00:00So, a phone I like that has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 25%, an AMD score of 6.2, so it's
00:09not too bad, and an Amazon score of 4.6 out of 10.
00:13That's bad, when Amazon scores low, oh my god, when some movies are...
00:19It's a wee phone called Dracula Untold.
00:21Dracula Untold.
00:22Yeah.
00:23He's on that.
00:24That's...
00:25Fuck, I don't like it a lot.
00:27I think I recognise the star of it.
00:29Luke Evans.
00:30Hi.
00:31Luke Evans stars as Dracula, but he's really like Vlad the Impaler.
00:36Oh, so it's not even like, he's not really a vampire yet, kind of?
00:39Aye, he starts off as the Impaler, I don't know if he's called, he's called Vlad the
00:43Impaler to start, a Transylvanian prince, but you know, like, Vlad the Impaler is known
00:48for being quite a horrible person, you know, literally impaling people in the worst way
00:53possible.
00:54Putting this phone...
00:55Oh, so it's like a sympathetic, like, per Vlad.
00:58He's like a good guy and he cares for his country.
01:00By impaling people.
01:01By impaling people.
01:04And then, throughout the film, he gets tempted by, not Dracula, what do you call it, is it
01:09Nosferatu?
01:10Nosferatu, yeah.
01:11He gets tempted by Nosferatu and they give it him, they get more power to protect his
01:16country.
01:17Really, it's a nationalist story.
01:18Close to home, that's close to home.
01:22Protecting, protecting your homeland.
01:24So, he gives him this power and it's just such cheesy, crappy vampire, like...
01:31Like the worst, not the worst, I feel like Vampire Diaries and stuff like that are probably
01:34the worst, like, cheesy vampire books.
01:36No, it's not like the romantic kind of, like, being a vampire, it's kind of like the pirate
01:40fantasy of it, which I think is the fun part of the film, like, he gets these stupid pirates
01:45and they can take out a whole army, but the film is pretty pirating, pretty pir-plot and
01:52it's just, it's not a good film, but I like it because it's so cheesy and so stupid, I
01:56don't know, and I kind of just like the whole vampire mythology.
02:00When done well, it can be really interesting, and even when not done well, you still have
02:04interesting aspects to it.
02:05Exactly.
02:06Is Nosferatu, like, an actual, like, being in it?
02:07Is it actual, like, Nosferatu from, like, what you'd think of, like, bald vampire?
02:13Ah.
02:14Like, he's just in there?
02:15Yeah.
02:16Is he just living in a castle all the way?
02:17No, he lives in a cave.
02:18Well, is this, like, a Gollum's Smeagol type thing, where, like, Dracula's, like, listening
02:24and he can hear, or, like, just whispers in the night, or?
02:27No, he goes in this cave and then he's like, I can give you so much power, and he's like,
02:33no, I won't take home, because, like, the deal is, you know, someone you love will die
02:37for your power, and he's like.
02:38So, like, I'm turning away, I'm being like, no, I can't.
02:39No, I can't do it.
02:40But he eventually has to return to save his country, and then he becomes Dracula, the
02:46creature of the night, and wipes out a whole army.
02:50Just the whole army.
02:51Fair play to him.
02:53My favourite part of Fallout, though, is actually the end credits scene, is when it's modern
02:57day.
02:58It teases a sequel, and he's walking through, like, New York or something like that, and
03:03Nosferatu comes back, and he's all, we have some unfinished business to get through.
03:06Teasing the sequel that's never happened, and never will happen.
03:16My father was a great man.
03:20A hero, so they say.
03:25Sometimes the world doesn't need another hero.
03:31Sometimes, what it needs, is a monster.
03:39They actually did really well.
03:40There was, like, caution, they say.
03:41Like, the designer, this poem's really well done.
03:44Like, the castle, and see the cinematography was actually in pain on people.
03:48It actually is really cool looking.
03:49That's what I would say it does well.
03:51It's a cool volume, but it's just not run well at all.
03:54In a movie, I was going to bring up to you, The Blade Trinity.
03:59Seen, like, the first 10-15 minutes.
04:01I had one with Ryan Reynolds, too, for 10-15 minutes.
04:03You get a look at, like, Dracula, like a flashback.
04:06The coolest badass set of armor you've ever seen.
04:10Don't see it again.
04:12It's like, man, how do you do something like that?
04:14And then just sack it off for Ryan Reynolds.
04:17He's got, like, a weird set of beard, as well.
04:21But he's wearing this, like, kick-ass set of armor, all red and all.
04:25It just looks evil.
04:27And I was like, he should be in that in the movie, not walk around with his eyes glistening.
04:32And I was like, you know, I don't like the way they do vampires in that third movie.
04:36No, I mean, Blade did vampires so well in the first one.
