00:03On Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center issued a forecast for what they're currently
00:07calling Potential Tropical Cyclone 9.
00:10The NHC said the system is expected to intensify into a major hurricane before it approaches
00:15the northeastern Gulf Coast on Thursday, and the potential for life-threatening storm surge
00:19and damaging hurricane-force winds along the coast of the Florida Panhandle and the Florida
00:24West Gulf Coast is increasing.
00:26According to CBS News, if a hurricane does develop, it'll be known as Hurricane Helene.
00:31Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Monday that he was declaring a state of emergency
00:35in 41 counties within the state.
00:37Outside of Florida, the NHC said that isolated flash and urban flooding is possible across
00:42the southeast Southern Appalachians and the Tennessee Valley Wednesday through Friday.
00:47The NHC also said the storm could experience rapid intensification, a phenomenon which
00:51is made more likely by climate change, according to USA Today.
