00:00Marvel is an ever-evolving story book after book you never know what
00:08characters are gonna pop off the page. Wolverine appeared for the first time in
00:12Incredible Hulk. It really is a tradition to bring these characters that resonate
00:17with fans to the forefront and the same is true with Agatha. Agatha was a
00:21standout character in WandaVision. She was so beloved hers was a story that
00:26the fans demanded to see more of. Gangs all here let's hit the road. I knew from
00:34the source material where Agatha goes and she could go really anywhere which
00:39I'm very excited about. When Agatha gets out from under Wanda's spell she has zero
00:45powers and so the shortcut to getting her power back is to walk the witch's
00:49road. Join me. In the comics she's a mentor, she's a mother figure, she's a
00:55sister figure, she's a neighbor, she's all the things all at once which really
00:58speaks to Agatha's larger character of always being very slippery of persona.
01:03The witch's road was an idea and an element from the comics. In our story the
01:10witch's road is a gauntlet. If you make it to the end the road will give you the
01:16thing you want the most. There's a lot of possibilities in this
01:21witch's brew. It's so crazy.
01:32Welcome back everyone is Charlie Marvel just released a new trailer talking
01:36about Agatha Harkness and her connection to the fantastic four where she started
01:40in the comics. Katherine Hahn also talked about crossing over with the MCU
01:45fantastic four because of her connections with Franklin Richards. They
01:48also feature the midnight suns during that clip that's one of the avengers
01:52style team ups the working on for characters like Moon Knight ghostwriter
01:55Blake Blackknight people that will be like super huge characters on avengers
01:59teams themselves like they have separate supernatural team ups that they're
02:03making the funny thing to even though this is a meant to be a Deadpool and
02:06Wolverine related video. They also feature some footage from that movie
02:09with the John Byrne looking variant of Wolverine getting ready to fight Hulk
02:13talking about a Hulk versus Wolverine movie. They're actually working on
02:17pulling that off in a future MCU movie at some point. So will break it all down
02:22in big reminder Agatha episodes one and two will start this week. I'll be doing

02:34the beginning of them explaining how she can come back in the first place if her
02:38body was destroyed during Doctor strange multiverse of madness. That's why her
02:42son Billy is back on the show in teenage form with Joe Locke playing him, but
02:47probably the biggest thing here in addition to scarlet witch coming back
02:49like yes, we're all excited to see Elizabeth Olsen come back to the MCU is
02:53Agatha Harkness in the fantastic four just because there's so much fantastic
02:57four stuff happening next year. Even though most people now think of her in
03:01the MCU is a scarlet witch character because she debuted during one division
03:05in live action. She's actually really a fantastic four character. She debuted in
03:10issue 94 in 1970. She was actually introduced as quote unquote the
03:15governess and just became the caretaker of Franklin Richards right after he was
03:19born where the fantastic four would go on their adventures as they leave her
03:22back taking care of him part of the reason why she became his nanny like why
03:26she showed up is that she was the only person on the planet who instantly
03:30sensed how powerful he was Reed Richards to storm the others had no idea how
03:35powerful he was going to become. So she inserts herself in their family as his
03:39caretaker during her debut the frightful four was the villain of the month
03:44they're like the opposite of the fantastic four they lock them up then go
03:47after Franklin Richards in Agatha as a way to show how powerful she was
03:50basically just snaps her fingers and deals with them instantly with her magic
03:54then throughout the future fantastic four stories that she stuck around for
03:58she was always be the one to stay back with Franklin while the team went on to
04:01fight whoever was the villain of the month like Doctor Doom, Kang, Galactus and
04:05while the team was busy off fighting whoever the big villain was they would
04:09jump back to her occasionally and just show comedic adventures of her trying to
04:12deal with Franklin's tantrums with his extreme powers expressing just as a way
04:16to tease how powerful he would become someday. So Marvel's using this new
04:20trailer to connect Agatha Harkness to the other live-action characters like
04:25the new fantastic four movie mostly, but the midnight sons to is while they're
04:28working on a movie for that eventually scarlet witches return in the movies
04:32those are the only places that they'll use Agatha in the future part of the
04:36idea is they want to show you how versatile she's been in the comics and
04:39all the places they're thinking about crossing her over in the future movies
04:42I think the more interesting thing is the Catherine Han specifically was
04:45talking about crossing over with the fantastic four after their first movie
04:49because Matt Shackman who directed one division where they introduced her
04:53character for the first time in the MCU is also directing the fantastic four
04:57movies. Now the other funny thing about that they're working on a scarlet witch
05:00movie in the background to with Elizabeth Olsen the people that did one
05:04division that are doing Agatha right now are also working on that scarlet witch