04:40They were still a bit goofy.
04:42It still has that cheesy kind of, what was it, 90s, wasn't it?
04:44Still has that kind of cheesy 90s thing going on.
04:47I feel like the whole, like, sexy vampire thing gets old immediately.
04:51Because it's just, it's so overdone.
04:54I don't care for it at all.
04:56But apart from that, I think the action in the movies are just, it's always good.
04:59Because Wesley Snipes is just that good as Blade.
05:02I haven't seen three, but what I know about it,
05:05I love the fact that I've seen where he's lying down.
05:09He refused to open his eyes.
05:11That makes it better than anything.
05:13There's like wee tidbits.
05:14I love that.
05:15I love going in and being like, oh, he just didn't want anything.
05:19Imagine your friends and his eyes are actually closed.
05:22He refused to open them.
05:23They had to CGI his eyes open.
05:25Why?
05:26It's that sort of stubborn actor attitude
05:29of what produced Blade 1, a masterpiece.
05:32So, can't fault him.
05:34Somebody always ice skating the hill.
05:36Staying on the theme of vampires,
05:39the whole trend of vampire films just ain't good.
05:42They're kind of off and on, aren't they?
05:44Every movie has its positives and negatives, but there's two copies.
05:47One that we've both seen is Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.
05:51Fast movie.
05:52Which is god-awful, but so stupid and fun.
05:56It's such a hell yeah movie.
05:58Abraham Lincoln kills vampires.
06:00Hell yeah.
06:01It's actually quite slow, the parts of mine,
06:04when he's working in a shop and everything just goes on forever.
06:06It takes a long time for him to even become a vampire hunter.
06:08Even after he knows he's supposed to be a king vampire hunter,
06:12after he tells him,
06:14your man tells him,
06:15he goes back to working in a shop.
06:17Yep.
06:18It's a noose fest.
06:19Once it gets going.
06:21It's strange, because they still try
06:23to weave the whole history aspect.
06:26I'm pretty sure they have the Gettysburg speech in it.
06:28Why?
06:29But then, famous litterers killing vampires with an axe.
06:32Are you saying this wasn't based on true events?
06:34Maybe it's a true story.
06:36It could be.
06:37The zombie Abraham Lincoln movie.
06:39Is there a zombie one? I haven't seen that one.
06:40Yeah, there's a zombie one.
06:41It's a lot worse.
06:42It takes place in one location.
06:43What hasn't Abraham Lincoln hunted?
06:46Alien.
06:47Did he do werewolves?
06:48Alien.
06:49Is it on werewolves?
06:50Did he do werewolves?
06:51Oh, he might have.
06:52He might have been a werewolf.
06:53That's why he hated vampires so much.
06:55Oh my gosh, I never thought of it like that.
06:57But that's some of the worst scares ever.
07:01Some of the worst CGA I've ever seen.
07:03I think it was a AAA budget movie.
07:07Proper production.
07:08Awful.
07:09Just actually awful.
07:10It actually hurts to look at.
07:11There's one scene in particular that I think of that actually has good action.
07:15I don't know if you remember, but he goes into this mansion full of vampires.
07:19And the action in that scene is actually really good.
07:21And then it just goes back to the beginning.
07:23It's this one where he goes in there by himself.
07:25And then he gets bailed out by the wagon.
07:29Good scenes in bad movies, isn't it?
07:31I suppose that kind of explains why I like them.
07:34I mean, that's scored a 34% in Rotten Tomatoes.
07:38But then again, reviews all over the place, because 9MB is a 5.9.
07:43I can't really rely on them reviews.
07:45I feel like you just have to maybe read the plot synopsis and just decide for yourself
07:49whether or not I'm going to like this movie.
07:51I definitely get caught up in that way, but I would,
07:53before I watch a film, I would Google a review,
07:55and then I'd compare it to another film, and that's how I'd decide.
07:57I'm probably actually missing out on watching a film that I would really like.
08:00Enjoy? I do.
08:02Why not? I like schlock horror movies.
08:05But I'll sometimes Google and be like, oh, 20%.
08:08Might give this one a pass.
08:10But I feel like if it has a high enough budget,
08:12it can't be too bad, you know what I mean?
08:14There's a standard there, and you can still enjoy it.
08:17Another vampire movie.
08:19Another one?
08:20Another one, 30 Days of Night.
08:21I haven't seen that.
08:22This is proper.
08:24This is how vampires should be done.
08:27This is fancy pants shenanigans.
08:29This is...
08:30They are predators.
08:31They know what they're doing.
08:34Somebody!
08:37Help!
08:41I saw a new tease.
08:43Do vampires hear?
08:45Vampires don't exist, Jake.
08:54That cold ain't the weather.
08:56Death approaching.
08:59We're tearing through everyone's home.
