00:00Now, if you owned or the owners of Gambit were in play, that's probably not a good,
00:10that was not a good investment.
00:12Because Gambit, as we know, is now out of Washington, DC.
00:15That's primarily where they were.
00:18And they had their form of, I guess, sports betting operation through these kiosks is
00:24my understanding.
00:25And again, I'm reading about this over Legal Sports Report.
00:28But they've been out.
00:29They've been doing this for a while.
00:30But what we didn't know is who was going to be taking over these kiosks.
00:33And my understanding is there has to be more than 50 in place by the beginning of October.
00:39So without ruining the story completely, which sports betting company is taking over for
00:43Gambit?
00:45And what did I miss as part of the story?
00:47Well, it is an interesting story.
00:49It's Caesars that's going to take over.
00:51And basically, at some point between today and October, they're supposed to get those
00:57kiosks in.
00:58And by that October date, it's interesting, Craig, because Gambit was a partnership between
01:04the DC Lottery and Intralot.
01:06And Intralot came into the U.S. thinking, well, we can get recreational bettors.
01:11And so we're going to juice those lines a little bit more.
01:14And the DC Lottery unfortunately said, OK, cool, we're with that.
01:18And it didn't work, right?
01:19We had in the middle of the pandemic, Craig, you had people lining up around the block
01:25to go to the William Hill kiosk at Capital One Arena instead of betting online with Gambit.
01:31That's how bad the odds were.
01:33And so it's a bit poetic justice that Caesars is taking over because Caesars is the one
01:37that bought William Hill.
01:39So Caesars will now be in charge of all of those kiosks.
01:43Look, those kiosks have been the source of a few interesting stories from DC.
01:51We had one guy at a sushi shop take them for almost a million dollars.
01:58They had to cut out some sports they were offering because of that.
02:03The kiosks have been interesting, but Caesars is going to take over control of them now.
02:07We had a little bit more news from DC last week as Fanatics is now live in the DC market
02:12as well.
02:13So it's a huge shift for DC going from only Gambit being available throughout DC on your
02:20phone except for those federal areas, to now you have Caesars, DraftKings, Bandle, BetMGM.
02:27And the numbers show it.
02:28The numbers, they've been doing very well so far compared to what it just was with Gambit.
02:34So DC sports betting, we're going to keep talking about it, Craig, because more people
02:39are looking at it saying, you know, oh, maybe I can get in there.
02:42And the OLG tried for so long, the Office of Lottery and Gaming in DC, they tried for
02:48so long to say, look, COVID just ruined sports betting in DC.
02:52People work from home.
02:53We don't get the same kind of traffic.
02:54And we're seeing that, no, it was just a bad sports betting product.
