy from the InVid flower of life.
00:03:48Now.
00:03:49But the race to control it only brought endless interstellar war.
00:04:08Oh no, the spores, the spores, they're going everywhere!
00:04:20Zor intended to save the Earth by destroying the remaining seeds of the flower of life.
00:04:28But his plan failed.
00:04:31The InVid became aware of the presence of protoculture on the planet and began their
00:04:35conquest of Earth.
00:04:43So I suppose you could say that Zor's good intentions only made things worse?
00:04:48Yeah, I suppose that's the best way to put it.
00:04:52Then what happened?
00:05:09The Robotech defenders were completely exhausted from so many years of combat.
00:05:18The InVid were well-supplied and battle-hungry, we didn't stand a chance.
00:05:41Our beautiful planet was turned into a giant slave colony whose only purpose was to harvest
00:05:47the flower of life and process protoculture.
00:05:50I still don't understand how and why you personally got involved in the war.
00:05:55In fact, I don't think there's a Yellow Dancer fan on Earth who doesn't want to know.
00:05:59Just call me Lancer.
00:06:01Oh, well, uh, Lancer, you were a soldier before you became a singer.
00:06:07How did Yellow Dancer come into being with everything that was going on?
00:06:11Actually, I always wanted to be a musician, but hey, if you want to hear the whole thing,
00:06:17I'll keep talking, but I have to warn you, it's a long story.
00:06:20The war's over.
00:06:21We have all the time in the world, right?
00:06:25I'd give anything to make that wish come true.
00:06:36Admiral Rick Hunter's expeditionary force returned from a mission to search for the
00:06:39homeworld of the Robotech Masters.
00:06:41It was the first of several attempts to regain control of the Earth,
00:06:45a plan that most of us hadn't seen in many years, if ever.
00:06:48Wolfpack, this is the 10th Mars Division.
00:06:50What's your AO?
00:06:51This is Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Wolfe.
00:06:53We're two clicks from point K.
00:06:55The Beratechs will be in position and will be ready for the final assault.
00:06:58Then we'll move out for the attack on Invid HQ at Reflex Point.
00:07:06This is Lieutenant Lance Velma.
00:07:07Yellow Squadron cleared for takeoff.
00:07:09Roger, Lieutenant Velma.
00:07:11Yellow Squadron is go.
00:07:12Roger that.
00:07:16Found the Invid in our coordinates.
00:07:18It's an airborne!
00:07:20This is Yellow Leader.
00:07:21The fleet's going to be vulnerable during re-entry.
00:07:23Intercept the bogeys and maintain cover on the cruisers.
00:07:26Dimitri, follow me.
00:07:27Roger, Yellow Leader.
00:07:30Lieutenant!
00:07:31Bandits at 8 o'clock, coming in fast!
00:07:35This is Yellow Leader.
00:07:36I'm hit!
00:07:37Losing altitude fast!
00:07:40We never think before we light a fuse
00:07:48Even the townspeople are helping the Invid hunt down freedom fighters like you.
00:07:52There's only one way you'll be able to escape, and that's disguised as a woman.
00:07:55Bring it down!
00:08:03All right, tell us where they are.
00:08:04Come on.
00:08:05Just a couple of girls.
00:08:07All right, let's get out of here.
00:08:08They slipped through our fingers.
00:08:10We'll get them.
00:08:33Oh, please!
00:08:34Lancer, come back!
00:08:35No!
00:08:38No!
00:08:41You left her?
00:08:42Just like that?
00:08:44I know it seems heartless, but I was a soldier.
00:08:46It was the only way for me to protect her.
00:08:49You think it was an easy decision to make?
00:08:51You're judging things from a point of view that has nothing to do with what happens during wartime.
00:08:55She would have been in too much danger.
00:08:56I had to leave her.
00:08:57Well, what if she'd been a soldier, too?
00:09:00I guess I'm just not meant for love.
00:09:02That sounds like a very lonely life.
00:09:05Yeah, well, it wasn't for long.
00:09:08The Invid seemed almost invincible against the Robotech defenders.
00:09:13But even though times were incredibly difficult,
00:09:15I met the people who became my closest friends.
00:09:18Really?
00:09:19Who?
00:09:21What a disaster area!
00:09:23Well, there was Rand, a wisecracking country boy with a heart of gold.
00:09:27He could find humor in the worst situation, and trust me,
00:09:30that was often worth more than a hundred soldiers.
00:09:33Oh, stop it!
00:09:35Then there was Annie.
00:09:36She liked to call herself Mint.
00:09:38She was just a little kid, but was as courageous as anybody.
00:09:41This dump isn't that bad.
00:09:43But boy, what do you think they do for fun around here?
00:09:45They probably sit around and watch their floorboards warp.
00:09:53Hey, babyface.
00:09:55Yeah, you with the microphone.
00:09:56Me and my friends don't like your music.
00:09:59It stinks, you hear?
00:10:01It's garbage, it ain't music.
00:10:03Well, why don't you give these people a sample of what you consider music?
00:10:06I'll give them a sample.
00:10:11Oh, yeah?
00:10:14There, now we're even.
00:10:16So how about calling it quits, huh, fellas?
00:10:18Tag team wrestling isn't scheduled until Saturday night.
00:10:21Gee, you guys sure have guts.
00:10:24Rook.
00:10:26She had a chip on her shoulder as big as Mount Rushmore.
00:10:29She didn't like taking orders from anybody,
00:10:31and could take down bad guys twice her size.
00:10:34Think you can handle her all by yourself?
00:10:36Hey, sweetheart, take my advice and keep out of this, or you'll be next.
00:10:39Maybe if two of you held her down while the others ran for reinforcements,
00:10:43then you might have a chance.
00:10:45Oh, a comedian.
00:10:46It's too bad me and the boys have terrible senses of humor.
00:10:49So we're gonna make you sorry you ever said that.
00:10:52Stand aside, boys.
00:10:53She's mine.
00:10:58You almost killed me.
00:11:00Well, come at me again, and let's see if I can get it right.
00:11:02Okay with you?
00:11:04I think the baboon's overmatched.
00:11:07Stop laughing!
00:11:09Do you hear me?
00:11:09Just shut up.
00:11:10All of you.
00:11:11Huh?
00:11:11It's her.
00:11:12Woo!
00:11:13You know her?
00:11:14Scott Bernard.
00:11:16Scott had only one thought, one aim.
00:11:18To get the Invid off our planet at any cost.
00:11:21I trusted him with my life.
00:11:22More times than I can count.
00:11:24She's the one who helped us out the other day.
00:11:25You remember the girl on the cyclone?
00:11:27Oh, yeah!
00:11:30Hey!
00:11:30Hey!
00:11:30Hey!
00:11:30Hey!
00:11:30Hey!
00:11:31Hey!
00:11:31Hey!
00:11:31Hey!
00:11:31Hey!
00:11:31Hey!
00:11:31Hey!
00:11:31Hey!
00:11:31Hey!
00:11:31Hey!
00:11:31Hey!
00:11:31Hey!
00:11:31Hey!
00:11:32Hey!
00:11:32Hey!
00:11:32Hey!
00:11:32Hey!
00:11:33Hey!
00:11:33Hey!
00:11:33Hey!
00:11:33Hey!
00:11:34Hey!
00:11:34Hey!
00:11:40Well, what are we waiting for?
00:11:42Leave her alone, Wrand!
00:11:42What?
00:11:43I happen to be a pretty good judge of these things.
00:11:46She can handle herself.
00:11:47But they'll kill her!
00:11:48Hmph.
00:11:48I don't think so, Evan.
00:11:49Hmph!
00:11:50Hmph!
00:11:50Hmph!
00:11:50Hmph!
00:11:50Hmph!
00:11:50Hmph!
00:11:50Hmph!
00:11:50Hmph!
