00:00The Secret Service is looking into billionaire CEO Elon Musk's post about President Biden
00:05and Vice President Harris being targeted for assassination.
00:08That's according to Bloomberg News, which says the Secret Service responded to a Freedom
00:11of Information Act request for records about the post by saying that disclosure could reasonably
00:16be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings.
00:19On Sunday, after the latest assassination attempt against former President Trump, Musk
00:23quoted another user's post on X which had said,
00:26why they want to kill Donald Trump.
00:28Musk added, and no one is even trying to assassinate Biden-slash-Kamala, with a thinking face emoji.
00:34He later deleted that post and stated,
00:36Turns out that jokes are way less funny if people don't know the context and the delivery
00:40is plain text.
00:42In point of fact, there have been threats against Vice President Harris.
00:45Business Insider says the FBI arrested a man just last month for threatening Harris and
00:49others on the platform Getter.
00:51Bloomberg says the harshest consequence Musk would likely see for his post would simply
00:55be a visit from Secret Service agents.
00:57Conflict between Musk and federal law enforcement would be somewhat awkward since, according
01:01to the Wall Street Journal, Musk's company SpaceX has at least $1.8 billion in government
01:06contracts.
