00:00One of the most popular adventures these days is the live-aboard vacation.
00:04In other words, instead of staying in a hotel, you'll be staying in a big boat.
00:08That's the travel goal of the tourists we'll meet.
00:11But what they expect is a good vacation,
00:14turned out to be a bad one.
00:16Why? Watch in the story of Amazing No. 3.
00:23The adventure seeker Emma Tiet travels to Central America.
00:28They're not looking for a life-long adventure,
00:30but a notorious Colombian border in Panama.
00:34This is the Durian Gap.
00:37This land is controlled by kidnapping gangs that are victims of tourists.
00:43For safety, Emma and Piet accompanied other tourists
00:46for a 4-day vacation in the middle of the sea.
00:49It's very peaceful every morning.
00:51It's relaxing to look at the sea.
00:54It's like nothing bad is going to happen.
00:56But on the second night, a tragedy struck them.
01:02They were struck by a loud noise.
01:04They heard the captain shouting.
01:06He told them to put on life jackets.
01:10We're lying in bed. It's about 3 in the morning.
01:13And we think we'll get a massive wave.
01:16The boat was wrecked and flooded.
01:21They took their things so they wouldn't get wet.
01:24They had to get out.
01:26While the boat was sinking without a lifeboat,
01:28the captain told them to go home.
01:31But...
01:38Somehow, the coral reef helped
01:41because it would stop the water from entering the boat.
01:44But as soon as the waves pushed the boat away from the reef,
01:48the water would continue to enter and sink them.
01:51It was morning already.
01:53They looked at Panama mainland,
01:55but they were still stuck in the coral reef.
01:58The waves were getting bigger.
02:00The water was rising.
02:01What to do?
02:0210 hours had passed.
02:04No one was calling for help.
02:07They were all hopeless,
02:09but they were still alert in case someone came.
02:13After the flares went out at night,
02:15and the GPS was used,
02:17and it was May Day on the radio,
02:19they were still hoping.
02:24When they saw a boat,
02:26they had all the hope.
02:28Finally, they didn't drown in the sea.
02:31There was still a chance for the discouraged tourists.
02:35But the fishermen couldn't get near them.
02:38Because the waves were still so big,
02:40and the winds were high,
02:41and everything was still really quite dangerous.
02:45Eventually, we saw another boat coming,
02:47and this time, it was actually a military boat.
02:50It was bigger than the first one.
02:53But then, they couldn't transfer the boat to the reef
02:57because it was too shallow.
02:59So they stopped at the end of the reef,
03:01and basically, the passengers went back to the boat.
03:06Because it was so dangerous,
03:07the people who knew how to swim helped
03:09and other people with them
03:11to cross the big wave.
03:15The 14 passengers and 4 crews
03:18went to the military boat together.
03:20Because of this experience,
03:22they had a different kind of respect for nature.
03:25Beautiful and beautiful,
03:27nature is so beautiful, it's so exciting,
03:30and we just want to keep adventuring.