05:07movie that just like a lot of scarlet witch one division energy from all
05:11those characters all over the MCU right now connecting to a bunch of different
05:14places even the fantastic four, but Catherine Han was talking about her
05:19characters longtime connection with Franklin Richards and how she wanted to
05:22do that in live-action now that were gonna be getting Franklin Richards in
05:26the new movie part of the reason why they couldn't cross her over with them
05:29before is because like literally they had not done them in the MCU yet there
05:33was a brief reference to there being an MCU fantastic four in Doctor strange
05:37multiverse of madness. For example, if this is kind of a weird thing. Maybe
05:40they'll explain this in the future Stephen fantastic for you guys chart in
05:45the 60s, but when the Illuminati get Doctor strange and he makes the joke
05:49about fantastic four to the John Krasinski Reed Richards didn't you guys
05:53chart back in the 60s was meant to be a fantastic four reference because there
05:57was like a real-life musical group in the 1960s, but it's also meant to be a
06:01sly fantastic four team reference because they debuted in the 1960s in the
06:06comics also the new Pedro Pascal version of the fantastic four come from the
06:101960s in their universe to, but the idea is that if Doctor strange and heard of
06:15the fantastic four in the MCU. It means theoretically there might have been a
06:18fantastic four at some point in the 1960s of the MCU just one of those loose
06:23threads that Marvel can choose to explore in the future if they want with
06:27this new fantastic four team, but the other big reason why you didn't see the
06:30making a ton of fantastic four references when Agatha first showed up
06:34in WandaVision was because this new fantastic four live-action movie is
06:38going to take place mostly in another universe like their team will come from
06:42a completely different universe. So theoretically she could not have crossed
06:45over with them yet and that movie is also going to feature the birth of
06:49Franklin Richards. So if she's really connected to Franklin Richards it
06:52didn't make that much sense to cross over with fantastic four until Franklin
06:56Richards had debuted as a character in live-action the reason why she's talking
07:00about crossing over with them in the future is because during their movie at
07:02some point they're supposed to come to the MCU traveling across universes. They
07:07haven't fully explain how that's going to go down because they're supposed to
07:10show up in Avengers five doomsday and Avengers six secret wars. So at some
07:14point between the end of their movie in the beginning of Avengers five they will
07:18make their way to the MCU. We've also been talking a lot about Robert Downey
07:22jr. coming back to the MCU is Doctor Doom, but supposedly he's gonna debut for
07:27the first time in live-action at the end of that new fantastic four movie in
07:30supposedly they're kind of imply that he's the main Doctor Doom of that
07:34universe. I've already been a much bigger trailer video for like the D23 in the
07:38comic-con fantastic four trailer. So I'll post a link for that at the end of this
07:41but during that there's all kinds of Easter eggs for Galactus Franklin
07:45Richards as well as Stan Lee and Jack Kirby references to stuff in real life
07:49for their original debut in the 1960s around the time the movie supposed to
07:53take place in the timeline of that universe is meant to feel like a very
07:56retrofuturism kind of movie kind of vibe yet to think of them eventually
08:01traveling to the present day of the MCU sort of like Captain America when he
08:04came out of the ice from the 1940s people from the past suddenly being
08:08shoved together with characters from present-day Captain America understood
08:12that reference. So my assumption is all those characters are coming to the MCU
08:17by Avengers five then Agatha probably won't be crossing over with the
08:22fantastic four or Franklin Richards until like Marvel phase seven. They'll
08:25probably save that to like after secret wars because there's so much stuff going
08:28on between Avengers five and Avengers six. So you can understand why Marvel
08:32which is kind of pumping the brakes on Agatha making a ton of fantastic four
08:35references Franklin Richards references until they fully introduce those
08:39characters in that first big movie. Marvel hasn't really said how quickly
08:43they're planning on aging Franklin Richards up after his first fantastic
08:47four movie like he's gonna be born during that movie but how quickly will
08:50he grow my assumption is they typically try to make things seem like they move
08:53in real time through the different Marvel movies by the end of secret wars
08:57he'll be a couple years old and he'll be able to speak normally with the other
09:00characters early theories because they probably want to use his reality warping
09:04power cell fix the multiverse at the end of secret wars like they did the more
09:08recent version the comic book secret wars my other early theory to because
09:12obviously that we're talking about Agatha here Scarlet witch coming back to
09:15the MCU is they always change the comics to fit the movie characters and at the
09:19end of the more recent secret wars. It was more of a fantastic four kind of
09:23story of fixing the universe Reed Richards using Franklin Richards power
09:27to create whole universes and just recreate each different universe of the
09:31multiverse, but in the MCU version of secret wars.
