00:00Hey hamsters, what a week, eh?
00:10The whole Durov and French authorities debacle, Don's falling, and Vitalik Buterin coming
00:15under fire for pretty much everything this week.
00:19Let's dive in!
00:21Durov.
00:22Pavel Durov, co-founder of Telegram, was arrested when he landed in France.
00:27The French authorities charged him for refusing to cooperate and provide users data for their
00:33ongoing cases.
00:34Durov was held from Sunday night till Wednesday night when he was released on 5 million euros
00:40bail and without the possibility to leave France for the time of the investigation.
00:46He's been released on a 5 million euro bail, but he has to stay in France.
00:51Ton.
00:52Ton, the native cryptocurrency of the Ton blockchain, fell sharply after the news, from
00:586.87 dollars to as low as 5 dollars during the week.
01:03The cryptocurrency is trading at 5.38 dollars at the time of this episode production.
01:12Buterin.
01:13This week was full of news around Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin for different reasons.
01:19First, he came under fire for not taking DeFi too seriously and not implement it enough
01:26throughout the Ethereum ecosystem, to which Buterin replied that he wants applications
01:32that are useful in a sustainable way and don't sacrifice on the principles, permissionless,
01:39decentralization, etc.
01:41Then the community demanded to address the spending at the Ethereum foundation and asked
01:47about his salary.
01:48Apparently, it's a little less than 140 thousand dollars a year.
01:53Interesting.
01:54And now, he's under fire for selling ETH.
01:59Some of the users seem to have a problem with Buterin selling some of his holdings.
02:04And while that tends to be nobody's business, the Ethereum co-founder defended himself.
02:10Once again this week, he said he hasn't sold or kept the proceeds since 2018 and that
02:16all the sales from ETH were to support projects or charity.
02:20That's all for today.
02:21Thanks for watching.
02:22Subscribe and remember, hamsters are power.
02:25One for all and all for one.
02:27See you tomorrow.
