00:00Atlanta was always blacker than, you know, most people thought in terms of what it was.
00:08It wasn't run by black people at that particular time because after Lester Maddox, you know,
00:13Atlanta did start to grow when Maynard Jackson became the first black mayor and things started
00:18to change and the growth that Frank saw in his mind or the growth that Chicken Man was
00:26seeing, there are a lot of people there in that particular film that are trying to get
00:31to a particular place, striving through it. Don's character, the cop, I had a cousin,
00:37my wife's cousin, he became my cousin, my wife's cousin was one of those first 23 policemen
00:44in Atlanta and he actually became the chief of police at a certain point named Elgin Bell.
00:50So a lot of those things I know about because I was there and I was part of them. I was around
00:56certain people that did it. I was around people who got robbed in the robbery. I know some of
01:00those people. My wife's house that she grew up in is a block and a half away from the place where
01:07it happened. So Collier Heights was where, you know, rich, rich and well-to-do black people
01:13lived and that's where the, you know, robbery was. So I have a lot, I came to this with a lot
01:20of information or a lot of knowledge about what was going on in the reality of it and in the
01:29mythology of what that whole thing was when it happened.