00:11:50Hmph!
00:11:50Hmph!
00:11:50Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51Hmph!
00:11:51What are you waiting for?
00:11:55Stop prancing around like an idiot and just get her, will you?
00:11:59Get her!
00:12:03Wow!
00:12:07Hey, wait a second.
00:12:11May I have this dance?
00:12:15Give me that, you wimp.
00:12:19You can bid a fond farewell to that pretty face of yours, sister.
00:12:23Hold it tight, please. Hold it. Just a minute.
00:12:35Hey, I'm gonna smash you for that.
00:12:39Just try it, caveman. All right, get out of here, all of you.
00:12:43Okay, buddy, but this ain't over yet, I promise you.
00:12:47Uh, what the...
00:12:51I guess there's just no pleasing some people.
00:12:55Ugh, talk about a swelled head. Jeepers.
00:12:59Well, I'm grateful for your help. Wow, it can't be. Oh, boy, I don't believe it.
00:13:03Listen, I know it's silly, but would you give me your autograph?
00:13:07I guess you could say that was my cue for a costume change.
00:13:11When life presents you with choices, you gotta take them or lose them.
00:13:15See? There's a woman in a slinky outfit. Wrong on both counts, mister.
00:13:19I've got something to show you. What are you talking about?
00:13:23Huh?
00:13:27Is she doing what I think she's doing? Hey, you stop that!
00:13:31Well, she's right about one thing.
00:13:35She's not wearing no slinky outfit anymore.
00:13:39Oh.
00:13:45Huh?
00:13:49Huh? It's amazing!
00:13:53Yellow Dancer? You can start by calling me Lancer.
00:13:57I think the name suits me a little better. Now then, my new friends,
00:14:01I hope there are no further objections to my tagging along with you.
00:14:05Oh, no, I can't believe it.
00:14:09How could you do this to me, your biggest fan?
00:14:13How could you do this to me, your biggest fan?
00:14:43You again. You're really getting on my nerves.
00:14:47Hold it. One more inch and I'll ventilate you and your buddies so fast
00:14:51it'll make your empty heads swim. All right, boys, back to the swamp.
00:14:55The party's over. Okay, big guy. Hey, look, if you want to see your friend,
00:14:59come on out to the ranch, if you got the guts, that is.
00:15:03Who's this friend of yours he was talking about?
00:15:07Just stay out of it, will you?
00:15:11Oh, yeah. Can't forget Lunk.
00:15:15Greatest Veritech mechanic there ever was.
00:15:19He tried to run away from a past that just kept catching up with him.
00:15:23We gotta go save him. We can't just leave him hanging out like that.
00:15:27Hey, you're unbelievable, you know that?
00:15:31A friend like you, a guy doesn't really need any enemies, does he?
00:15:35Lunk, what's the matter?
00:15:39Oh, wait just a second, Scott. If you've gone crazy, you're not seriously considering
00:15:43going out to that ranch, are you? I would advise against it.
00:15:47That ranch is more like a fortress.
00:15:51Hey, wait for me. Slow down. What's the big hurry?
00:15:55Okay, let's go. Really?
00:15:59I won't let those bums make a monkey out of me. Atta boy.
00:16:03No offense, Spider, but I can handle this thing better with just me on it.
00:16:07Okay, but be careful, will you?
00:16:11Forget it. I'm tired of being careful.
00:16:15I can't figure why you came. You've got no stake in this.
00:16:19Listen, mister, I've got just as much reason to be here as you.
00:16:23Brandt, be sure not to fire your proton cannon, no matter what, okay? I don't want any of these goons getting injured.
00:16:27Yeah, gotcha. It'd be no great loss if you asked me.
00:16:31You're a prisoner, and we promise we'll leave you alone.
00:16:35We might just make you part of today's quota, soldier boy.
00:16:39Listen, we ain't picky. So either you back off or we blow you away.
00:16:43And believe me, we've got the firepower to do it, with room to spare.
00:16:47Let's move.
00:16:51Get out of here!
00:17:09Stop them, somebody!
00:17:21Come on, what the heck is wrong with this thing?
00:17:24Just calm down and stop bashing away at it.
00:17:27What?
00:17:28Treat it gently.
00:17:29What do you mean, treat it gently?
00:17:39I can't escape it. And I thought I'd never be fighting again.
00:17:44Well, I can't say too much for our attitude, but that lady sure can handle a cyclone.
00:17:50Okay, gently, gently now. That's better.
00:18:13Come on!
00:18:24Skye, over here!
00:18:30Not very persistent, are they?
00:18:32Hey, yeah.
00:18:34You weren't ever a member of the Space Battalions, were you?
00:18:37Yeah.
00:18:38Well, can you fly a Veritech?
00:18:39What, do you have one?
00:18:41I'll be back as soon as I can.
00:18:47There it is! Hurry up!
00:18:54Huh? An Alpha fighter!
00:19:03Climb on, she's ready to fly.
00:19:05You've got to be kidding, who's been maintaining it?
00:19:07Hey, listen, I'm not as stupid as I seem to be.
00:19:09I'm a certified bio-maintenance engineer. I mean, I used to be.
00:19:13Trust me, this baby will fly like a dream.
00:19:17All right, let's give it a try.
00:19:24Everything seems to be in order.
00:19:29Huh?
00:19:34Oh, no! I'll never be able to power up fast enough to get her out of here!
00:19:46This is all the time I needed. Got it!
00:19:54See? I told you it'd fly!
00:19:59Huh?
00:20:11What in the blue blazes is that thing?
00:20:13An Alpha fighter!
00:20:14It's a what?
00:20:21What's going on?
00:20:22It's changing to Bataloid!
00:20:29Look out!
00:20:42Look, are you okay?
00:20:44I've decided to go with him, Kevin.
00:20:45You're what?
00:20:46Yeah, I'm sick of sneaking around like a frightened little weasel.
00:20:49Face it, Kevin, I'm a soldier after all. It's time I started acting like one.
00:20:54Oh, and I thought you were special.
00:20:56Huh?
00:20:57You're a big disappointment.
00:20:59But I thought I was the man of your dreams, Annie.
00:21:01Oh, I made a decision a long time ago.
00:21:04I'll never marry a soldier.
00:21:11Hey, Scott, how much longer do we have to keep going? It's almost dawn, you know?
00:21:15Quit griping. Point K is just a few more kilometers straight ahead of us.
00:21:19Pardon me?
00:21:20Point K, Rook.
00:21:21You see, it's the place where Admiral Hunter put down to plan an advance attack base.
00:21:26Was he planning advance attacks against the Invid?
00:21:29He wasn't sure who the enemy was exactly,
00:21:31but ever since they arrived, there's been nothing around but the Invid to attack.
00:21:35The plan was to base over 2,000 Veritech fighters there to launch an offensive against the enemy's strongholds.
00:21:40Oh, right. Now that's the way to show them how to do it.
00:21:43You tell them, Annie. Hey, Scott.
00:21:45Hmm? What?
00:21:47I just thought of something. How do you hide an army that size?
00:21:50If you mean avoiding contact with the enemy, in this case the Invid, you don't.
00:21:53With 6,000 soldiers in that division, we can't lose.
00:21:57I think this is it.
00:22:03Boys and girls, there it is up ahead. I'm gonna go on and check things out.
00:22:07I don't know about this.
00:22:09Don't worry about it. Everything's gonna be fine. Just leave it to him.
00:22:13Yeah, quit worrying. You go get him, Scott.
00:22:18Yeah.
00:22:24Here we are.
00:22:26Well, at least I think so. Huh.
00:22:29My sensors can't be that off.
00:22:31Well...
00:22:35Well?
00:22:36Mm-hmm.
00:22:37Made it.
00:22:38Great.
00:22:40Hey, look up there!
00:22:46No!
00:22:54No.
