00:00:00Yes, the All Blacks, All Black Genesis One Piece was my signature bat when I first came
00:00:09back.
00:00:10That was just flat amazing.
00:00:12Up until present, the bats have just been top notch.
00:00:15They've been just at the top of the game.
00:00:17We brought back that One Piece Genesis and it was like a light switch went off, night
00:00:21and day.
00:00:22It just, it was such an amazing bat.
00:00:24Everybody jumped back on to Louisville Slugger knowing that the product they were getting
00:00:27were just going to be amazing.
00:00:29That was the start of what we have now, which is just unreal bats.
00:00:57All right, welcome to HIT & SIT show number 42, Tuesday, September 24th.
00:01:27Thanks for joining me.
00:01:28I'm DW, by the way, conferenceutriplesa.com.
00:01:31Go there every day.
00:01:33Watch the videos.
00:01:34I'm joined by Steve Hildebrand, manager of Sonny's Major Team, Danny Haker, manager of
00:01:42Straight Play, the 2022 A World Champs.
00:01:48I put that wrong in the agenda.
00:01:49Did you see that?
00:01:50And they're fourth in the points, not third.
00:01:52They're fourth in the points this year.
00:01:54And then we're, of course, we're joined by Joelle Sanchez, shortstop of Sports Reach,
00:01:59Swings DeMarini.
00:02:01And I just found out he won the USSSA co-ed and men's top division of the Military Worlds.
00:02:11Excellent job.
00:02:13All right, so I'm going to, before we get into the questions with the panel, I'm going
00:02:18to do a quick rundown of what we've done since the Smokey.
00:02:22If Bernie can share my screen, of course, the hit and sit show, talk show.
00:02:28I like to call it a talk show, not a podcast.
00:02:33So we've had eight different winners this year out of 26 conference men's teams.
00:02:39And we're going to run down what we've done since the Smokey.
00:02:41Since the Smokey, we've seen Rufax win both duels at the Evansville Major.
00:02:50We saw Cheapsuits knock off Bay Area Legends at the Utah Major.
00:02:56We saw, this is not Utah, but we saw Rosmano cross over to the 16-inch Worlds in Chicago
00:03:03and win the 2016 major division of the 16-inch Softball Worlds.
00:03:11Check out those videos on SW48 YouTube channel.
00:03:16Then the next week of, in September there, after, was it Labor Day, week after Labor
00:03:22Day weekend, the USA Softball, we saw Rufax take their entire team over to the Super and
00:03:29win it.
00:03:30They beat Monsta in the finals.
00:03:31A depleted Rosmano team was third.
00:03:35And then the next day we saw Monsta win the AA division of the USA Softball.
00:03:42And then we did have a tournament and conference in September, believe it or not, it was a
00:03:47rain shortened event where Rosmano wrapped up not only the conference championship tournament
00:03:54beating straight play in the finals, but they also wrapped up number one seed for the major.
00:04:02And La Familia won the conference championship tournament on the women's side and also wrapped
00:04:08up the points championship over Derby Girls.
00:04:14These were the final computer rankings.
00:04:16Rufax actually comes out on top of Rosmano.
00:04:19Both teams won five tournaments.
00:04:21All five of Rosmano's tournaments won were on baseball fields.
00:04:26You can see Rufax was 17-4 against the major division.
00:04:31That's what captured them the computer rankings title.
00:04:35The 20s was third, straight play fourth, and Joelle, your sports reach team was seventh,
00:04:42which is very good for a double A team.
00:04:46Computer rankings by class, you know, you pretty much see LSR with that huge early season
00:04:54upsets that they did actually came out on top of the computer rankings in the A division.
00:05:00And of course, Ely Real in the B division was the only B team with a positive computer
00:05:06ranking, which is very impressive for a B team.
00:05:10Did I skip one there?
00:05:12No.
00:05:13Okay.
00:05:14The point standings, of course, the top 18 make the major world series.
00:05:18Number 17, Van Wert Frickers did not have enough players to compete at the major.
00:05:23So they denied, or they did not accept the berth.
00:05:30Berth dropped down to NFM Lending, an A team out of Arizona is going to take the 18 seed.
00:05:37On the women's side, Monsta La Familia wins the points over Derby Girls, team 24 third.
00:05:47And then I just wanted to remind everyone, the free agents pages open on conferenceusaasa.com,
00:05:532025 free agent pages.
00:05:56You can see some people have already filled out the form to be free agents in the offseason.
