00:57In neighbouring Poland, towns were evacuated and emergency services were deployed to fight
01:03the flood.
01:04Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk appealed to those refusing to evacuate amid the storm
01:10and said the state would provide financial help to those affected by the extreme weather.
01:17In Austria, dozens of municipalities were declared disaster zones by authorities as
01:22residents were evacuated.
01:26A civil defence alert was issued and a firefighter died while responding to the flooding.
01:35Moroccan police have stopped hundreds of migrants from crossing into the Spanish enclave
01:40of Ceuta.
01:42That comes after dozens had managed earlier on Sunday to cross the first border fence
01:46between Morocco and the EU territory.
01:49Sunday has been a day of high tension after hundreds of people gathered at the border
01:53following reported calls on social media for a collective breach attempt.
01:58The Spanish news agency EFE said that the young migrants were mostly Moroccan nationals
02:03but that some came from elsewhere in Africa.
02:07The twin Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla are the only land borders between Africa and
02:12the European Union.
02:14Both have experienced occasional mass waves of migrants trying to cross the border to
02:18reach the EU.
02:21Morocco and Spain have worked to strengthen cooperation on addressing illegal migration.
02:26The Moroccan Interior Ministry said that in August authorities blocked more than 11,300
02:31attempts to cross into Ceuta and 3,300 to Melilla.
02:36But the most popular route from Morocco for irregular migrants hoping to reach Spain is
02:41by sea.
02:43More than 22,000 arrivals were registered by August in the nearby Canary Islands, a
02:48126% increase on last year's numbers.
03:00European countries should stop giving social security benefits to Ukrainian men of fighting
03:05age, according to Polish Foreign Minister Wroclaw Sikorski.