00:22:56I don't believe it.
00:22:58This can't have happened.
00:23:01How is it possible?
00:23:036,000. Gone.
00:23:06Gone. Without a trace.
00:23:12It can't be. Is anybody there?
00:23:15Anybody? Anybody? Anybody?
00:23:20Anybody?
00:23:44Hey, you guys!
00:23:46Look, what'd you find?
00:23:48What happened?
00:23:49You won't believe it. It's a new type of fighter I've never seen before.
00:23:53It's great. If we can attach this thing to the back of the Alpha Fighter, it'll make it even stronger.
00:23:57It's called, uh, um...
00:23:59It's a Beta Fighter.
00:24:00Huh?
00:24:02Uh, yeah. And there's barely a mark on her from one end to the other, Scott.
00:24:06I spent a little time fixing it because it sort of got bent out of shape when the cargo ship was blown apart.
00:24:11Take a look at it.
00:24:12Hmm?
00:24:13Blueprints are always so complicated.
00:24:16Actually, the idea is pretty simple.
00:24:18The Beta Fighter seems to be just a big booster unit compatible with the Alpha.
00:24:22Nice piece of engineering.
00:24:24Did you find anything, Lancer?
00:24:25Yes, a couple of Alphas.
00:24:27With a little work, they'll be just fine.
00:24:29It'll take a slight alteration here and there,
00:24:31but at least we'll have no problem finding spare parts in this place.
00:24:34Hey, hey! With five fighters and three Cyclones,
00:24:37we'll probably be able to knock the Invid right off this planet.
00:24:41It's him!
00:24:43During those years, it was as if every rule had been turned inside out.
00:24:48And as insidious as the Invid were,
00:24:50at least you knew where you stood with them.
00:24:53But often, it was the humans who were the most treacherous.
00:24:56He's the greatest ace ever to come out of the Robotech Military Academy.
00:25:00Huh.
00:25:01I heard he's supposed to be a real ladies' man, too.
00:25:03Really? I'd like to meet him.
00:25:05Yep. Graduated number one in his class,
00:25:07and then volunteered for Special Forces duty
00:25:09when Admiral Hunter sent in the first wave against the Robotech Masters.
00:25:19I can still remember the day Colonel Wolfe left.
00:25:22After joining the Earth Reclamation Force,
00:25:24as he turned up missing, we thought he was dead.
00:25:26Amazing. He's been here fighting the Invid all this time.
00:25:30I can't afford to be held back by some wet-behind-the-ears kid.
00:25:33I can understand that.
00:25:35Hmm. On the other hand,
00:25:37a Robotech combat officer can't be all that inexperienced.
00:25:40And one of my units happens to need a commander right now.
00:25:43It'd be a pleasure.
00:25:45Meet us at 0500 tomorrow morning at the west end of town, Commander.
00:25:49Thank you, Colonel.
00:25:51Commander.
00:25:52Sir?
00:25:53Listen, there's one...
00:25:54Don't worry, Colonel. I won't let you down.
00:25:56We'll strike those Invids so hard, the dust won't settle for a week.
00:25:59Sir, they'll never know what hit them.
00:26:01And this is a secret mission, Commander.
00:26:03Yes, sir. I won't say a word.
00:26:10It looks like a giant hive.
00:26:12It gives me the creeps just to look at it.
00:26:14Yep. And don't be fooled just because you don't see any Invid.
00:26:17They're around.
00:26:18Okay, sir.
00:26:19Now, here's what we're going to do.
00:26:21I want two of you to attack the south end,
00:26:23and I'll take someone and hit it from the north. Understand?
00:26:26Todd, Wilson, you take the south.
00:26:28Yes, sir.
00:26:29Commander Bernard, you're with me.
00:26:30Right, sir. Go.
00:26:34Watch yourself now.
00:26:44Colonel Wolf, there's a force field of some kind over the south entrance.
00:26:47Force field? But that's impossible.
00:26:52Colonel, it's a trap! Invid!
00:26:54Our whole plan is worthless. We've got to get out of here.
00:26:56Right.
00:27:04Run for it!
00:27:16Move, Scott! Quick!
00:27:26Scott, run! Run for your life! Hurry!
00:27:34Sir, tell us what happened to Scott.
00:27:37Scott who?
00:27:38You know who.
00:27:41Bernard, you mean?
00:27:43Well, what happened to him?
00:27:46You mean...
00:27:47I can't say for sure.
00:27:49The Invid surprised us, and in the confusion,
00:27:51I didn't see whether he made it out or not.
00:27:53They were waiting for us, and we were overmatched.
00:27:55What more can I tell you?
00:27:56A whole lot more.
00:27:57Colonel, I want to know where you were attacked. Tell me!
00:28:01If you're thinking about going out there and trying to find him,
00:28:03forget it. You won't make it.
00:28:04I've got a fighter hidden near town,
00:28:06and if Scott's alive, you better believe I'm going out there to find him.
00:28:10A fighter? Even that might not be enough.
00:28:12But if you've got one, I'll take you out.
00:28:14That'll be great!
00:28:15We'll leave immediately, you and me,
00:28:17just as soon as I change into some fighting gear.
00:28:22All right, it's time to get moving.
00:28:24Let's split up and look for him separately.
00:28:26Right.
00:28:27Huh?
00:28:28Huh?
00:28:42You're not leaving me behind, Bran.
00:28:44It's a good thing I followed you two.
00:28:46Hurry up, get on!
00:28:47Okay, let's go!
00:28:48Get out of here, now!
00:28:58Uh-oh!
00:29:09Let's split up!
00:29:10Okay!
00:29:19Phew!
00:29:23Huh?
00:29:26What's going on?
00:29:28Hey!
00:29:36Protocol yourself!
00:29:43So the hero's a traitor.
00:29:45No wonder the town's full of laughing soldiers.
00:29:49No wonder why so many soldiers flock there.
00:29:51It's so safe and secure while you're around.
00:29:54The great robotech hero made a deal with the Invit.
00:29:57With his sleek hands of protoculture,
00:29:59the great Jonathan Wolfe leads his own soldiers to the Invit's doorstep.
00:30:02Isn't that right?
00:30:06That's why you always come back to town alive and unhurt, isn't it?
00:30:10You don't understand at all, kid.
00:30:12My efforts keep the whole town alive.
00:30:14Everyone.
00:30:15All but your own soldiers, they're being annihilated.
00:30:17Easy, boy.
00:30:19You don't want to be next.
00:30:22Shoot me, go ahead, traitor,
00:30:23just like you would a dog in the street.
00:30:25Just remember that you were a god to us,
00:30:26the reason we became soldiers in the first place.
00:30:29Huh?
00:30:30We all worshipped you.
00:30:31We wanted to be just like you, a hero.
00:30:33Till now.
00:30:34Welcome to the real world.
00:30:36Now you know about the dark side of being a hero.
00:30:39Yes, but why?
00:30:40What makes you bring your own men to destruction?
00:30:44You couldn't possibly understand.
00:30:47How could I possibly have let things come to this?
00:30:50How could I ever have convinced myself that it was right?
00:30:56Oh, no!
00:31:03Okay, Robert, let's go.
00:31:04Okay.
00:31:26We're surrounded.
00:31:27Now what are we going to do?
00:31:28What we always do,
00:31:29fight our way out, of course.
00:31:37Right.
00:31:38This time I'll be doing it for real.
00:31:41Scott, look!
00:31:42It's got me!
00:31:43Help!
00:31:48It's the Alpha!
00:31:56No!
00:32:08It's time.
00:32:20Man, a traitor wouldn't handle an Alpha fighter like that.
00:32:23Scott, you read me?
00:32:24I just thought I'd give you a few pointers.
00:32:27You're welcome anytime.
00:32:30Somehow, something must be done to stop the endless killing.