09:06We can last a month.
09:26It takes place in this town in Alaska
09:29where for 30 days of the year, it's night time.
09:32But in real life, it's actually three months.
09:35But they're just shortening it down for the movie.
09:38So basically, it's just night turns.
09:40The vampires go out.
09:42It's sort of low-level.
09:44It's like they get stranded off a ship.
09:46And they've been there for generations.
09:48This year's the year they're just going to kill everyone.
09:52That's when they decide.
09:54That's when they decide.
09:56The vampires are like...
09:57There's no fangs.
09:58They just have sharp teeth.
10:00But if they kill everyone,
10:01does that mean they can't feed on anybody anymore?
10:03But then people come back.
10:05People leave.
10:07Because they don't want to stay in the town there.
10:09So only a certain amount of people are left.
10:11They're going to feed on them.
10:13And that would be the cycle.
10:15But the way they do vampires in the movie,
10:17the horror of them,
10:19it's almost like a cross between werewolves
10:21where these are just animals.
10:23So they're more like monsters in the typical...
10:25They're just sharp teeth.
10:27But for that,
10:29it's far more like the whole romantic,
10:31dramatised vampire where it's
10:33all the power.
10:35You're like, no, these are just...
10:37This is danger.
10:38This is real threat.
10:39And you have a real group of survivors
10:41trying to survive.
10:43I mean, do you think it's twilight
10:45that has had that effect on the vampire films?
10:48They can't make them be like this.
10:50It wasn't the first one.
10:52Like Bram Stoker's Dracula.
10:54That kind of had the Gary Oldman
10:56sort of thing going on.
10:58Vampires haven't been done a disservice.
11:00I feel like you can do a balance
11:02where they can be monsters
11:04but they also be intelligent at the same time.
11:06It just needs to be done a wee bit more.
11:08I think that's supposed to be the thing with vampires,
11:10that they're supposed to be intelligent
11:12while the werewolves are supposed to be dumb creatures.
11:14I feel like you could have more animals
11:16like vampires in the movie.
11:18They'd be better off for it.
11:20Another one that is considered a bad film
11:22but I enjoy it.
11:24I think it's probably because I've seen it as a child
11:26and I've seen it in 3D in the cinema.
11:28I came out in 2010 so I would have been 10
11:30or 9 depending on the month.
11:32It was Clash of Titans.
11:34It's just a class film.
11:36It's funny how Movishy's just...
11:38It's a big strong man.
11:40Titan big monsters.
11:42Like Scorpions, isn't it?
11:44I think it was actually my introduction
11:46to group mythology.
11:48The Kraken and group mythology.
11:50It wasn't even a big tentacle monster.
11:52It was just a big sea monster.
11:54Just a big thing in the sea.
11:56Isn't Liam Neeson a...
11:58Liam Neeson's Zeus.
12:00Right, Zeus.
12:02Rigor.
12:04I think it's a fun film.
12:06It's got good action.
12:08Action's obviously all of it.
12:10It's almost a let down though
12:12because the action is actually really good.
12:14But it's just everything else in the movie
12:17it's almost a wee bit too boring to enjoy.
12:19When I think about the scenes
12:21in the Greek Pantheon
12:23when it's just completely lit
12:25it can burn your eyes at how well lit it is.
12:27It's so, so bright.
12:29And then they go back to
12:31the sands in the desert.
12:33It's a weird film.
12:35Isn't that the moment they have to kill
12:39Medusa?
12:41And then use that to kill the Kraken.
12:43Ah!
12:45That's why it's good.
12:47Is it like he uses a mirror or something?
12:49Is there a reflection or something?
12:51I think he uses a shield.
12:55Fair play to him.
12:57Got another one.
12:59The whole Transformers series
13:01up until Mark Wahlberg comes out.
13:03I think it's a trilogy.
13:05I would still consider it the first one.
13:07The first one is a good movie.
13:09But I feel like the other two aren't as appreciated
13:11as the first one.
13:13The CGI in the movie was just amazing.
13:15It's crazy how good it was from when it came out.
13:17And the action.
13:19You can tell what's going on.
13:21You don't really get lost.
13:23I think if you're paying attention
13:25you can tell what's going on.
13:27Sometimes I feel like it can look a bit messy
13:29because they look similar sometimes.
13:31I feel like the one flaw
13:33is the actual design of the faces.
13:35Maybe they could be a bit more distinguished.
13:37Even sometimes the voices.
13:39Sometimes you can tell
13:41they're more animalistic.
13:43I think a lot of Decepticons
13:45are usually just grey or black.
13:47The heroes are colourful.
13:49You can identify Bumblebee
13:51and Mildeway.
13:53You can identify Optimus from Mildeway.