00:06:03You can check that out daily to see who the new free agents are.
00:06:08And then we have the bracket for the major world series.
00:06:11As you can see, Rosmano gets the number one seed.
00:06:15They start Wednesday night at eight, Rufax the number two, Nitro Circus, who played a
00:06:22lot of tournaments, ends up with a three seed straight play, an impressive fourth.
00:06:28Sonny's fifth and the other major team, Juno, it winds up seventh.
00:06:35So an interesting bracket, but we do have two major teams on each side of the bracket,
00:06:41which I think is good.
00:06:42And then you see the Thursday schedule, starting at 1130 a.m. Thursday, you got the final eight
00:06:48of the winner's bracket playing all the way down to the final two, which is Friday night.
00:06:55And that's about it for the end of season wrap up.
00:06:59We'll get to the questions now with our panelists.
00:07:01I appreciate you guys coming in.
00:07:04Steve, we're going to go to you first, Steve Hildebrand, manager of Sonny's.
00:07:11How is Sonny's looking?
00:07:12Do you guys have any injuries?
00:07:15The key question here, is Bill Pinkham going to be healthy?
00:07:19And what do you think it will take to beat Riz Mano at the major?
00:07:23Have you guys beaten them this year?
00:07:25Yeah, we have beaten them, but they beat us more than we've beat them.
00:07:33But as far as Pinkham goes, he's been dealing with that double hernia all year.
00:07:36So it's not going to change, you know, until Sonny's taking risks.
00:07:40So he's been dealing with it.
00:07:42Yeah, double hernia.
00:07:43Jeez.
00:07:45He's been dealing with that the whole time.
00:07:47But, you know, once the season's over with, he'll get it fixed.
00:07:49But, you know, Pinkham, he's a warrior.
00:07:51You know, he's on a tough thrill with everything.
00:07:53And he actually played his past weekend in that 40 and hit the crap out of it
00:07:58and gloved everything up in Las Vegas.
00:08:01So he said he feels like a spring chicken except for when he runs.
00:08:04But, you know, Yates has been banged up all year.
00:08:09He's had a little tweaked hamstring.
00:08:11But he'll be running the outfield the whole major.
00:08:15He said he's 100% now.
00:08:18Yeah, Yates played with Rosmano at the Super, and he was running center field.
00:08:23I thought he looked healthy.
00:08:26Yeah, well, I don't think for a minute I didn't get on his high end for that mess.
00:08:31You know?
00:08:33Yeah, there's always that tension when guys go to play the Super, right,
00:08:38that aren't healthy 100%.
00:08:41Yeah, but he assured me he was fine.
00:08:44And he come back, you know, fine.
00:08:47So it is what it is, you know.
00:08:49I still remember the year, you know, a couple years ago when we got bumped to
00:08:52double-A, and everybody went to go play in that A and double-A.
00:08:57And everybody on my team got hurt, and the team that beat us for the double-A
00:09:00won it because all my players were hurt playing with them.
00:09:04Yeah, go ahead, Joel.
00:09:06Yeah, that's right.
00:09:07It's hard to keep players from playing, right, on the off weekends.
00:09:11Maybe you just got to join them.
00:09:13Yeah.
00:09:14I never keep none of my players from playing, you know.
00:09:16Don't keep them, yeah.
00:09:17There's no team orders, you're saying.
00:09:21Right.
00:09:23All right, what is it going to take to beat Rosmano at the Major?
00:09:26You're the only team that beat them last year.
00:09:29Yeah, well, you're going to have to score, you know, seven runs in the inning.
00:09:35I promise you that.
00:09:36And you're going to have to make every play to be made.
00:09:41You can't miss the play, and it's going to cost you five to seven with them
00:09:45every time.
00:09:46So, to me, you just got to play lights-out defense and keep the pressure on them.
00:09:51You know, if you keep the pressure on, you know, anybody can beat anybody.
00:09:55But if you let them just set up their free will, and you don't get no pressure
00:09:58on them, they're going to beat you to death.
00:10:01Yeah, I feel like it's going to take two teams to beat them.
00:10:06Like, one team is not going to beat them twice.
00:10:09Like, I think you're going to need someone to beat them, or you guys beat them,
00:10:13and then someone else beats them.
00:10:15It's probably one of those years.
00:10:17But we're going to move on to Danny Haker.
00:10:20We don't know much about you, Danny.
00:10:22What is your background in slow pitch?
