00:00How does it feel heading into this weekend? Is it just like all celebratory?
00:04Is it just like kind of like run and gun no time to relax? How are you feeling?
00:08It's a pretty intense couple of days. I landed from England on Thursday night and I leave again on Monday morning
00:15So yeah, so so the weekends are kind of concentrated thing. You don't really get a chance to stop for breath
00:21Well, but you know just to be part of the buzz of it and the energy of it and and kind of plonk yourself into
00:27It for a few days. It's really really exciting
00:29And you know, I'm just I'm just thrilled to be here and thrilled to feel part of this amazing community of talent
00:35I heard that this party though is one of the best parties of the weekend
00:39So what do you think makes the Baptist Tea Party so fun? Is it just that the Brits have more fun?
00:44Well
00:45Speaking for myself. No, but but yeah, I I love this one
00:49There's something about there's something about it being the daytime and there's something about it being a bit less formal
00:54You know people are dressed a bit less formal and and you know
00:57It's it's usually outdoors and in nice weather
00:59It feels a bit like a kind of there's more of a kind of barbecue II
01:03Afternoon type of feel to it's a bit less stuffy and a bit less formal and people can just be a bit more relaxed
01:07I think and I think that's why people love this one
01:09I know you recently talked about being a part of three-body problem and how you kind of felt limited before then after your time at
01:16Game of Thrones in terms of the characters and roles that you were being offered
01:19How would you say that sort of changed now by being a part of three-body problem and kind of going forward
01:25Well, I think that the great thing about my part in three-body problem
01:28Is that I don't think it could have been given to me by anybody who didn't know me really well
01:32I think that once you once you play a certain part for a number of years
01:35Especially if it's your first role people think that's what you're like, but it turns out
01:40I'm
01:40Quite different from the characters that I played in Game of Thrones and it's only because David and Dan knew me so well
01:45That they knew that I could do other stuff. So they gave me this chance and yeah
01:49It's been a bit of a reset and I'm kind of looking forward to playing characters that are a bit more a bit bit more
01:55Light and a bit more confident and a bit more comfortable with themselves and yeah, we'll just see what that brings
01:59But yes, it's like a nice reset
02:01They've kind of changed my whole career once for Game of Thrones and it feels like they've kind of changed it all over again
02:05I love that. Well since we are at a tea party, I'm gonna have you spill the tea on a few things
02:10Can you spill the tea on the best thing you've seen on TV this year?
02:15Well, I think I think the thing that came out the blue and took everybody by surprise was baby reindeer this year
02:21In terms in terms of you know, there wasn't it wasn't a big hard launch
02:25There wasn't like a lot of publicity around it. It was just a real word-of-mouth
02:30Success you heard people talking you saw people on social media talking about it heard people talking about it
02:34and it became one of the biggest hits of the year and I think it's a it's a great testament to you don't need a
02:40Enormous budget you don't even need like
02:43Star power in it if the story and the writing is good enough
02:47They'll make those people into stars and I'm so delighted for everybody in it. What's the show that you would love to guest are on?
02:53Well up until up until it finished last year. It would have been succession
02:57There's just something about that show that I had a unique kind of
03:03Flavor to it and it was kind of from a from a individual perspective
03:07So I would have loved to have to have been in that at some point and finally who is the last person from the three
03:13Body problem cast that you texted and what did you say? I?
03:16Texted Benedict Wong about 30 seconds ago because he's supposed to be joining me here in a second and he's and he's running late
03:23I'm not gonna I'm not gonna tell you what it said might not be suitable for whatever platform
03:28This is but he's on his way. Keep an eye out for him. Fair enough. Fair enough
03:31Well, enjoy your time here today. Good to see you again
03:37You
