00:00Welcome to the Hastings Seafood and Wine. For the first time it's going to be run independently
00:05from the Hastings Borough Council who have run it for many years and unfortunately due
00:10to budgets unable to do it this year. So a group of very enthusiastic, passionate people
00:16about Hastings got together to put this event on because we know it's so popular. Events
00:21like this are really important to the town because it's such a community vibe here. We've
00:26got some great creative people and it's also about the sustainable fishing fleet that we
00:33are trying to still maintain. This year will be a learning curve because obviously like
00:39anything starting out first we won't get everything right but yes we have plans to do other events
00:45and all the people in our group are so enthusiastic about putting other events on. It's absolutely
00:50brilliant to be here today at the Hastings Seafood and Wine Festival. I have to say I
00:55was here last night dancing away to Stop Stop. It's really sad that because of the
01:03budgetary situation the council at this time have not been able to fund it as we did in
01:09the past. However these events are absolutely crucial to Hastings. They are Hastings, they're
01:15part of our life of Hastings. They bring the visitors into our town and that's what we
01:21need. We are a tourist destination and to see everybody working and see the traders
01:28and the people working together to make this event happen is absolutely brilliant and I
01:34mean a really well done to them. I'm looking forward and hope everyone enjoys a brilliant
01:41weekend. You can't get an Airbnb this weekend and we only announced four weeks ago we were
01:46able to do this. It's great for the town, it's great for the business and I have a lot
01:53of music, 12 bands on this weekend right through to Sunday at 6pm. We formed a CIC, that's
02:01a community company, non-profit and we called ourselves State Events and we aim to bring
02:11back the Midsummer Fish Fest that's been slashed and also the Good Old Herring Fair
02:17in the winter, perhaps with a Christmas Fair. That's what we aim to do. If this all works
02:22out today, this weekend, that's what we'll be doing. State Events is what we're called.
02:28Keep it going. Let's keep seafood, wine and music festival on the go.