00:10:26What is Straight Play, the sponsor, and is that you that owns that company?
00:10:31And I want to know, who makes the decisions over there?
00:10:35Because I've seen you be the main manager.
00:10:38I've seen Cholo be the main manager.
00:10:41I've seen, I think, JJ at some point.
00:10:44Schmizzy might have been running the team at one of the tournaments.
00:10:48So, what do you think?
00:10:50What's your background in slow pitch?
00:10:51What is Straight Play, and who's making the decisions over there?
00:10:55Because you guys have been doing a great job.
00:10:59So, my background is, I was actually just playing League Night
00:11:04in some local tourneys, you know, early 2010s,
00:11:08into the mid-2010s, 2015, 2016, 2017.
00:11:12In Southern California, right?
00:11:13Southern California, yeah.
00:11:14And I had a buddy who played on my League Night team.
00:11:18His wife, or girlfriend at the time, was friends with my girlfriend.
00:11:22And he asked me to come out on a Saturday.
00:11:24They had just started a SoCal E-U-S-S-A team.
00:11:31So, I went out there for a tournament, or something along those lines,
00:11:33and ultimately saw the way it was going.
00:11:36And, you know, I've always been, like, kind of guy, like,
00:11:38when I go into something, I want to accomplish it at the highest levels.
00:11:43And so, I said, you know, let's get better players.
00:11:47And I started sponsoring it.
00:11:49And then, ultimately, through that, I became friends with Cenk Granados,
00:11:56who introduced me to Joey.
00:12:00That was in 2019.
00:12:01So, that was my first full year.
00:12:03So, I was running an E-team.
00:12:05And then, I had, I was with AA Bay Area that year.
00:12:10We won AA that year.
00:12:12And then, you know, from 2019 to present day, you know,
00:12:18I went from division to division to division, and just organically,
00:12:22you know, built my teams, you know, cut the fat, more or less,
00:12:28replaced those guys with next level guys, and rinse, wash,
00:12:32repeat, all the way up.
00:12:34And so, ultimately, you know, here we are in AA with the same formula
00:12:40that we were using back in 19 from E to D.
00:12:43And I don't think I realized, I don't think I realized you got a ring
00:12:47with Bay Area.
00:12:48I don't, I didn't realize that.
00:12:50Yeah, I came in with them mid-season.
00:12:54What was that, Joel?
00:12:55That team was ridiculous.
00:12:57Yeah, I was like, look at that roster.
00:12:59The McClanahan, Wilson, Marshburn, Bynum, Mullins, Pinkham.
00:13:06Laser.
00:13:06Who am I missing?
00:13:07Everybody?
00:13:08Laser Dave.
00:13:09With Miller, was Andrew Miller on the bench?
00:13:13No, which Miller?
00:13:15The middle infield.
00:13:16Reno bench, but Chance, big part of that.
00:13:21Bynum.
00:13:23Wow.
00:13:23Marshburn was playing outfield on that team.
00:13:25Yeah.
00:13:26That was a great team.
00:13:27Danny, we want to know how Jeffrey Redden is doing.
00:13:31He got, I don't know if he got injured, or he had some health problems
00:13:35early in the season.
00:13:36How's he doing?
00:13:37Thank you for asking.
00:13:39He's doing well.
00:13:40He's not physically where he was prior to the medical condition,
00:13:48but he ultimately had a stroke.
00:13:51They don't even really know what caused it, but he had a stroke.
00:13:54And man, he was in bad shape physically, and his spirits were pretty down.
00:13:59The guy was in tip-top shape, in the best shape of his life.
00:14:03And honestly, I think he was fixing to have everybody was going to know
00:14:07his name at the end of this year.
00:14:08I mean, if you look at his numbers, what he did at the dual,
00:14:11they were impressive.
00:14:12And to know the amount of work he put in, in the offseason,
00:14:16and what his goals were for the year, a lot of people were laughing.
00:14:21And I know that boy.
00:14:23It wasn't funny.
00:14:23He had some lofty goals, and I think he was on the right foot to accomplish them.
00:14:27But long story long, he's doing great, and he will actually
00:14:32be out in Florida with us.
00:14:33So I'm excited to have him out.
00:14:34Oh, nice.
00:14:35Yeah, he's going to be in uniform.
00:14:37Yeah, yeah.
00:14:38So he's, you know, I asked him recently where he was at.
00:14:41He said 70% of where he was prior to going.
00:14:45But you know, it's a blessing to have him out, and to have him back healthy.
