00:00And something I loved about when you first hit the scene,
00:03you know, with your first album and watching you as an artist
00:07was that you, I feel like you were the only MC that I saw
00:09at that time who had the look that you did.
00:11Like you kept your hair like about this long.
00:14You had the, you had the paw print like tattoos
00:17and everybody was like, I'm gonna do something
00:18like that too.
00:20You know, you know, you had a very just different,
00:23very bold appearance.
00:24And how did your, so I wanted to ask you,
00:26how did your label initially react to this look
00:28and what motivated you to introduce yourself to the world
00:32in this bold way at a time when everybody's got like
00:35the long hair, very, very over-sexualized,
00:38but not necessarily in a bad way,
00:39but just that was the style.
00:41Yeah, I really was, I just wanted to be me.
00:47Like I just, I wanted to just be me.
00:52And thankfully with the Rough Riders,
00:53they never tried to make me be anything other than who I was.
00:57They really celebrated and helped, you know,
01:01nurture the artists that I wanted to be.
01:04They never had opinions about what I wore
01:07or how I did my hair or anything.
01:09So I think I was very lucky with them because like you said,
01:15you know, at that time, that wasn't the norm.
01:17So for them not to kind of make me, so to speak,
01:20or, you know, or try to influence me in some way
01:23to try to be something else,
01:24I think I was really lucky with that.
01:25But I think with them as well,
01:27they kind of saw like, okay,
01:30I guess I was so strong in who I was, my filliness,
01:33I don't know, or like, this is the artist I want to be,
01:37this is the MC I want to be.
01:38They kind of, yeah, they kind of just let me do me.
