The Sakadang River in Taiwan's Taroko National Park has managed to maintain its rich biodiversity despite the devastation wrought by a magnitude 7.2 earthquake that hit eastern Hualien County in April.

00:127.2 earthquake that struck Taiwan in April.
00:33Despite the earthquake's devastation of the gorge, officials report that the Sakadan River's
00:38ecology appears to have held on to its rich biodiversity.
00:53Rangers say they've been working to remove invasive species that have appeared in the
00:56river in recent years.
00:58And they have more to do to protect the native ecology.
01:02But for now at least, life finds a way, even in the face of some of Mother Nature's most
01:07extreme conditions.