00:14:50Yeah, I realized Jeffrey Redden was, I think he was really fighting for his life
00:14:54at some point earlier in the season.
00:14:56And he had like an 80 on base percentage after those first two tournaments,
00:15:01which was awesome to see.
00:15:03So it'll be great to see him back out at the Worlds in a couple weeks.
00:15:08Joelle, I wanted to ask you how SportsReach finished their season
00:15:13at Evansville in the Conference Championship.
00:15:18Couple of questions.
00:15:19Why do none of the AA teams play the USA AA Nationals?
00:15:25And what happened to Rich Roccobaldo, your guy's team leader?
00:15:29All of a sudden, he's over there running bases for RUF-X.
00:15:33What was the first question?
00:15:36The Conference Championship?
00:15:38How'd you guys do in Evansville in the Conference Championship?
00:15:43Evansville has been really good to, personally, me.
00:15:48Like, the past three years, I have made all conference there every single time.
00:15:53However, it is on my birthday, and I make that 11-hour drive with my dog
00:15:58to Indiana every year.
00:16:00And we get there, and we have a blasty blast.
00:16:02And so the in-laws are actually right around the corner.
00:16:05So it's a nice little family reunion.
00:16:06It's pretty good.
00:16:07We got fourth in the first.
00:16:10And like every duel, we go fourth, and then we go 0-2.
00:16:14It was, you know, it's sick.
00:16:17I'm not saying I'm mad.
00:16:18Luckily, the AA Worlds is not a duel, you know?
00:16:21So it's one of those things where it was pretty good.
00:16:24Like, all season long, we've been, bro, it's battling.
00:16:29It's nice.
00:16:29It doesn't matter what the score is.
00:16:31Everybody goes up there with the same, like, I'm not getting out.
00:16:34All right, so you better not either.
00:16:35It's awesome.
00:16:38The AA Nationals is tricky because, like Stevie said, that year that I went,
00:16:46it's that USA and that U-Trip, it's, I think it's just got to be,
00:16:54it's just got to be, like, known.
00:16:56You'll be like, hey, this over here, you should do it.
00:16:58It's a really big deal.
00:16:59Because I did it when I was in the Marine Corps in 18 and in 17.
00:17:06And I went there because, yo, it was cool and everything.
00:17:10And then, like, and then I went as a civilian in 21, and we won it.
00:17:13And I was like, oh, this is dope.
00:17:16So, like, I always try to push it.
00:17:17I'm down to always play.
00:17:19I'm not really sure.
00:17:19Maybe it's not enough notoriety or anything like that.
00:17:22But Rich Roccobaldo, bro, you're not going to hear anything bad out of me.
00:17:29Roccobaldo's, like, my favorite big brother.
00:17:31I feel like he's the man.
00:17:32He's got all five.
00:17:33He can run, jump, swim, throw, catch.
00:17:36He can do it all, I think, personally.
00:17:40Bro, he's been in, like, the major, like, flirting around with his major
00:17:45world win for so long.
00:17:47And he's been knocked down so many times.
00:17:48He was on the greatest of the greatest of the greatest Dan Smith of all time.
00:17:51And then he popped his bicep, and then he got third.
00:17:55And then when he was with Pure, and he, like, did something there.
00:17:58And, like, I'm not mad.
00:18:00I kind of begged him to come to Sports Reach, because he looked at me,
00:18:03he's like, yo, I said yes.
00:18:05And I called, and I said yes.
00:18:06And then he wasn't feeling it.
00:18:08And most of his boys are over there anyway.
00:18:10And he should be playing up anyway.
00:18:11And it's one of those things where, like, yo, where I'm going,
00:18:14I'm not mad at him.
00:18:15I don't think anybody's mad at him.
00:18:16Everybody knows Rich Roccobaldo, that he wants to run bases.
00:18:20That's hilarious.
00:18:22But it's like, yo, he just fits in better over there.
00:18:28Cashwell, McClanahan, those are all his boys over there.
00:18:30So it's like, he should be up there anyway, is what I think, personally.
00:18:35Well, hopefully he stays ready, and he gets that one shot.
00:18:39And he makes the most of it.
00:18:41And, you know, maybe Rufex does something special in the postseason.
00:18:46But we're going to move on to segment three,
00:18:48which is our picks for the awards.
00:18:52The conference awards come out during the Major World Series.
00:18:55Each night, they pause in between games, and they give out
00:18:59some of the big awards, and then the first and second team all-conference.
