00:04Kevin had correctly identified a lost Vermeer landscape, and the store was sure to see an

00:11Kevin was pleased to have helped, but then he suddenly noticed a few traces of dirt on
00:15the painting.
00:16Then he recalled that when he bent down to look at the painting, there was a slight moldy
00:20scent.
00:21Could this painting have been buried somewhere, Kevin thought to himself.
00:26Kevin was so happy about this find that he hugged Phoebe and said,
00:30''Please make sure this gentleman is paid immediately.''
00:34Then he turned and walked up the stairs to the second floor.
00:37While this was going on, most of the local antique shop owners who had watched the whole
00:41scene took out their phones and started looking up the Dutch masters on the internet.
00:46When they saw how much the painting was actually worth, they were filled with envy.
00:51The seller happily accepted the payment and walked out of the store whistling.
00:55After a little while, Truman returned to the showroom.
00:58He walked up to Kevin and put a card into his hand.

01:15Kevin replied with a smile.
01:17Of course, he gladly accepted Truman's gift.
01:20This bonus was probably nothing compared to the profit that the store could make on the

01:27Truman said sincerely.
01:28''You may be young, but you're an excellent appraiser.

01:35Truman was obviously excited about his newest acquisition.
01:38Seeing Kevin's potential, he thought it would be nice to have a talk with him.

02:00Then Kevin headed out the door.
02:02Phoebe, Matilda, and the others were surprised to see Kevin leave in such a hurry.

02:12As soon as he stepped out of the door, he spotted the man who had just sold the painting.