00:32:37There are no winners or losers here.
00:32:39Only survivors.
00:32:53No!
00:33:09Colonel!
00:33:12Sir!
00:33:13You're bleeding, sir.
00:33:14We've got to get you back as soon as we can.
00:33:17Listen, Scott, get out of here and leave me.
00:33:19That's an order.
00:33:20Sir, I won't let you die.
00:33:21Not like this.
00:33:22Get back now!
00:33:24I'm a traitor, Commander.
00:33:27Colonel!
00:33:29It's only right for a traitor to die out in the open like this
00:33:31so the buzzards can pick at his body.
00:33:33When I think of the lives that I traded to the Invid
00:33:35so that I'd be spared...
00:33:37Sir!
00:33:39Catherine...
00:33:40Johnny...
00:33:44Colonel Wolf!
00:33:53Hey!
00:33:55Is anybody here?
00:33:58Hello?
00:34:01Hmm.
00:34:04The Invid?
00:34:05Mm-hmm.
00:34:07They were here, all right.
00:34:08It looks like they may have been too close to the advance base
00:34:10and when the Invid attacked, they didn't make it.
00:34:14An entire squadron of Invids
00:34:15is on their way to the base.
00:34:17What?
00:34:18I don't know.
00:34:19When the Invid attacked, they didn't make it.
00:34:22An entire town wiped out.
00:34:25Huh?
00:34:27Huh?
00:34:28Hey!
00:34:30Oh.
00:34:32Ran, look!
00:34:33Be careful, Rook.
00:34:34What do you think that is?
00:34:37Huh?
00:34:38Hmm.
00:34:40It burned my hand!
00:34:42Well, I don't think that's anything to laugh about.
00:34:44Well, I said watch out.
00:34:46Ran, do you think the Invid could still be
00:34:47hanging around here somewhere?
00:34:49We've got to check.
00:34:50I'll look outside.
00:34:51You check in back of the house.
00:34:54Mm-hmm.
00:35:00Hmm.
00:35:01Rook, where...
00:35:02Huh?
00:35:05Uh-oh.
00:35:07Huh?
00:35:10Come on out.
00:35:11I can hear your breathing.
00:35:14All right.
00:35:15Where are you?
00:35:16Just hold it.
00:35:17Huh?
00:35:23Uh, excuse me.
00:35:24I'm sorry.
00:35:26Huh?
00:35:27Huh?
00:35:28I didn't mean to surprise you,
00:35:29but won't you get your clothes sitting there?
00:35:31I mean, you know,
00:35:32don't you have any clothes that you could put on?
00:35:34Have clothes put on?
00:35:37Yeah, you know, you have anything to...
00:35:39Hmm.
00:35:40Have anything to...
00:35:42Have anything, um...
00:35:44Ran, I thought I heard voices.
00:35:45I don't come any closer.
00:35:46I really don't think you should see this.
00:35:47Maybe we ought to go back to the, uh...
00:35:48Look, stop being an idiot.
00:35:50Huh?
00:35:51Huh?
00:35:52Hmm.
00:35:53You animal, how could you do that?
00:35:55Hey, honest, I found her like that.
00:35:57She wasn't wearing a single piece of anything.
00:35:59I'll bet she wasn't, you creep.
00:36:01Tell me, why are you here all by yourself?
00:36:03Are you all right?
00:36:05Here all by yourself.
00:36:06Huh?
00:36:08That's all that she does is repeat what you say.
00:36:10Ran, shut up.
00:36:12Now slow down and tell me what you're babbling about over here.
00:36:15Well, come on, don't you think she's a bit odd?
00:36:17Well...
00:36:19I mean, she acts like she lost her memory.
00:36:21Maybe she's been through some kind of trauma.
00:36:23It's like shock or something.
00:36:25Wow.
00:36:27The cyborg agent has been accepted.
00:36:35Follow and observe.
00:36:57Scott was plagued by the ghosts of his past.
00:37:00It looked like he'd never be free from them.
00:37:03Until something changed.
00:37:06My love, I accept your marriage proposal with all of my heart.
00:37:10I can't tell you what this means to me
00:37:12or how long I've dreamt you would ask.
00:37:14Yes, Scott, I'd be proud to share the rest of my life with you.
00:37:22Of course, now I have all kinds of problems.
00:37:25Have you ever tried looking for a wedding gown
00:37:27aboard a battle cruiser in deep space?
00:37:29I don't recommend it.
00:37:31Scott, I've never been this happy ever.
00:37:33I've been wishing for you my whole life, and now I've found you.
00:37:36Oh, no!
00:37:43Marlene.
00:37:56What?
00:38:00That girl, it can't be.
00:38:02We were looking around that ruined town, and that's where we found her.
00:38:05Well, Ran did, anyway.
00:38:07I don't get it, but something's happened to her.
00:38:09It's as though she has amnesia.
00:38:11She's almost forgotten how to talk.
00:38:13The poor thing. She must have had some terrible experience.
00:38:19Don't worry. We'll help you.
00:38:25Huh?
00:38:31Hey, get back here!
00:38:33Come on, you have to get under cover!
00:38:55Marlene, that's it!
00:39:16I think it's about time you guys picked on someone your own size.
00:39:25All right, who's next?
00:39:47Reception is perfect. Maintain surveillance.
00:39:55Huh?
00:40:09It's a city. A city under the ice.
00:40:12Well, I'll be.
00:40:13No wonder everything in this place is still operational.
00:40:16It looks like their main generator has sunk all the way down to the Earth's core,
00:40:20giving them an unlimited supply of power.
00:40:22We've got enough energy in these storage tanks to last a hundred thousand years.
00:40:25Scott!
00:40:26Huh?
00:40:27Take a look at this.
00:40:28What is it?
00:40:29To the people of Denver.
00:40:31It's an evacuation order given the day before the Invid came.
00:40:34Hmm. They were in such a big hurry, they forgot to turn out the lights.
00:40:38Boy, are they going to be stuck with some utility bill.
00:40:40So this place was called Denver.
00:40:43Come on, Scott, you old fussbudget.
00:40:46Loosen up a little. It's a beautiful dress.
00:40:49And who knows, maybe they'll give us a break on the prize.
00:40:51It is our wedding after all.
00:40:53Marlene?
00:40:55What are you thinking about?
00:40:57Uh, about another dress a long time ago that was a lot like this one.
00:41:03Maybe they're right. Maybe I am an old stick in the mud.
00:41:06Do you think they're right?
00:41:08Oh.
00:41:09Marlene, how about a guided tour of the city of Denver? What do you say?
00:41:13Are you all right?
00:41:15I'm going to have to find you some better shoes and some warmer clothes.
00:41:22You're not cold?
00:41:25All of a sudden I feel very warm.
00:41:42I can't believe it. Scott's a human being after all.
00:41:45Hey, wait up. Wait for me.
00:41:47Grow up. Just leave them alone.
00:41:50Dummy.
00:41:54Well, don't you like it? Here, try it on.
00:41:58Go ahead.
00:42:03Stupid of me.
00:42:09Step this way, mademoiselle.
00:42:15Scott?
00:42:16Sorry.
00:42:21Uh...
00:42:24Huh?
00:42:29Marlene, you're...
00:42:32Um...
00:42:36Would you zip me up?
00:42:38Uh, sure. I'd be happy to.
00:42:43Um...
00:42:50I've never been very good at this, you see.
00:42:55I'm, uh...
00:42:59Stupid thing.
00:43:03Don't tell me you're going to give up already.
00:43:05Yeah, it's just too boring.
00:43:07Well, how do you ever expect to improve at anything if you just keep giving up?
00:43:13Oh, would you give me a break, you piece of junk?
00:43:16This place just makes me feel so lonely.
00:43:19Hey, wait a minute. What am I, part of the furniture?