00:19:04We're just going to pick some of the big ones.
00:19:06Of course, 2024 champions on the men's side
00:19:12is Rosamondo, All-American Restoration, major team out of Florida.
00:19:18It's a good question.
00:19:19I should have asked Stroh before the show.
00:19:21Does Rufex get the conference trophy, or is it Rosamondo?
00:19:28I think it's based off of the regular season.
00:19:30So Rufex would get the trophy, but Rosamondo won the points.
00:19:35We'll see what happens.
00:19:36It'll be some drama.
00:19:382024 women's champion, Monsta La Familia, GTL,
00:19:43major team based out of Florida.
00:19:47We'll go to start with Joelle.
00:19:50Frank Webb, manager of the year, and second team manager of the year.
00:19:54Who do you think would earn those?
00:19:57First team's usually from the major division.
00:20:02Second team's usually from the AA or A division.
00:20:06What do you think?
00:20:08AA, I would be like, it's a toss-up between the Cats over there
00:20:13and Straight Play and Rufex, because nobody does Leaps and Bounds
00:20:18more than them, really.
00:20:20Everybody kind of stays pretty, or there's
00:20:23people that are hot at the beginning, cold at the end.
00:20:26So far, every year, I've heard Straight Play, and I've heard Rufex.
00:20:29And then last year, Rufex, didn't he win it last year because they won AA?
00:20:33But this year, at the beginning of the year,
00:20:36we were like, Rez Mondo by a million.
00:20:39And then they got 20-pieced a bunch of times in a row.
00:20:42And then I'm here like, oh, oh, oh.
00:20:44But then again, it's a stadium.
00:20:45So then I'm here like, all right, let's bring it back.
00:20:47But I would go Rufex.
00:20:49I would go, what's his name?
00:20:52That's their team, Specialty.
00:20:54Yeah.
00:20:56And Danny, or second team?
00:20:58Yeah, for sure.
00:21:00All right, Danny, what do you got?
00:21:01You can hope for yourself.
00:21:02I appreciate the tough-ass opponent all year.
00:21:05I appreciate that.
00:21:07Yeah, you got to like what Rufex's manager does.
00:21:10Like, the thing I respect about them is they really know who they are.
00:21:15You know, they have their identity, and they beat you their way.
00:21:18Like, they don't try to out-Rez Mondo.
00:21:20Rez Mondo, it's something I've told my guys all year.
00:21:22Like, when we play them, like, you're not going to beat them in a home-run derby.
00:21:26You know, you got to have your own identity and beat them that way.
00:21:30And that's something I really respect because it's not easy to do when you get
00:21:35into these games, and these guys are, you know, blowing them out like that.
00:21:39It's real easy to fall into that and try to keep up and change your swing.
00:21:42I mean, you see it happen all the time.
00:21:43I think that's why they run away from so many teams so often because guys change
00:21:47their whole approach, and that's where, you know, you can't do that.
00:21:51You got to play your game, your style, your brand, and try to be like that.
00:21:54And I respect that a lot about them.
00:21:56So, I would say I would definitely go there.
00:21:58But you got to respect Brett, too.
00:22:00I mean, the amount of pressure that's on those guys.
00:22:02Like, if they lose, the world's coming to an end.
00:22:04You know, they're expected, I mean, to go into every single tournament with the
00:22:09amount of talent in these tournaments and be expected to win every single
00:22:13tournament, and when you don't, it's going to be all negativity coming at you.
00:22:16I mean, that's really, really difficult.
00:22:18And to manage those personalities on that roster, man, it'd be crazy not to
00:22:23have at least have him, you know, in consideration every single year.
00:22:26I mean, if there's any success there, he's definitely going to be one guy that's
00:22:29going to get consideration of my vote.
00:22:31That's right.
00:22:32Yeah, for sure.
00:22:33Steve, you got any different picks there for first team and
00:22:36second team manager of the year?
00:22:38Well, I mean, first, you know, to me, I'm going to give a nod to Brett, just for
00:22:42a simple fact, because he started out the year hot, then they went through a rough
00:22:45time, and then at the end, he's got them back playing where they're supposed to be
00:22:48playing.
00:22:50So, I mean, and like I said, you know, to match what he's got over there, you know,
00:22:55he's got a bunch of people on the bench that would start for other major teams.
00:22:59And, you know, to keep them happy, you know, that's hard to do.
00:23:02It's hard to keep people happy.
