You can already see and sometimes even touch things in VR, but what about smell?
Transcript
00:00The Metaverse is okay, but it's not really wowing anyone with its graphics or utility
00:08just yet.
00:09But what if you could pop on your VR goggles and glide into Zuckerberg's world, pick
00:12a flower, and literally smell it?
00:14Well, that's exactly what Japanese tech startup AromaJoin is hoping to allow you to
00:18do with this.
00:19A device they say will let you tickle your least suspecting senses virtually.
00:23They're calling it the Aroma Shooter, probably named that because it targets your nose and
00:27your nose only, not letting any of the odors out into the environment, which the company
00:31says means the smells will never mix accidentally.
00:34The whole thing works with small cartridges of solid state odors.
00:36Each one contains different olfactory arousers, which can then be combined by the device to
00:40pretty much come up with any scent.
00:42They have also released a scent creator to go along with it, so users can come up with
00:46their own aromas to correspond to their own digital items.
00:49The company already has an aroma diffuser that does a similar thing, but this wearable
00:52version is currently being crowdfunded.
00:54They are now adding more scents to their ever-increasing library, but we can't help but wonder, will
00:58this be used for good or for evil?