09:34They'll probably also rely on Scarlet witches reality warping chaos magic
09:39powers because the comic book version Scarlet witch wasn't really that big of
09:43a character in the movies treat Elizabeth Olsen Scarlet witch like she's
09:46a much more powerful much more central figure.
09:49So it feels like much more the plot would rely on some of her key abilities
09:52of reality warping and creating things Agatha didn't make a couple fantastic
09:57four references during Wanda vision like she joked about being a nanny that was
10:01meant to be a callback to her fantastic four origin story.
10:04They mostly use it for comedy of the like I bit a kid once she also jokes
10:08about eating babies in the newer Agatha trailers, but that's more of a joke on
10:11old myths about witches eating children you can wonder for a hot second if she
10:16could be telling the truth a little bit because she's been pretty evil in the
10:19history of the MCU.
10:20She's more of an antihero during the Agatha series just because she's
10:23meant to be the hero of that series, but she's more of an antihero they have
10:27made a bunch of changes for the live action version from the comic book
10:31version originally in the fantastic four comics.
10:33They explain she was over 10,000 years old in the MCU version.
10:37She was born in the late 1600s and live through the Salem witch trials until
10:41she eventually killed her mother's coven taking their powers.
10:44Then she used her ability to steal magical power from other beings to keep
10:48herself young over the hundreds of years to present-day the events of
10:51WandaVision and now Agatha.
10:53So is their way of saying that technically she is this wise old lady
10:58like the comic book version, but just in a younger hotter looking body that's
11:02also part of marvel's whole thing in the movies recently the last several years
11:05making the older female characters seem younger and hotter with each new reboot
11:10Aunt May in the Spider-Man movies is the best example of this phenomenon.
11:15You start with Tobey Maguire's Aunt May who is very much the classical example of
11:19a sweet old grandma lady like an aunt in Peter's case.
11:22Then you get to Andrew Garfield's Aunt May who's recast with a slightly younger,
11:26but still on the older side.
11:28Then you get to MCU Tom Holland's Aunt May in it's Marissa Tomei who even though
11:33she's hitting her 60s now like I think she's about 60 years old is affectionately
11:37nicknamed Aunt Bay because she's so young and good-looking they even had that
11:41whole comedy storyline in those movies with Happy Hogan trying to romance her.
11:46So RIP to Aunt Bay someday they'll reboot Spider-Man again in like 30 or 40 years
11:51and it'll be like a teenage version of Aunt May they just did the same thing in
11:55marvel comics with Agatha Harkness like comic book Agatha Harkness is also now
11:59super young looking like the live-action MCU version part of the reason why they
12:03introduced her during WandaVision and not just waited for like the fantastic
12:07four movie is because they wanted more witch based characters for Scarlet Witch
12:10to fight and because she's the reason why Scarlet Witch and Vision were able
12:13to have kids in the comics originally after she debuted in the fantastic four
12:17in the 70s a couple years after that she crossed over into the Avengers comics
12:21and became Scarlet Witch's tutor in magic many years after that they did the
12:26Scarlet Witch and Vision comics where they dealt with like their life being
12:29married together they fought the Salem seven who were connected to Nicolas
12:33Scratch Agatha's son Agatha was seemingly killed but her astral energy
12:37survived Scarlet Witch channeled that energy into herself using it to become
12:41pregnant with her and visions children WandaVision was basically the story of
12:46how she created her children but on the show Agatha didn't have anything to do
12:50with that she just created them whole cloth with her chaos magic during the
12:54Agatha episodes they'll explain how Billy is back in a teenage body that
12:58looks totally different from the young version of Billy if he was also
13:01destroyed when she brought the hex down and the going to explain how Scarlet
13:05Witch is going to come back to the MCU during that series will be a lot of
13:09Easter eggs and references to all this episode episodes all point those out