00:23:04Everybody knows the egos.
00:23:08All these guys here got egos bigger than, you know, your house.
00:23:14I mean, so it's hard.
00:23:16And then, you know, as far as double A, you know, Danny and I even going to give,
00:23:21you know, Joel's coach, you know, Haney, you know, a nod.
00:23:25Both them guys have done great.
00:23:27Double A, they beat those, you know, they both beat.
00:23:30Danny, I think y'all beat Rosamundo this year, haven't you?
00:23:32Yeah, yeah, we beat them at Phoenix.
00:23:34Right, and you got us at the dual, you know, and I give them two right there.
00:23:40They neck and neck, you know.
00:23:42Yeah, I think Brett, of course, whoever wins the points kind of deserves that
00:23:48award, but I'm going to go, they're going to be mad at me.
00:23:51I would go away from Brett, and I would say Spencer Sangster this year.
00:23:56He came from outside of their organization, helped them piece together a great team.
00:24:04Early in the season, I actually thought he was overmanaging a little bit,
00:24:07but as I watched, the team bought into his managing style.
00:24:14And when they would go 7-0 against Rosamundo, that there's some managing
00:24:19involved in that, and so I'm going to go with him.
00:24:23Second team, Danny, I think you deserve a lot of votes, and I think Mike Haney
00:24:29deserves a lot of votes, but Danny, I didn't see you there all year,
00:24:33so I'm going with Steven Robbs.
00:24:35Steven Robbs, I-57, top A team.
00:24:39They played like a double A team.
00:24:41Their original roster was built legit A, so I think he did a lot.
00:24:46He really pieced it together, and I'm going to go with Steven Robbs as the pick.
00:24:52We'll move on.
00:24:53And a quick mention, solely because of the difficulty, Chris Greiner,
00:25:00like A-sponsored coach, and all those egos on there,
00:25:08like solely on that fist bump, big ups.
00:25:12You know, Chris deserves some votes as well as Haney and Haker.
00:25:17Chris, because he's batting second on the lineup, which is, you know,
00:25:22to put the lineup together before the game, tell people they're not going
00:25:26to play this game or whatever, like it's a whole nother level of stress,
00:25:31and then to go out and be the second batter and finish third in points.
00:25:37And he did a smart thing.
00:25:39He front-loaded that schedule and got a lot of points early on,
00:25:43which gave them better seeds, and even when they didn't play well,
00:25:46they're still getting points and moving forward because of their seed.
00:25:52Danny, we'll start with you on the Conference Rookie of the Year,
00:25:56and the list was not that long.
00:25:59I can't even think of too many candidates.
00:26:03So what do you got for Rookie of the Year?
00:26:08I think it's Matt Valencia has put up crazy numbers all year.
00:26:15He's been consistent all year, and, you know, he can talk about,
00:26:19like, the tournaments or the competition or whatever the case,
00:26:22but the dudes put up monster numbers, monster, monster numbers.
00:26:25So I think just in and of itself, it's too much to overcome.
00:26:30I haven't seen any other rookies that have really stood out,
00:26:34stood out to me that gave it a lot of competition, but, you know,
00:26:39that doesn't change the fact that that kid's put up some crazy,
00:26:42crazy numbers this year.
00:26:44Yeah, I feel like this is the lightest year for the rookies.
00:26:47Like, last year, you could make a whole team.
00:26:50You can make a whole double-A team out of the Rookie of the Year candidates last year.
00:26:55This year, I could only come up with two, Kyle Hancock from Bay Area Legends,
00:27:01and then he kind of got hurt towards the end of the year,
00:27:03some sort of leg injury, and he kind of tailed off.
00:27:06But, Steve, what do you think?
00:27:08Have you seen any rookies out there?
00:27:10As a major team, you might not even know who the rookies are.
00:27:14I'm going to be perfectly honest with you, DW.
00:27:16I have no clue about any rookies and everything.
00:27:20But I want to bring up, you know, where you said I-57 had a legit A roster.
00:27:26I had a legit A roster at one time I put together.
00:27:29Am I right, Joel?
00:27:33We didn't end up A, but it's all right.
00:27:37But I do not know any rookies.
00:27:39I apologize for that because I do not know.
00:27:42Yeah, Valencia hit 771 for cheap suits.
00:27:46I think he was MVP of tournament like three times
00:27:49in those West Coast tournaments.
00:27:50So he's pretty dominant.
00:27:52Joel, you're muted, but what do you got for Rookie of the Year?