13:55It's that Michael Bay, Gone Mellow Grey approach
13:57where everything has to be cool and badass
13:59and Linkin Park and Green Day.
14:01I love the soundtrack.
14:03Got you in the Green Day.
14:05Got me in the Green Day and Linkin Park.
14:07Oh, what?
14:09They're weirdly edgy as well sometimes.
14:11He's got some really crude humour.
14:13The dialogue's really off-putting sometimes
14:15because these people
14:17are supposed to be friends and family
14:19but everyone's awful to each other.
14:21The worst language used against each other.
14:23Does Michael Bay not have a word?
14:25Like, friends?
14:27Does he not know how family dynamics work?
14:29No, they will.
14:31You can almost tell
14:33the fallouts between him and staff.
14:35The way he treated
14:37your woman, what's her name?
14:39Megan Fox.
14:41I finally see you got that role
14:43in this thick of a film.
14:45I didn't hear about that.
14:47I know your man, Tom Miller
14:49in the future one, he got killed off
14:51because they hated each other that much.
14:53TJ Miller's an awful actor
14:55and I'm glad he was kicked out of the end.
14:57But no, the movie's going so downhill
14:59after, I thought,
15:01out of three, three just about squished by
15:03because I think Shia LaBeouf
15:06in that role, I don't know if he suits it, he suits being a wee bit crazy.
15:08Kinda not understood
15:10character. Can I get that?
15:12I mean, he's charismatic in a way
15:14like, this guy's mental though, you know, he seems a good crack.
15:16I, like, he has a good
15:18heart, but he's just completely lost.
15:20I love the second one where he just completely
15:22loses the plot.
15:24Oh, class.
15:26He nearly fornicates with a transformer too
15:28it was kinda freaky. That's such a mental thing
15:30and it just makes no sense.
15:32Transformers, since when can they eat humans?
15:34Only Michael Bay could put that in a movie
15:36but hey, top movie.
15:38There's such a unique look to him as well
15:40like everyone's really well tanned
15:42and they're all sweaty
15:44and they're all greasy
15:46you almost start sweating
15:48once in a while, you're like, what's going on in here?
15:50It's crazy, man.
15:52And some of the outfits Megan Fox is wearing, it's like, Jesus Christ.
15:54Michael Bay, can you calm down?
15:56She was 18 when they were filming it or something, it was crazy.
15:58She was young, crazy.
16:00I can't watch this crudo
16:02And hers, did it?
16:04It started her career, I think.
16:06Can I go by the
16:08monsters, the Resident Evil films?
16:10The first one is considered good.
16:12I like the sequels.
16:14This is the one you've lost me completely.
16:16Those movies are awful.
16:18They're good.
16:20I don't even particularly like your woman
16:22I just think she's so generic.
16:24I don't know.
16:26I think they're really fun films
16:28they don't really pretend
16:30to be higher art
16:32they know that these are games
16:34based, these are films based off games.
16:36I get the first one, but I feel like
16:38the rest, I'm like
16:40The first one is actually something unique though.
16:42Here's the characters from the games
16:44on the films.
16:46They're not like Delvin, they're kind of slow
16:48there's too much
16:50too much gaps between the actions
16:52just to be a dumb film.
16:54And the later ones, but the ones I particularly like
16:56is Afterlife and Apocalypse
16:58the one where she lands on a
17:00ballroom
17:02with a plane and there's just zombies everywhere
17:04like surrounding this ballroom
17:06and it's the ballroom's full of the worst people ever
17:08they're all bad people
17:10and then the one where she fights
17:12Wesker, like the main villain from the games
17:14and gets Chris Redfield
17:16with him
17:18they're so silly.
17:20Just trying to jam characters from the games in there
17:22so you point at the screen and go, oh look!
17:24I swear they actually took the model for the zombie dog
17:26from the games as well, because it looks identical
17:28Is this the two head of dogs?
17:30No, the one's
17:32split open
17:34and they actually
17:36they did Wesker really well
17:38That's surprising
17:40He does this whole black leather thing
17:42and darkened the room
17:44He flanks the glasses at the screen
17:46What?
17:483D glasses?
17:50This one has 3D effects
17:52They're fun films, I don't know, especially Apocalypse
17:55It's just the big hulking monster
17:57that can't be killed
17:59You lose me in some of my movies
18:01where there's so much going on
18:03I don't even know
18:05you don't even know where to jump in on those movies
18:07because I feel like you can watch them out of order
18:09and it wouldn't really matter
18:11but at the same time, you turn it on
18:13and you're like, what are you on? What's happening?
18:15You could watch the first one though
18:17You could almost say the first one isn't a Resident Evil film
18:19It's just taking the name
18:21It's just like Umbrella
18:23I don't get that length of the games at all
18:25Why the sequels leaned out so much more

19:31human race
