The nation’s capital is preparing for a flock of visitors for this year’s Floriade Flower Festival. An unseasonably warm end to the winter had promoted fears some flowers may have bloomed too soon, but organisers have assured visitors there will be plenty to enjoy over the next four weeks.

00:09here at the annual 37th Floriade Festival.
00:13Today is a pretty chilly, cold spring day, but it hasn't stopped more than a million
00:19bulbs from blooming.
00:21This year, organisers are hoping to break records and bring more than 450,000 people
00:27from across the country to here in Canberra through the gates from this Saturday, and
00:33with them, spend millions for the Canberra economy.
00:37It's not just flowers and gardens that these visitors will be treated to, they'll also
00:42be treated to performances, exhibitions, and a very special adults-only night festival.
00:48And at the end of the four weeks, visitors will be able to take a piece of floriade home
00:53with them.
