00:00We had a plan to rebuild the unit in its entirety but unfortunately that didn't come to fruition.
00:08We had Covid and the cost of the project went through the roof and so we decided to renovate
00:14the existing buildings rather than go ahead with a new design and as it's turned out it's working
00:21very well. The idea was to provide better classrooms for the cadets, insulated to make
00:27it a bit warmer in the winter for them and we've reconfigured three classrooms here and the
00:35simulator room which is next door and as you can see they've all been lined and the electricians
00:42are in at the moment just finishing off all the electrics for us. The roofs have all been
00:47relined, refitted and the January project was to do the toilets and showers which are now finished.
00:57The next one which is the removal of all the old classrooms which were just made out of
01:02plywood and this now is what you see, the new classrooms as they will be and they're a lot
01:11bigger and we had a bit of a wasted space which we've done away with. It was pretty important,
01:18we listened to the staff and they were keen to see the classrooms renovated and I think
01:24when they see the finished item they will be proud to use them. Well some of the older buildings that
01:32were knocked down were built in the 1890s and the buildings you're in at the moment were
01:37accommodation for the old rifle range here and they were built in the 1920s and 30s prior to
01:43the Second World War. The buildings that were built during the Second World War, they were
01:48mostly damaged, severely damaged in the 87 storm and those have now been replaced with new buildings.