00:43:21You? Come on. I don't think you'd want me to answer that.
00:43:25So, you talk about everybody's love life except yours.
00:43:30In all that time, there was nobody?
00:43:32Come on, give me a scoop here.
00:43:35Hey, fame doesn't necessarily bring love, you know.
00:43:38And remember, those were the first years after most of the world's population had been decimated by war.
00:43:43It wasn't exactly the ideal situation for romance.
00:43:47Okay, what about the present?
00:43:49Anybody within kissing distance at the moment?
00:43:54Not so far.
00:43:55Mind if I... get in line?
00:44:00You have both been summoned to the protoculture chamber to assume your rightful place in the new order of our society.
00:44:07However, you must first undergo transformation into the ultimate life form of this planet.
00:44:12Prepare yourselves for biomass reconstruction.
00:44:16Transformation into the ultimate life form of this planet.
00:44:20Transformation into the ultimate life form of this planet.
00:44:43My children, you are truly the inheritors of my lineage.
00:44:47You are a prince and princess of our race, and shall be known hereafter as Sera and Kor.
00:44:54Soon we must begin the mass transformation of our people to the humanoid life form.
00:44:59This form, which you have now assumed, has been determined to be the most advanced and flexible configuration for survival on this planet.
00:45:07However, there may be hidden dangers in this physical form.
00:45:10An early experiment with humanoid reconstruction appears to be malfunctioning.
00:45:15Our spy, Ariel, has failed to establish a communications link with us.
00:45:20You must contact Ariel and determine the cause of her dysfunction before we commit ourselves to a complete metamorphosis.
00:45:28You must prepare the way for the final phase of our domination of this planet.
00:45:33Now go forth and prove yourself worthy of your heritage.
00:45:38I'd gotten to a point where I'd lost faith in just about everything and everybody.
00:45:43But then... well, you can't say life doesn't have a sense of humor.
00:45:48What was that? I thought I heard someone moving around out there.
00:45:53But I thought everyone was down at the beach. I wonder if...
00:46:07Um...
00:46:15Gotcha!
00:46:24Wait a minute!
00:46:26You're a... a woman!
00:46:28A... woman?
00:46:33Now just a minute there, sister.
00:46:35From all the reports we've heard, this island is uninhabited.
00:46:38So where did you come from and what do you want?
00:46:43At least you don't appear to be armed.
00:46:45Or is beauty your weapon?
00:46:49Wait! I only want to talk to you!
00:46:52There may be Invin nearby! You may be in great danger! Stop!
00:46:57Ah...
00:47:01Huh?
00:47:03An Invid Shock Trooper!
00:47:07This is incredible! It must have landed while I was swimming, but it didn't attack me!
00:47:13Where's the pilot? Huh?
00:47:16You can't be the pilot!
00:47:19Wait! Don't go up there!
00:47:22Huh?
00:47:27Huh?
00:47:45I'm sorry about this, Lancer.
00:47:47You did the best you could!
00:47:48Lancer, heads up! We're going to try to maneuver the enemy to you!
00:47:51Okay, we'll be on the lookout!
00:47:54What the...
00:47:57Oh no! We barely had time to get ready!
00:48:12Everybody take cover and hang on! We're about to be blasted!
00:48:15Why doesn't he shoot? What's going on out there?
00:48:23Go ahead, buddy. What's holding you up?
00:48:27Huh?
00:48:29Lancer, hang on! I'm almost in range!
00:48:31A little more... Fire!
00:48:46Lancer, coming into range. Now, on my order.
00:48:50Ready.
00:48:51Counting down. Three, two, one, fire!
00:48:54Firing!
00:49:10Patrol squadron destroyed.
00:49:12Scanners now report human lifeforms are abandoning these special coordinates.
00:49:24Woo!
00:49:28We started finding more pockets of resistance fighters as we traveled up towards Reflex Point.
00:49:33But not everybody was willing to give us a hand.
00:49:38That's strange. It's deserted. It looks like a ghost town.
00:49:42Where's all the cowboys?
00:49:44They could have been captured by Invert, or maybe they didn't survive after all.
00:49:47What now? Should we move on?
00:49:49I don't like this.
00:49:52Huh?
00:49:56I was afraid of that.
00:50:09I don't believe it!
00:50:16A battle fortress!
00:50:18SDF!
00:50:20What do you know about that?
00:50:22Super-dimensional fortress, all right.
00:50:25Incredible!
00:50:27Just like her crew, she's old and rusty now.
00:50:31The SDF-3 was Admiral Rick Hunter's command.
00:50:34Did you know him?
00:50:35That's something we don't talk about around here, sonny.
00:50:38Boy, this is just what we need.
00:50:40Jane, do you want an army issue? Laser rifles.
00:50:45This model must date clear back to the war against the Robotech Masters.
00:50:49I guess it wouldn't be considered good taste to ask you where you got them.
00:50:52Why should you care where we got them?
00:50:54Everything we got here is for sale, as long as the customer don't ask too many questions.
00:50:58You understand?
00:51:00That's right, sonny.
00:51:02But I reckon there's no harm in telling you.
00:51:04Way back when we were soldiers, the army issued these weapons to us.
00:51:08Why aren't you fighting the Invert?
00:51:11We had our fill of fighting.
00:51:13And after the Robotech Masters' war, when General Leonard and his boys got themselves killed,
00:51:17we all come back to Earth.
00:51:19Now we sell supplies to the fighters.
00:51:24And it's all profit.
00:51:26How about that? Just the one I wanted.
00:51:29Don't need this one either.
00:51:31Have food.
00:51:34Frank, you old coot, you gonna play or not?
00:51:36Hang on, I'm just trying to decide how much to raise you.
00:51:39You're bluffing.
00:51:40Is that transceiver in operating condition?
00:51:43Like everything else around here, it's wore out.
00:51:46We still receive transmissions from Admiral Hunter, but we can't answer them.
00:51:50What do they say?
00:51:51Who knows? We don't pay no attention to them.
00:51:55You cowardly scum. I hate to even dirty my fists on you.
00:51:58We ain't soldiers any longer, and we don't take orders from the likes of you or anyone else.
00:52:02So if you want to attack the Invid, you'll just have to do it on your own.
00:52:05You're all traitors.
00:52:07Scott, you're just wasting your time.
00:52:09They fought bravely against the Robotech Masters, but the fight's just gone out of them.
00:52:14Obviously, they're no match for the Invid now.
00:52:19Listen to me, everybody.
00:52:20I'm gonna get those jamming towers if it's the last thing I do.
00:52:23How about it? Are you with me or not?
00:52:26Yes, we're with you!
00:52:28You and Annie had better stay here.
00:52:29Hey!
00:52:30You stay and look after them, Lon.
00:52:31Okay, let's go.
00:52:32What's your plan, Scott?
00:52:33We'll decide on the way. Come on.
00:52:35But Scott, what about the Cowboys?
00:52:37You heard them, Annie. Their fighting days are over.
00:52:40But Scott was wrong.
00:52:42They may not have looked like much,
00:52:44but those crusty old warriors still had what it takes.
00:52:47This stuff ain't no help.
00:52:51Thank you, Frank, but we don't need it either.
00:52:55You ain't going nowhere without us.
00:52:57We're all reporting for duty.
00:53:00That's right, Commander.
00:53:01What are you waiting for, then?
00:53:03Get to your battle stations.
00:53:04Aye, aye, sir.
00:53:06Well, let's take her up.
00:53:36Holy mackerel, there's more of them.
00:53:42We'll never get through them.
00:53:54Oh, no!
00:53:55Scott, look!
00:53:56Those crazy old coots have actually got that junk keep off the ground somehow.
00:54:00Watch your mouth.
00:54:01This ain't no junk keep, Sonny,
00:54:03and we're going to prove it by showing you whippersnappers
00:54:05what a real combat crew looks like.
