00:30Welcome back team avatar Netflix just dropped a season 2 trailer featuring Toph she was
00:46their big announcement this week they cast an actress started filming episodes.
00:50So will break it all down.
00:51We have a pretty good idea what's going on if you're brand-new to the channel be sure
00:55to subscribe to get all the videos I will be doing episode videos like I did for season
00:59one in the trailer they play classic avatar the last airbender animated theme music from
01:03the episodes.
01:04This is the same track that would play at the end of each episode and during episodes
01:08different times is not specifically meant to be Toph's theme music notice you see her
01:13in her classic earth kingdom outfit earthbending and they only show her feet because of course
01:19they do that for Toph like that's the way you introduce that character next to her being
01:22blind and that is the way the animated series introduced her like Aang saw a vision of her
01:26in the swamp, but it was like her entire body so you saw her face next to the fact
01:31that she's blind and then focusing on that her feet are probably the most important part
01:35of her body.
01:36The so integral to the way that she bends.
01:38This is probably the only time Netflix doesn't mind everybody getting super weird asking
01:42them for more feet pics like were not degenerate we just want to see more Toph feet pics please
01:46send us all the feet pics the actress playing her is Mia check you might remember her from
01:51arrow she played the young version of Emiko Oliver's half-sister from his father.
01:56She's done some other Netflix stuff that you might recognize her from that's probably
01:59her path to this.
02:00A lot of the actors on the show are people that have done Netflix stuff before she's
02:04not blind in real life, but if Charlie Cox can portray such a great version of daredevil
02:09very important blind character in the Marvel universe than she can probably do a decent
02:14job of portraying Toph's blindness during avatar the last airbender Charlie Cox is probably
02:18the most famous example of something like that like he is not blind in real life, but
02:22she does an amazing job of portraying daredevils blindness also consequently started as a Netflix
02:28series will get some more shots of her bending in the next big trailer.
02:32They don't list an actual release date like not 2025 or 2026 probably because Netflix
02:37is not sure like we don't know if it'll make it out by the end of 2025.
02:41So just prepare yourself for it not to come out like the beginning of 2026 I do not be
02:46disappointed because is like a 99% chance that's going to happen.
02:50Remember they did all of book one during season one in a big speed run the pride you
02:54the same thing speed running all of book two during season two and they've already confirmed
02:58that they've renewed the show for season three.
03:00So the doing all of book three and because they have all the main characters that like
03:04Toph was like the last infinity stone to assemble the infinity gauntlet that is team avatar
03:09now that you have all those characters in all their important villains for book three
03:13they can actually start filming book three way faster.
03:16So hopefully the wait time between season two and season three will be way shorter.
03:20It's also the long-running joke that the child actors stranger things style like you
03:23talk about stranger things here age so quickly that if you wait too long you get like teenage
03:29Aang by the end of the series when he's supposed to be like 11 years old.
03:32The original animated series took place over the course of about a single year like a little
03:37bit less than a year Aang was biologically 12 years old when he came out of the ice in
03:41episode one that he was about to turn 13 during the finale like his actual birthday was about
03:46four months at the end of book three.
03:48So literally less than a year goes by during the live-action series the showrunner said
03:53they change the plot with Sozin's comet significantly because of this time issue that they ran into
03:58because they knew it would take them a few years to get the whole series out they could
04:01use the arrival of Sozin's comet is a ticking clock the same with the original series and
04:06mentioning it all the time.
04:08So that's why in the live-action episodes you barely hear them talking about the comet
04:11like just in episode one that prologue for fire Lord Sozin's attack on the airbenders
04:15then in the post credit scene with fire Lord Ozai and the great sage discussing the comet
04:20coming back when soon we shall see the return of Sozin's comet in notice during those scenes
04:34they don't specifically list the date on when the comet is coming back only a vague reference
04:39that it is coming soon at some point.
04:42So the showrunner implied that they be writing some time jumps between season one season
04:46two and season two and season three to explain why the child actors, especially Gordon Cormier
04:50who plays Aang looks so much bigger like wow what even eating Aang like you just grew so
04:56much overall season one was head and shoulders better than the end night Shyamalan avatar
05:01the last airbender movie.
05:02I feel like this was the only assignment that it had like there was no way that was going
05:06to be as good as the original animated series that's perfect essentially you cannot beat
05:11something that is already perfect, but beating that original live-action avatar movie was
05:16a pretty low bar to clear.
05:17So wasn't that hard for them to do that they had a lot of swings and misses.
05:21I do have complaints about some of the bigger aspects the Netflix series, but there were
05:25a couple things they did really well on the whole like the bending itself is probably
05:29the biggest win that they had the bending all looks great.
05:33One of the other big improvements that they need to make is fix the chemistry between
05:37Aang and Katara they're supposed to end the series is one of the great love affairs in
05:42the avatar universe and season one Katara and season one Aang have zero chemistry together
05:48the closest thing to any kind of relationship development during season one in the avatar
05:52universe here was between Sookie and Sokka that also probably one of the bigger changes
05:57for season to expect them to bring the Sookie actress back and make her a bigger part in
06:01the plot than she was in the original book to Nasuki does become part of the plot later
06:05on in the original animated series.
06:07She does come back eventually, but just expected to be more prominent in the live-action version.
