00:00We are going through what is called the Harijuna, the crisis of the great others, they say Guajiro,
00:17I died there, I died there, says Guajiro.
00:27My father was born in La Guajira and he always said with pride and at the same time with concern
00:34that his region was rich in minerals, with an impressive desert at the foot of the Caribbean Sea
00:43and with a sky full of stars that inspired the legends of the Guayo people.
00:53We are going through what is called the Harijuna, the crisis of the great others, they say Guajiro,
01:03I died there, I died there, says Guajiro.
01:12In the moment that pure water leaves the river, the river also dries up.
01:26I always see the river running, but around the 70s when the exploitation of coal began.
01:39All this ecosystem has been damaged, it has left us and that is why we are fighting for the survival of our rivers,
01:47of our ecosystems and for the survival of us as indigenous peoples.
01:55So what does the region do? It deceived us with a friend and then nothing.
02:00It's like the rain, it's raining today and the month before there was no water.
02:04That's what worries me.
02:11Today it does not punish the big machinery, it punishes us because misfortune comes to us.
02:19One thing is that one is extinguished and another thing is that the multinationals,
02:27from the hands of the ruling class, exterminate us.