00:54:07Are you crazy? Get that heap out of here.
00:54:12Just like the good old days, huh, Roy?
00:54:14Aye.
00:54:29That burnt it. I'll show them.
00:54:33No!
00:54:39Oh, no!
00:54:41Use your escape pods.
00:54:42Abandon ship while there's still time.
00:54:44No way, Sonny.
00:54:45This crew don't give up.
00:54:47Don't be foolish, old man.
00:54:48Get out of here while you can.
00:54:49There's nothing more you can do.
00:54:51There's still a job to be done, Sonny.
00:54:53What are you trying to prove?
00:54:55That we ain't cowards.
00:55:04I've removed the safety locks from all the missiles, Commander.
00:55:08Are we all in agreement about what must be done?
00:55:10Shorty, what do you say?
00:55:12Commander, how many times do I have to tell you?
00:55:14Don't call me Shorty.
00:55:16I'm ordering all of you to abandon ship while there's still time.
00:55:19You hear?
00:55:20I'm sorry, sir.
00:55:21Our radio's been damaged and we can't hear a word you're saying.
00:55:24You can still pull out of there.
00:55:25All you have to do is fire your retro rockets.
00:55:28No, it's better this way.
00:55:33This is it, Shorty. Are you ready?
00:55:35It's a funny thing, Commander.
00:55:37I just remembered what it really is.
00:55:39My name.
00:55:40It's...
00:55:55We mustn't let the world forget them.
00:56:04We're too late.
00:56:06It's...
00:56:07I've looked everywhere.
00:56:09No one lived.
00:56:18Don't get any on you.
00:56:20Happened to me once.
00:56:22Couldn't get the smell off for a week.
00:56:24Hold everything. Don't move.
00:56:26I'm recording this battle for Admiral Hunter's archives.
00:56:29Then we met the reconnaissance officer, Sue Graham.
00:56:32And for the first time in a long while, we finally had some hope.
00:56:36My name's Sue Graham, Intelligence Department of the 36th Squadron.
00:56:40Jupiter section.
00:56:41Jupiter?
00:56:42Then where's the rest of the fleet?
00:56:44My battalion has been completely blown up.
00:56:48Listen, I want some answers, Graham, and I want them now.
00:56:51I want to know if you stood by and filmed the destruction of your battalion with that recorder.
00:56:55My assignment is to document this war and get the record off to Admiral Hunter's command group.
00:57:03So Admiral Hunter's finally going to be here.
00:57:06Then the fleet will be able to take care of these Invid.
00:57:08Yes, they're making final preparations for the bombardment of Reflex Point.
00:57:12The third attack unit is in preliminary maneuvers at a base on the far side of the moon.
00:57:17Here's a holographic projection of the site.
00:57:22Right now, a fleet of Veritech fighters coming from deep space and gathering on the moon.
00:57:28The main Robotech force, however, is coming back with a fleet consisting of a new version of the Veritech fighter.
00:57:34These ships have been codenamed Shadow Fighters.
00:57:40You can see by this graphic representation that the protoculture generator has been designed with a fourth-dimensional configuration,
00:57:47making the Shadow Fighter invisible to the Invid.
00:57:49It's that simple. We're trying to give the survivors on Earth some hope by letting them in on what's happening with Admiral Hunter's fleet.
00:57:58All right, it's time for a new plan, gang. Come on!
00:58:08Here we go!
00:58:10Come on!
00:58:27Great! You're a big help!
00:58:41Whoa!
00:58:55It's a human fighting for the Invid!
00:59:11Whoa!
00:59:32Hey, who are you?
00:59:41Look out!
00:59:53Is this guy really an Invid or what?
00:59:55Graham! Sue, are you all right?
00:59:59It seems I've got pictures of an Invid with the body of a human.
01:00:03Were they worth dying for?
01:00:05Anybody that bleeds green blood must be Invid.
01:00:08Why would they make themselves like us?
01:00:10I mean, he looked human, but he didn't react like most humans do. Right, Marlene?
01:00:17Huh? Marlene?
01:00:19Huh?
01:00:20I let down Invid.
01:00:23No! No! No!
01:00:35Marlene...
01:00:48Marlene, I...
01:00:58No! Wait!
01:01:05No!
01:01:14Scott.
01:01:16The facts are staring you right in the face, and you're just going to have to believe what you see.
01:01:21You're wrong, Sue, because that woman proves that what a person is made of
01:01:24doesn't determine their spirit or the love they possess.
01:01:27Sue! Sue!
01:01:36The chance finally came for us to launch an attack on the Invid Hive at Reflex Point.
01:01:41Admiral Hunter's expeditionary force came out of spacefold on the dark side of the moon.
01:01:46Thousands of ships.
01:01:48We'd been waiting for this moment for years.
01:01:51Now we were about to drive the aliens from the Earth and begin to rebuild.
01:01:55That was our dream, anyway.
01:01:57Attack group two will continue to object it.
01:02:06The Invid Hive
01:02:15Well, I can't say it's always been fun, but it's certainly been interesting.
01:02:18You three take care of yourselves, okay?
01:02:20It's too bad. I wanted to hear Yellow Dancer perform again.
01:02:23Don't worry, you will.
01:02:25In the meantime, you can always buy my recordings.
01:02:27They're a poor substitute for the real thing.
01:02:30True, but they'll have to do until the real thing comes back, right?
01:02:36Until we meet again.
01:02:39Now, Annie, you gotta promise me you won't go and get married behind my back.
01:02:43Do you promise?
01:02:44I won't.
01:02:46Don't forget to write.
01:02:48Goodbye, Lancer.
01:02:50Hiya, Lunk. Welcome back.
01:02:54Hey, goodbye, Scott.
01:02:56Bring him home safe.
01:03:00Oh, brother, I should have figured that's how he'd say farewell.
01:03:03That guy's got army regulations on the brain.
01:03:06You wouldn't want it any other way.
01:03:08Goodbye, my friends.
01:03:10Whatever happens now, at least I'll know the three of you will get out alive.
01:03:20Eat laser, tinhead.
01:03:24I'll show you how to handle this thing.
01:03:26Huh?
01:03:27Charge!
01:03:30What the heck are you doing here?
01:03:32Well, what does it look like I'm doing?
01:03:34Come on, Mint, don't be stupid. Give me the wheel.
01:03:36You guys all tried to abandon me back there, didn't ya?
01:03:39No, just let me...
01:03:40Forget it! I'm here and I'm gonna stay, and that's that.
01:03:44Draw fire for me.
01:03:46Yoo-hoo! Oh, Mr. Engine!
01:03:54Huh?
01:03:55Lance, it's 12 o'clock!
01:04:00Okay, I got it.
01:04:02I got it.
01:04:03I got it.
01:04:04I got it.
01:04:05I got it.
01:04:06I got it.
01:04:07I got it.
01:04:08I got it.
01:04:09I got it.
01:04:10I got it.
01:04:11I got it.
01:04:12It's okay. I got you covered.
01:04:14I'm all right.
01:04:16Leave him to me.
01:04:17If I'd left him to you, you'd be a pile of smoking rubble by now.
01:04:20And I'm too darn fond of you to let something like that happen.
01:04:23You what? What do you mean?
01:04:25I meant exactly what I said. I'm fond of you, that's all.
01:04:28It's not the end of the world.
01:04:30I... I... I don't know what to say.
01:04:33Don't say anything. Just move!
01:04:38Hold still!
01:04:43Pretty nice shooting there, cowboy.
01:04:46I'll bet you try to impress all the girls that way, don't you?
01:04:49No, not all the girls.
01:04:51Only the ones who can shoot a laser rifle better than I can.
01:04:55Huh?
01:04:56Do you see what I see?
01:04:58I sure do, but maybe we need our eyes checked.
