U.S. President Joe Biden urged a diplomatic solution as Israel strikes Hezbollah targets, warning against a "full-scale war" in Lebanon.
"Full-scale war is not in anyone's interest. Even though the situation has escalated, a diplomatic solution is still possible," Biden said in an address to the UN General Assembly.
Hezbollah began its rocket attacks a day after the deadly October 7 Hamas assault, saying it aimed to tie down Israeli forces to support Palestinian fighters in Gaza.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported 558 casualties from the Israeli strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon so far, including 50 children and 94 women.
