00:00I'm Astrid Rondero.
00:06I'm Fernanda Valadez.
00:08And we are writers, directors, and producers of a film from Mexico that is called Suho,
00:13which will have its world premiere at Sundance 2024 in the World Dramatic Competition.
00:19Suho is a coming-of-age, is the story of an orphan, the son of a sicario, who wonders
00:25throughout his life if he has inherited violence from his father.
00:33We asked ourselves if there was more to a person than his or her past.
00:38That's Suho's main question, who is the son of a perpetrator?
00:43Is there more to me than my past?
00:49As the humanitarian crisis deepens in Mexico due to the drug cartel violence, we wonder
00:54who defines who is a good orphan and who is a bad orphan, who deserves to have a bright
00:59future, and who doesn't.
01:12So Suho is an exploration on that.
01:14It's a portrait of this young man's life, of all his dreams and hopes and fears, of
01:20what he wants to be, but also it's like a story of him coming to terms with who he is.
01:32One of the great experiences of making this film was working with young people, with young
01:37actors.
01:41It was a real inspiration, living with them, some of their dreams, their hopes, their expectations,
01:51and we truly think they're at the heart of this film.
02:00So if you get the chance to catch our film, please join us.
02:04We're extremely happy to show Suho, this film that we love so much, at Sundance 2024.