06:12But really were talking about Toph here like Toph is the biggest new character the introducing
06:16because she's a core member of team Aang like one of the greatest earthbenders in the history
06:20of the avatar universe.
06:22So just like season one expect them to condense a lot of the plot points skip a lot of the
06:26side quests.
06:27So either the make a beeline for bossing say or they'll meet Toph or Aang will have a vision
06:31of her at some point during episode one, but we will see her at some point during episode
06:36one and they will make their way to bossing say pretty quickly.
06:39So I think the probably do a pretty close adaptation of the way they met Toph in the
06:43original book two series at a bending competition with her beating the crap out of boulder.
06:48I would love I would love if he were played by the rock the fandom has been asking for
06:52the rock to play boulder for so long, but there's no way Netflix is going to pay the
06:57money it would take to get the rock to do that will probably get that first Toph versus
07:01Aang fight scene she'll join them and over the course of the season she'll teach Aang
07:05how to earthbend and she'll invent metal bending Toph is canonically supposed to be the first
07:10metal bender in the history the avatar universe and for those you asking like one of the big
07:15complaints of season one is that Aang never actually learns to waterbend like what's happening
07:19here was he supposed to learn how to waterbend is that the whole point of this what they'll
07:23probably do is they'll have Katara teach him how to waterbend at the beginning of season
07:27two like first couple of episodes he'll learn how to waterbend as for Zuko Iroh and Azula
07:33their book two plot is actually pretty easy to adapt like it's way less expensive than
07:38what's happening with team Aang for the most part Firelord Ozai sets Azula to the task
07:42of capturing Zuko and Iroh branding them as traitors trying to bring them back to the
07:46fire nation and they take off to hide in Ba Sing Se pretending to be normal citizens of
07:51the earth kingdom opening Iroh's tea shop which is a lifelong dream of his like he has
07:55so much fun during that part of the plot just chilling out and making good tea every
08:00day like that's all he cares about and Zuko begins the next phase of his redemption arc
08:06or really he begins his redemption he was mostly an antagonist to Aang during season
08:11one and he almost falters during book two as well to earn the original version like
08:15Zuko betrays uncle Iroh in a pretty big way, but essentially during book two he starts
08:20to turn the corner on his redemption is not really till book three that he actually joins
08:25team avatar and becomes a fundamentally good character they'll probably end season two
08:30the same way they ended the original book two with Azula lightning bending Aang almost
08:34killing him basically putting him into a coma that is a pretty easy way to explain a time
08:38jump before season three because Gordon Cormier like the actor will actually just be physically
08:43so much bigger you look so much older because you been in a coma for a long time hoping
08:47that they do adapt a version of the beach in some way in one of the episodes it be weird
08:52for them to do cabbage man cave of two lovers and then not do the beach and really hoping
08:56here like fingers crossed they bring back the original voice cast to be the ember island
09:01players they do reunions all the time of conventions like you can actually go get signatures with
09:06them hear them talk about doing the original series all the time like literally several
09:10times a year Dante Bosco is even doing a rewatch podcast for the original avatar series with
09:16Janet Varney who was the voice for Korra what I'm really hoping to is that he comes back
09:20is the voice of Zuko in these movies that Mike and Brian are doing we probably won't
09:25see any footage from those to like either the very end of this year or like early next
09:29year at some point.
09:31So I'm not expecting any big trailers for the animated avatar stuff for a while, but
09:35everyone post all your thoughts on avatar the last airbender Netflix season two.
09:39If you had any complaints about season one stuff you hope they fix or stuff you hope
09:43that they adapt from the original book two.
09:45If you did not like the way they paste out season one or the way they change some of
09:49the story.
09:50The actual showrunner from season one left the show to work on some other Netflix project
09:54so other people be in charge of season two and season three.
09:58Some of the biggest changes they made were just to bring people into the same area much
10:02faster and for much longer than they were in the actual animated series like we only
10:06have money for like a couple really big sets for a couple cities years we need everybody
10:10to meet in this particular big set and stay here for a lot longer one of the lowest lows
10:16from season one was also King Bumi.
10:18So I hope they don't get quite as nuts as King Bumi was during season one probably the
10:22best example that that the deal with during book two will actually be when they meet the
10:27earth King like a lot of that storyline just gets really silly.
10:30So we'll see how they deal with that.
10:32I don't know they're actually gonna do Bosco the bear.
10:35Maybe they'll try to do the bear is actually very dark ending for that character like people
10:38wonder what happened to the earth Kings bear did it survive supposedly it wound up getting
10:43eaten in one of the other real big changes that everybody should expect during season
10:47two is they do the same thing they did during season one bringing everyone together in the
10:52earth kingdom much much faster over on the animated new avatar stuff Mike and Brian are
10:57working on will probably see some teasers or some concept art for the movie that the
11:01working on with adult team Aang in the next year to depending on how their plans change
11:06for the future of the avatar universe in animation the working on that new TV series with the
11:12earthender avatar after Korra forward in the timeline.
11:15So that will come out till after the movie I'm not expecting to see anything from that
11:18till after we actually get the movie trailers and see the movie is a bunch of big stuff
11:23coming up there were ton of trailers this week in a bunch of other big news.
