Volunteer Joy Woosey invites members of the community to volunteer at Greenslate Community Farm, Billinge. So much of what the community farm has achieved is down to the hard work and dedication of volunteers, who turn up week after week for many different reasons; because they love animals, they want to learn how to grow organic vegetables, learn about woodland or wildlife. Some volunteers just want the company, to make new friends or enjoy the tranquility of the place.

00:00Hi, my name's Joy. Welcome to Greenslake Farm. I found this place after I retired and boy do you need to find a place when you've retired.
00:11After working 38 years with a lot of people, with a lot of customers, you need company, you need tasks to do, you need something in your retirement.
00:20But this is not just about retirement, this is the community, this is a community farm.
00:25And I always say that this is your farm, so come on and have a little look, see what this place is about.
00:33And we will also bring you in and gather you in and it's just a lovely feeling to belong to Greenslake Farm.
00:42We rescue animals and they love company so come along and have a chat with them.
00:47We have a nice nine beehives, we produce honey sold out like that.
00:52And it's gorgeous because Celia grows wildflowers and the bees have a great time in our wildflowers and that's why the taste of our honey is just gorgeous.
01:02We have a care farm here which is adults with learning needs.
01:06They help around the farm because this is not Disneyland, this is nature land.
01:11And it's just hands on, you might be able to do a bit of weeding, you might be able to do a bit of deck painting.
01:17Just lots of DIY jobs to keep this farm up and running, but please come and join us.