01:05:08Scott, I just saw something very peculiar.
01:05:11I... There it is again!
01:05:12It's some kind of a vapor cloud, I think,
01:05:14but I can't seem to get a decent fix on it.
01:05:16Have you any idea what it might be?
01:05:18No, I... I don't.
01:05:21It can't be!
01:05:23Marlene!
01:05:25That's impossible!
01:05:26Huh?
01:05:33My gyro-stabilizers are shot!
01:05:35I can't get myself turned right-side up!
01:05:38Lancer, he's falling!
01:05:42We've learned nothing, Sarah, nothing.
01:05:45You're wrong, Ariel.
01:05:47I've learned to love my enemy and to betray my own people.
01:05:50Forgive me.
01:05:56There's nothing more I can do now,
01:05:58except wait for the end.
01:06:01Huh? What the...?
01:06:03Sarah, is that you?
01:06:05You... You saved my life!
01:06:07Wait, wait, you mean that invid thing...
01:06:10girl... whatever actually saved your life?
01:06:14Yep.
01:06:15What does that mean to you?
01:06:17We shared a common goal to end the war, that's all.
01:06:20Nothing more?
01:06:22Uh, no.
01:06:24Uh-huh.
01:06:26Okay, we'll get back to that later.
01:06:29Now I want to hear the rest of this.
01:06:37It can't be! It must be!
01:06:40Marlene, is it you? Is it really you?
01:06:43I am neither human nor completely invid.
01:06:46I am a new form of life that is a blending of the two.
01:06:49And this new form of life is planning to replace the old one, I suppose.
01:06:52And this new form of life is planning to replace the old one, I suppose.
01:06:55My friends, follow me into the central core, the heart of the invid civilization.
01:07:00There, all your questions will be answered.
01:07:08Jeepers, she went in! You're not gonna follow her, are you?
01:07:11You better believe I am.
01:07:12Listen, Mint, if you're scared, you can hop out of the Jeep at any time.
01:07:15I'm not scared.
01:07:18That bright light, what is it?
01:07:25Oh!
01:07:26Look, it's Ran and Rook!
01:07:28Yippee! Everybody's here!
01:07:30I told you two to stay put. You're not soldiers.
01:07:32If we're not soldiers, we don't have to follow your orders, do we?
01:07:35Marlene led us to this place.
01:07:37She led all of us here.
01:07:38Look, up there!
01:07:42The hive has been contaminated.
01:07:44Huh?
01:07:45Foolish humans.
01:07:46You have come here seeking to look upon the face of the invid.
01:07:49So be it. You shall see.
01:07:52Hey!
01:07:53Who pulled the plug?
01:07:55Look!
01:07:56Huh?
01:07:57Behold, I am the invid.
01:08:00I am the soul and the spirit.
01:08:02I have guided my people across the measureless cosmos,
01:08:05from a world that was lost to a world that was found.
01:08:09I have led my people in flight from the dark tide of the shadow
01:08:14that engulfed our forefathers,
01:08:16that threatens to engulf us even now.
01:08:19I am the power and the light.
01:08:21I am the embodiment of the life force,
01:08:24the creator or protector.
01:08:26In the primitive terminology of your people,
01:08:28I am the mother.
01:08:31You are surprised.
01:08:32So were we when we discovered that the planet to which we were led
01:08:35by the flower of life was already inhabited.
01:08:38I'll say it's inhabited.
01:08:40That is of little consequence.
01:08:42Your species is nothing when weighed against the survival of my people.
01:08:45The invid life force will not be denied.
01:08:48No, that's not right.
01:08:50Huh?
01:08:51Marlene!
01:08:52So, Ariel, it is true.
01:08:54You are a traitor.
01:08:55Was it you who led these children of the shadow to the hive?
01:08:59Yes, but you must be made to see they are not children of the shadow.
01:09:02They have a life force that is almost as strong as our own.
01:09:05They are the enemies of our people.
01:09:07If they oppose us, it's because we are trying to do the same thing to them
01:09:10that was done to us so many years ago.
01:09:13Ariel, look at these friends of yours.
01:09:16Notice how they stare at you in fear and confusion,
01:09:19emotional states which in their species inevitably lead to hatred and violence.
01:09:23Yes, they are confused because they feel I have betrayed them,
01:09:26but they're not full of hatred.
01:09:27Your contact with them has blinded you to their true nature, my child.
01:09:31It is the genetic instinct of their species
01:09:34to destroy whatever they cannot understand.
01:09:36Wait a minute, dragon lady.
01:09:37I've had about enough of this.
01:09:39How do you know what we're thinking?
01:09:40So Marlene's an infant, okay.
01:09:42That was kind of a surprise, yeah.
01:09:43But we don't hate her for it.
01:09:45We know she's risked a lot to help us.
01:09:47But as far as you're concerned...
01:09:49See, Ariel?
01:09:50Violence is as natural to them as breathing.
01:09:53Their entire history is a catalog of murder, conquest, and enslavement,
01:09:57all directed against others of their own species.
01:10:00That's not true.
01:10:01Forgive me, Regis, but I've begun to doubt whether we are any better than they.
01:10:05Huh?
01:10:06Sera?
01:10:07You say that this species is guilty of murdering and making slaves of their enemies,
01:10:11but how is that any different from what we are doing on this planet?
01:10:15No!
01:10:16They have come.
01:10:18From beyond the stars,
01:10:20the dark tides of shadow have come
01:10:22to engulf us again.
01:10:24Oh, wow!
01:10:25I didn't know there were that many ships in the whole universe!
01:10:32It's the Expeditionary Force!
01:10:35Well, that does it.
01:10:36Any hope of a peaceful settlement has just gone down the drain.
01:11:07Invaders!
01:11:18Estimate of the Invid troop capability is coming in now, sir.
01:11:21I want a full status report on the assault force entry
01:11:24into the Invid reflex point immediately, Sparks.
01:11:27They're meeting extremely heavy resistance, sir.
01:11:29Hmm.
01:11:30And if we don't win this fight, it's going to mean our total annihilation.
01:11:33If push comes to shove,
01:11:34we can always speed up preparations on the Neutron S missiles,
01:11:37but only if everything else has failed.
01:11:39Yes, but sir, the rest of our troops are fighting down on Earth.
01:11:41If we use the Neutron missiles, they'll all be destroyed!
01:11:44I'm aware of that.
01:11:46However, I'm a believer in the scorched earth tactic.
01:11:48Anything is preferable to the domination of the Invid.
01:11:51Sir!
01:11:53Shadow fighter launch has concluded.
01:11:55Squadron 279er,
01:11:57detach from present coordinates and proceed to reflex point.
01:12:00Over.
01:12:01Roger, command.
01:12:02Squadron leader, we're on our way.
01:12:07This planet too strongly retains the malignant spirit of the Robotech masters.
01:12:12Whether one race or the other emerges victorious is of little meaning.
01:12:17Such hatred can only breed more hatred.
01:12:20My child, this conflict will rage from generation to generation.
01:12:25It is not what we seek.
01:12:27I shall proceed to the world that even now calls to me.
01:12:31We shall consume all the protoculture and rise to a higher plane.
01:12:38Well, sir?
01:12:39I have no choice.
01:12:41I want all our Neutron missiles armed and ready for an immediate offensive against reflex point.
01:12:45Yes, sir.
01:12:47Attention!
01:12:48Attack preparations now commencing for final assault on reflex point.
01:12:52T minus 50 and counting.
01:12:56Lancer, it is an honor to be fighting side by side with you.
01:12:59You know, I've been thinking about how we met. It's funny.
01:13:02Lancer, would it be possible for you to fall in love with one of my race?
01:13:07I don't see a single reason why not.
01:13:09In fact...
01:13:17In fact, I think more than likely.
01:13:19Could you?
