00:50Former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog reveals, besides security concerns, he sought asylum
00:54in the United States to prevent the Duterte administration from falsely linking former
00:59Senators Ma Rojas and Franklin Drilon to illegal drugs.
01:03He flew overseas in 2017 after he was included in former President Rodrigo Duterte's narco list.
01:09Mabilog says when he was in Japan, then-Philippine National Police Chief Bato De La Rosa called
01:14him and told him to come home.
01:16But shortly after the call, another unnamed PNP general called and warned him that if
01:20he comes home, he will be forced to point fingers at an opposition senator and a former
01:25presidential candidate as drug lords.
01:27In the House hearing, Mabilog was asked if the two personalities he was referring to
01:31were Drilon and Rojas.
01:33He said yes.
01:34Mabilog's name was not part of the original drug list but was only included later on.
01:41The National Bureau of Investigation says dismissed Mamban Mayor Alice Guo's signature
01:45does not match the signature on her counter-affidavit signed by lawyer Elmer Galicia.
01:50NBI confirms to Rappler that the result of its daxilloscopy examination shows a signature
01:55mismatch.
01:56Guo's notarized affidavit is essential in piecing together information on how she escaped.
02:02Authorities say Guo left the country as early as July, but she was still able to file an
02:06affidavit with the Justice Department in August.
02:09The law requires the notary public to personally see the client at the time of notarization.
02:14Galicia earlier claimed he personally saw Guo when he notarized the document.

02:34former Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, filed by retired police colonel Roina Garma in 2018.
02:41Garma was the director of the Cebu City Police Office at the time.
02:45She filed a case for grave misconduct against Osmeña, alleging the former mayor intervened
02:49in the arrest of three men.
02:51The Ombudsman ruled on February 29, Osmeña was guilty of grave misconduct.
02:57But since he was no longer a government official, Osmeña was then ordered to pay a fine amounting
03:01to his basic salary for one year when he was the mayor.
03:05But in the reversal of the ruling dated July 10, 2024, the Ombudsman says Garma failed
03:10to prove that Osmeña facilitated the escape of the three men.
03:14Osmeña blamed Garma for the riots and killings in the city when he was mayor.
03:19Davao-based journalists decried the disinformation and maltreatment at the hands of followers
03:24of Apolo Kibuloy when police were searching for the preacher at the sprawling Kingdom
03:28of Jesus Christ compound in Davao City.
03:31The harassment happened during the 16-day standoff at the KOJC compound, which began
03:35on August 24 and lasted until September 8.

03:51"...it is not our role to carry your propaganda line or push your agenda."
03:54They add,
03:55"...our bias is for the truth."
03:57The journalists also criticized Counselor Bones Militar, chair of the Davao City Council's
04:02Committee on Information and Technology, for his behavior during the standoff.
04:06"...you are barking up the wrong tree.
04:08Let us in the media do our jobs."

04:16Catherine Camilon.
04:18The dismissed cop Alan De Castro and his bodyguard driver Jeffrey Magpantay are arrested in separate
04:23manhunt operations in Barangay Caloocan, Balayan, Batangas on September 14.
04:28The two are facing charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention, which were initially
04:33dismissed last April 16.
04:35Camilon's family filed a motion for reconsideration last May 23, which was granted on August 15.
