00:00So I did fertility treatment to have the baby.
00:03And there was this look.
00:04And then I had a cesarean.
00:05And it all felt very disassociated
00:07with how you'd imagine the beauty of birth to be.
00:10And I looked at my child, and I'm half Spanish and half
00:14English and a bottle blonde.
00:16I'm actually brunette.
00:17And my kid's dad is North African.
00:20And I just expected that this child would be mixed.
00:23And I looked down at this blonde baby.
00:26And I was like, it's funny now I say it.
00:29But I didn't know if it was mine or not.
00:31And actually, obviously, she is.
00:33Like, I've raised her.
00:34But actually, that happens a lot to people
00:37who go through fertility treatment
00:38or who have cesareans or who have difficult births,
00:40where we all want to go, I love this child instantly.
00:43I know this child.
00:44This child looks like me.
00:45And socially, that's what we expect.
00:46And that's what we expect.
00:47And we're pressured to feel that.
00:49And I didn't.
00:50And I just was, and I wrote, I actually
00:52wrote an email to the fertility clinic
00:55to see if there was a chance that they might have used
00:58somebody else's sperm or egg.