00:27:58By the way, Stevie, I was like, say it again for the people in the back.
00:28:01Sorry, I was muted because I know I cut you off
00:28:04and I don't got to talk when you guys are talking.
00:28:06I don't seem to learn that lesson very often.
00:28:10My boy and I, we discuss and like the Rookie of the Year thing.
00:28:13It's tricky, man.
00:28:14It's tricky getting rookies.
00:28:16It's tough being a rookie.
00:28:19Like, no, I don't care how many people say, it's underhand.
00:28:22It's slow pitch.
00:28:23Oh, yeah, why aren't you hitting 1,000?
00:28:25Very simple answer right there.
00:28:28There's a cat that hit 757.
00:28:31Now you got to embrace 757.
00:28:32He was 57 home runs.
00:28:35And he was the Salt Lake City alternate.
00:28:38Carlos Obrego.
00:28:41He's not a rookie.
00:28:42He's not a rookie.
00:28:43No, he won eight Worlds last year with straight play.
00:28:48OK, so yeah, I just never seen him anywhere.
00:28:51And I was just like, yo, who is this cat?
00:28:53So he crushes it.
00:28:54It makes a lot of sense he's a sophomore.
00:28:57But Valencia, his teammate, I guess he just rubbed off on him.
00:29:02Yeah, Valencia with the 771, he was a masher all year.
00:29:07He was crushing it all year long.
00:29:08We didn't play cheap suits.
00:29:10But the thing was, I like cheap suits.
00:29:12Didn't cheap suits at the beginning of the year
00:29:15like wax a bunch of people in the duels?
00:29:19And there was a point where I think they beat Juno also.
00:29:22And then everybody was like, oh, snap, that was in Dallas,
00:29:24I think.
00:29:25And like, said cheap suits always has.
00:29:27And I had that shortstop from Bay Area.
00:29:30Is that the one that you were talking about?
00:29:32Kyle Hancock, yep.
00:29:34Yo, he's legit.
00:29:37He's legit.
00:29:38He comes out hot, those cats.
00:29:39And he's surrounded by a great crowd.
00:29:41One of my favorite players of all time, Bryson Baker.
00:29:44And he comes out there.
00:29:44And it's like, yo, who wouldn't want
00:29:46to play for cats like that?
00:29:46Granados and all those freaking cats.
00:29:49And who else is there?
00:29:50My boy Zach Ross.
00:29:51And yo, it's like, I like that.
00:29:53I like that whole, I like those rookies coming out of the A.
00:29:58I don't like it when they start so early.
00:30:01Because then you'll be overstreak.
00:30:02You'll be 2-0 at the Major World Series
00:30:05not knowing what to do with yourself.
00:30:07Yeah, there's a huge rookie crop the last two years.
00:30:10Not so much this year.
00:30:11But we'll move on.
00:30:12The home run champion, of course, Tyler Irvine.
00:30:15106 homers for RUF-X.
00:30:18I think second year in a row he's won the home run title.
00:30:21On base champion, which to me is the most prestigious award,
00:30:25Kyle Pearson of Rosmondo.
00:30:278.73 on base.
00:30:29He beats last year's record of 8.41, which he set.
00:30:34And I think if we added him up, he
00:30:37had more than half of his at-bats on baseball fields,
00:30:40which just makes that 8.73 unbelievable.
00:30:45So Joel, we'll go quickly to defensive player of the year.
00:30:51Who do you got this year?
00:30:53Oh, and cherry on top with Kyle Pearson and Tyler Irvine.
00:31:00Yeah, they drop bombs and they hit.
00:31:02Did you see Tyler Irvine play second base this year?
00:31:05Yeah.
00:31:05That was awesome.
00:31:07I don't know about you, but that was wild.
00:31:10Defensive player of the year, all the middlemen.
00:31:13There's so many middlemen.
00:31:15Mr. Bayzat, I don't know how many times you got to see it.
00:31:20But the arm, the glove, the footwork, man,
00:31:22always in front of the ball gets you out.
00:31:24And then you got Daniel Clayton.
00:31:29Clayton's always just on it.
00:31:30Clayton's always just a wild.
00:31:32And then Heath Barnes.
00:31:33And then every now and then they switch off.
00:31:35I can't.
00:31:36And then you throw around Jojo Bennett.
00:31:40He threw around everywhere.
00:31:42I saw him make 1,000 plays at the Smokies.
00:31:44It was incredible.