01:13:20Why not?
01:13:23I only hope we'll have the time.
01:13:25Well, as we say in showbiz, break a leg.
01:13:28What does that mean?
01:13:29T minus 10 seconds and counting.
01:13:32We are locked onto target coordinates, commander.
01:13:35Ready whenever you are, sir.
01:13:36Commence Neutron missile firing on command.
01:13:39Now!
01:13:48The only thing we can do now is pray it's not a mistake.
01:13:52The final attack has begun and a terrible error has been made.
01:13:57We shall not be defeated!
01:14:07The shadow of the Robotech Masters has been allowed to rule this world for too long.
01:14:15Now it must end.
01:14:23Sera!
01:14:28We can't take them all!
01:14:34You won't have to.
01:14:35Hey, Scott!
01:14:36Thought I'd drop by. Figured you could use the company.
01:14:39You're a very welcome sight.
01:14:41Yeah, well, I'd love to stay and chat, but I suggest we get out of here first.
01:14:45Hear me, my children.
01:14:47When we sensed the first faint indications of the protoculture resources on this world,
01:14:52we thought that at last we had found the home for which we searched.
01:14:58We called together all of our people scattered throughout the galaxies
01:15:02to begin life anew on this planet.
01:15:04We began rebuilding a world that had been nearly destroyed by evil,
01:15:08and we constructed the Genesis Pits in order to pursue the path of enlightened evolution.
01:15:28The Earth is gradually reviving,
01:15:30and eventually will regain its proper balance in accordance with the laws of nature.
01:15:35However, the humans have been influenced too strongly by the shadow of the Robotech Masters.
01:15:40They are intent only on the destruction of their entire race.
01:15:44It shall not be.
01:15:58Whoa!
01:16:03We will continue our evolutionary development elsewhere.
01:16:09Come with me.
01:16:10Discard this world and follow the spirit of light as it beckons us onward.
01:16:24It's finally over.
01:16:26I only wonder if we've really seen the last of them.
01:16:40Okay, boss. Ready whenever you are.
01:16:42The natives are getting restless.
01:16:45Gotcha.
01:16:46Whoa, wait a second. That's it? Just like that?
01:16:49What else could there be?
01:16:51Once the Regis had destroyed the Neutron-S missiles and abandoned the planet, it was all over.
01:16:55No more Invid, no more war.
01:16:57But... but what about the Invid soldier girl? The one who saved her life?
01:17:02It's thanks to her I'm able to believe in the basic goodness of humanity again.
01:17:07But afterwards, we had our own lives to return to.
01:17:09Oh, come on. What about love? You said she told you she...
01:17:14Not every story has a happy ending.
01:17:16I guess I just became... immune to love.
01:17:20That's my cue.
01:17:26Here you go, boss.
01:17:27Thanks.
01:17:40Hey, wait!
01:17:44And now, here he is!
01:17:47The final act in today's Monster Robots...
01:17:51Leo Dantzler!
01:17:55Yeah! Are you ready to rock?
01:17:58Hey!
01:18:22Let us be free
01:18:27Each and every day we dream of winning
01:18:33And beginning
01:18:36A new life
01:18:40Still
01:18:43We must fight or face defeat
01:18:46We must stand tall and not retreat
01:18:53Our strength will find the might
01:18:56There's no fight we can't fight
01:19:00Together
01:19:03All together
01:19:06We can win
01:19:12Blest with strong hearts that beat as one
01:19:20Watch us soar
01:19:23And with love that conquers all
01:19:27We'll win this battle
01:19:30This last battle
01:19:34We will win
01:19:41We must win
01:19:48We will win
01:19:55We will win
01:20:07Immune to love, huh?
01:20:09What a bunch of...
01:20:40What a bunch of...
01:20:47What a bunch of...
01:20:54What a bunch of...
01:21:10Boy, I wouldn't have missed that for the world!
01:21:13Yeah, it was pretty good singing.
01:21:14Huh?
01:21:15For a soldier.
01:21:16Scott?
01:21:17Ran?
01:21:18Marlene?
01:21:19You're all here.
01:21:20I... I, uh...
01:21:21I thought you might need some moral support.
01:21:24You guys, you're... you're just...
01:21:27Yeah, a lot of people tell us that, actually.
01:21:33So the Expeditionary Force is planning this new mission
01:21:36to find Admiral Hunter and the SDF-3.
01:21:41Here, don't forget these.
01:21:44So what do you say, Lancer?
01:21:46You're right. It is an amazing opportunity.
01:21:50But I really think my place is here, on Earth.
01:21:53I feel I can make more of a difference to people
01:21:55as Yellow Dancer than as a soldier.
01:21:58Well, you always were the only one around here
01:22:00with any sense in his skull.
01:22:02Now wait just one second.
01:22:04I don't mean to take offense at that remark.
01:22:06Accepting you, of course, Sugar Lips.
01:22:08Oh, well, when you put it that way.
01:22:34After all of the battles are over
01:22:40After all of the fighting is done
01:22:45You'll be the one
01:22:49To find yourself alone with your heart
01:22:55Looking for the answer
01:22:58When it feels like tomorrow will never come
01:23:04When it seems like the night will not end
01:23:09Can you pretend
01:23:13That you're really not alone
01:23:19You're out here on your own
01:23:25Don't be so troubled
01:23:31But are you really alone
01:23:36Don't be so troubled
01:23:43You're out here on your own
01:23:48Don't be so troubled
01:23:53Out here on your own
01:23:59Don't be so troubled
01:24:23How did it go?
01:24:25No one suspects a thing.
01:24:27But are you sure you have no regrets?
01:24:29You gave up your world for me.
01:24:31Don't be a fool. I did it for us.
01:24:35I can't believe it.
01:24:37Finally, just the two of us.
01:24:40No. The three of us.
01:24:44Only a guru would cry for you
01:24:48Only a guru would cry for you
01:24:52Only a guru would dream
01:24:55Only a guru would dream of you
01:24:58Only a guru would speak to you
01:25:22I feel a cold wind in July
01:25:26And a hot rain in December
01:25:29When I think of all your lies
01:25:32How it hurts me to remember
01:25:35Love's a game you played so well
01:25:38When I thought you loved me only
01:25:42Only a fool would cry for you
01:25:45Only a fool would try for you
01:25:48Try to hold on while love is gone
01:25:52Only a fool would dream
01:25:54Only a fool would dream of you
01:25:57Only a fool would scheme to do
01:26:00All that I can, all that I can
01:26:04To hold you here with me
01:26:09You come around when you're on my touch
01:26:13And you fill me with desire
01:26:17I need you all so much
01:26:20But the heat's gone from your fire
01:26:23You wear a smile all over your face
01:26:27Even when you're loving me
01:26:31Only a fool would cry for you
01:26:35Only a fool would try for you
01:26:38Try to hold on while love is gone
01:26:42Only a fool would dream
01:26:44Only a fool would dream of you
01:26:47Only a fool would scheme to do
01:26:50All that I can, all that I can
01:26:54To hold you here with me
01:26:58All that I can to hold you here with me
01:27:21Only a fool would cry for you
01:27:24Only a fool would try for you
01:27:27Try to hold on while love is gone
01:27:30Only a fool would dream
01:27:33Only a fool would dream of you
01:27:36Only a fool would scheme to do
01:27:39All that I can, all that I can
01:27:43To hold you here with me
01:27:45Only a fool would cry for you
01:27:48Only a fool would try for you
01:27:52Only a fool would dream
01:27:55Only a fool would dream of you
01:27:58Only a fool would scheme to do
01:28:08Only a fool would cry for you
01:28:12Only a fool would try for you
01:28:15Only a fool would cry for you Only a fool would dream of you
01:28:25Only a fool would steal to you
01:28:35Only a fool would cry for you Only a fool would try for you