02:23Then he tailed him to see where he could be heading.
02:26After two hours of this, he saw the man go below street level to Wacker Drive, the road
02:31that runs under part of downtown Chicago.
02:33It's mainly for through traffic and deliveries to keep congestion off the surface straights.
02:39Otherwise things would be an even bigger mess at rush hour.
02:42There wasn't much room to walk, but Kevin watched the guy go up to a few men near a
02:46loading dock.
02:47This was in a part of the underground street that was off the beaten path.
02:51Not many prying eyes, except for his.
02:54He could hear one of them talk.
02:56''Greg, what took you so long?
02:59Did you sell that thing?''
03:00''I wasted a lot of time in that shop,'' he said as he pulled out his bank card.
03:05''I sold the painting for 200 thou, easy money.''
03:09The one who seemed to be in charge asked him, ''Was it worth that much?''
03:13''I guess so,'' Greg answered.
03:15''Not bad for a day's work, eh Johnny?''
03:18The other man asked, ''Should we head down to the south side again tonight and see what
03:22else we can dig up?''
03:24Greg was interested in trying again.
03:26''Yeah Max, good idea.
03:29Last night we only dug out one painting and got 200,000 for it.
03:33Maybe we can find some more good stuff.''
03:36Kevin who was hiding in the shadows heard everything they were saying.
03:39He couldn't believe it.
03:41Could they be grave robbers?
03:42Did anyone still do that?
03:45Just then the head grave robber suddenly looked over to where he was hiding.
03:48''Who's over there?
03:50Why don't you come a little closer?''
03:52Could they have seen me?
03:54Kevin wondered.
03:55Just as he was about to escape he heard a woman's voice.
03:58''You guys are really bold.
04:01Robbing tombs?
04:02Aren't you superstitious?''
04:04The woman walked out from behind a container less than ten yards away from Kevin on the
04:09other side of the loading dock.
04:11Kevin was stunned to see Officer Emmett.
04:14How come he kept running into her in all these different places?
04:17''So, who's our visitor?
04:20You know you're interrupting a private meeting.''
04:22Johnny said in a threatening tone.
04:24Then he turned to his buddies and said ''She's a beauty, isn't she?''
04:29''Yeah, I like what I see.''
04:31Greg added.
04:32''Why don't you come over here and have a seat?''
04:34Hearing their boorish comments Officer Emmett started to get a little ticked off.
04:39Actually she'd been aware of this group of thieves for a long time.
04:43Early this morning she caught a break when she spotted them near one of the older cemeteries
04:47on the south side.
04:48It was pretty much abandoned so it was surprising to see traffic there, especially so early
04:53in the day.
04:55She had figured they were up to something so instead of heading to the station she followed
04:58them here.
05:00It had turned out to be a long sneak out while she waited for Greg to come back but she wanted
05:04more proof of how they were fencing their loot.
05:08Just as Officer Emmett had suspected, they'd robbed one of the mausoleums that were hidden
05:12back in the woods away from the Holy Redemption Cemetery's main entrance.
05:17Rumor had it that bootleggers had hidden a lot of their valuables in the cemeteries back
05:21in the 1920s.
05:23Maybe they had stumbled onto something.
05:25She wanted to call for backup but the cell signal was really crappy down there under
05:30the street, especially in her hiding place behind a shipping container.
05:35Officer Emmett advised them ''You're under arrest.
05:38I've recorded your conversation and thanks for having it out here in public where I wouldn't
05:42need a warrant.
05:44If you surrender quietly I might ask the court to go easy on you.''
05:48Johnny answered in a creepy tone, ''I'll tell you what, why don't you come with us?
05:53It can get pretty lonely down at the cemetery.''
05:56Max added, ''Good idea, I've never seen such a pretty cop.''
06:01In spite of her training in conflict resolution, Officer Emmett was getting irritated, ''If
06:06you guys keep this up I'll have to use force.''
06:09She pulled her badge out of her pocket and informed them, ''I'm Lieutenant Kelly Emmett
06:14of the Chicago Police Department, you're all under arrest.''
06:17''I don't care who you are, we don't want you here.''
06:21Johnny laughed.
06:22Then a few more men came out of the shadows and joined them.
06:26They started walking towards her, ''I order you to stop.''
06:30Emmett knew she was in trouble and she was kicking herself for not calling for backup.
06:34''Don't worry, I won't hurt you.''
06:37Johnny the group's leader had a sadistic smile on his face, ''But these guys might.''
06:43She ordered them again, ''Stop right there, don't move.''
06:47Emmett instinctively reached for her hip, but she wasn't in uniform so her service weapon
06:52was locked up safely at the station.
06:55''Great, now what am I going to do?''
06:58She anxiously thought to herself.
07:00By then the men had surrounded her, there were six of them.
07:04Just as Kevin was about to show himself, he saw Officer Emmett knock one of them to the
07:08ground with a beautiful sidekick.
07:10She moved like lightning.
07:12Kevin was impressed with her fighting skills.
07:15In less than a minute four or five of them were on the ground either unconscious or writhing
07:20in pain.
07:21''Pretty good'' Johnny said in surprise.
07:25She spoke to the two robbers who were still standing, ''Put your hands on your heads and
07:29kneel on the ground.''
07:31Greg the one who'd sold the painting to the Andersons had been lying on the pavement.
07:36Emmett thought she had knocked him out, but she was wrong.
07:39The man jumped up, pulled out a switchblade and held it to her throat.
07:44''Not today officer, it looks like maybe we're going to be arresting you instead.''
07:50Johnny said as he motioned for the others to tie her up with their belts.
07:54Officer Emmett began to worry that they were interested in more than robbing graves.
07:59Just then they were all surprised to hear a man's voice from the shadows.
08:03''You guys really are scum.
08:06Grave robbery is one thing, but what were you thinking of doing to this nice lieutenant,
08:11one of Chicago's finest?''
08:13They all looked over and saw Kevin deliberately walking out from behind a box truck while
08:18he brushed the dust off his clothes.
08:21''Kevin?''
08:22Officer Emmett exclaimed.
08:23''Hurry up and call the police.''
08:26Kevin heard her but kept moving forward.
08:28He didn't have any intention of leaving.
08:31''Dammit, Greg, you let someone follow you?''
08:36Johnny said in an annoyed tone of voice.
08:38''Boss, don't worry, it's just the appraiser from the antique store.''
08:41''An appraiser?''
08:44Johnny scoffed.
08:45They were all stunned, especially Officer Emmett.
08:48''Kevin, run.
08:49Just call the police and we'll be fine.''
08:51She shouted as she struggled against her restraints.
08:55''Shut up!''
08:56Johnny said as he grabbed her mouth and poured in a bottle of pills.
09:00''After we deal with him, we'll get back to you.''
09:03He snarled.
09:05Emmett coughed and asked him frantically.
09:07''What did you just do?''
09:09''Don't be such a killjoy,'' he answered.
09:12''You're going to take a nice nap.''
09:16Officer Emmett struggled even more intensely when she heard this.
09:19''What the hell is wrong with this guy?''
09:22Kevin wondered.
09:23Then Greg shouted at Kevin.
09:25''You followed me?
09:26I sold the painting and you guys bought it.
09:29Just business.
09:30What do you want now?''
09:31''Don't get excited,'' Kevin said calmly.
09:34''Shouldn't you be thanking me?''
09:36''Why should I be thanking you?'' he shouted.
09:40Kevin shook his head and replied.
09:41''If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have gotten a penny for your forgery.''
09:45''You're saying it was a fake?''
09:47The man asked in shock.
09:49Kevin saw the other thugs starting to move towards him.
09:52He ripped through them in seconds, tossing the large men left and right.
09:56''Who the hell are you?''
09:58The last man standing asked in horror.
10:01Kevin couldn't resist.
10:03Gritting his teeth, he snarled.
10:05''Who am I?''
10:06''I'm an antiques appraiser!''
10:08After he said this, the man fainted.
10:12Officer Emmett looked like she was in shock.
10:14Kevin knelt down next to her and started to remove her restraints.
10:17''Are you alright?
10:19Do you think you can stand up?''
10:21She didn't answer right away.
10:23She just shook her head in disbelief.
10:26Kevin took the belt and walked over to the unconscious men.
10:29He began to search their bodies as he tied them up.
10:33Looking through the pockets of the head gangster, Johnny, he found a pill bottle.
10:37''What the heck is this?''
10:39Kevin wondered.
10:40''It could be worse,'' Officer Emmett said slowly.
10:43''When he poured the pills in my mouth, he was so distracted by you that I managed to
10:47spit most of them out.''
10:49She nodded over to the gross pile on the pavement.
10:52Kevin handed her the bottle so she could take a look at the label.
10:55Then she added, ''Yup.
10:57Looks like they were tranquilizers.
10:58I may have swallowed a couple, but it would still be nice to get an ambulance down here
11:02right away.
11:03And a couple of squad cars.''
11:05''Can you get a signal down here?''
11:08She asked him.
11:09Kevin nodded and then he took out his phone to call for help.
