For her 22nd birthday she moved to Hollywood and in 1936 she took part in the film Too Many Parents. On October 19, 1942 the actress was stopped by the police in Santa Monica for driving with her headlights on, which was prohibited by wartime regulations for blackout. In her later years she was arrested twice for drunk driving and started small businesses, which always failed, also due to the theft of funds suffered by third parties. Shortly before dying of cancer at the age of 56, she wrote the autobiography Will There Really Be a Morning?, in which she recounted her personal descent into the hell of the living. A journey of suffering, described in different ways by biographers and journalists, but which nevertheless has no equal in the history of cinema.