00:31:47Who's that shortstop for sports reach?
00:31:49That cat's pretty good.
00:31:50And then comes a bunch of other cats.
00:31:56There's Fry, Mr. Fry.
00:31:59Yo, always in the conversation.
00:32:02I can't stand how many times I see him play.
00:32:05And I'm like, damn, I got to hit.
00:32:06I got to go back to the lab and do my own thing now.
00:32:12I would say between me and Fry, honestly,
00:32:18we've had the hardest style of brackets
00:32:20because we don't have the firepower behind us,
00:32:23whereas Mondo and Sonny's does.
00:32:25But it's usually number two.
00:32:26So I'll go Fry.
00:32:27That's what happens usually, right?
00:32:29Jeremy Fry.
00:32:29Yeah, Fry was on my list too.
00:32:32He broke his finger at the Smokey diving for a ball.
00:32:37And he didn't quite throw it accurately
00:32:39the rest of the season.
00:32:41So I'm going to leave him off.
00:32:43But Danny, who do you got for Defensive Player of the Year?
00:32:47It's a tough one.
00:32:49Man, I'm going all the way in on this one
00:32:51because this man never gets talked about.
00:32:53I know what you're going to say.
00:32:55Chad Erickson.
00:32:56Chad Erickson, man, he's absolutely changed.
00:32:59He's elite defensively.
00:33:01And he's literally been the heart and soul of our defense.
00:33:07I mean, we finished fourth in Poison.
00:33:08And Chad was a huge part of that with the plays
00:33:12he was making in the outfield.
00:33:14Chad, he's next level.
00:33:17Next level, elite, elite center fielder.
00:33:21But yeah, I mean, the middle guys, I mean,
00:33:24obviously, Joel's a damn good shortstop.
00:33:26He's made some amazing plays against us.
00:33:29JoJo against us in Evansville, man,
00:33:31made an absolutely incredible play.
00:33:34If you guys got time, go back and watch
00:33:37that stream of straight play Juno in Evansville
00:33:41and watch the play JoJo makes.
00:33:42It was the best play made against us all year.
00:33:45But my pick is Chad Erickson, man.
00:33:47I've seen what he's done for us firsthand.
00:33:49I can't go anywhere else besides there.
00:33:51Yeah, no doubt.
00:33:53Steve, who you got over there for Sunnies?
00:33:55You got some candidates?
00:33:57Yeah, well, I ain't going to go with my guys.
00:34:00But if I'm going to go with an infielder,
00:34:02it's going to be Joel, first and foremost,
00:34:06even though me and Joel's friends and stuff.
00:34:08But we're not playing now together or whatever.
00:34:13But Joel, I've seen it firsthand year in, year out.
00:34:16He don't get the recognition he deserves.
00:34:19That mug can play.
00:34:21And glove it, he's hitting a thousand.
00:34:24He's hitting great now.
00:34:26He's freaking, he's just a stud.
00:34:27I mean, I'm not saying this because he's on here.
00:34:30Joel's a stud.
00:34:32But outfield, I mean, I'm going to give Erickson the nod
00:34:36myself.
00:34:37Him and Joel's center fielder are neck and neck.
00:34:41I mean, both of them can absolutely
00:34:43go get it and hit it.
00:34:45And I mean, they're both top shelf defensive center
00:34:48fielders in the book.
00:34:50Yeah.
00:34:51I mean, I'd like to, you know, my center fielder
00:34:54never gets tired.
00:34:55But they got a little extra burst,
00:34:56but still can hit it a country mile, though.
00:35:00But defensively, them two can go get it.
00:35:04Yeah, probably another guy we're not talking about
00:35:09is Marshburn.
00:35:10Had a really good year at short.
00:35:12He kind of, you know,
00:35:14I just had that right here.
00:35:15I just had Marshburn and Austin Andrews.
00:35:18I was like, oh.
00:35:19Yeah, Austin Andrews, always good.
00:35:22I'm going with a controversial pick
00:35:25because he didn't start every game.
00:35:28I'm going with Kyle Center, a Rufax pitcher,
00:35:327-0 against Rosmando this year.
00:35:36He won both duels, pitching most of the way
00:35:39because Mooch got hurt.
00:35:42Mooch has had a great year.
00:35:43Remember, he threw the no-hitter against Jesus
00:35:47in the Hall of Fame.
00:35:48I mean, his legend continues.
00:35:51But for me, Kyle Center defended the middle,
00:35:55and he is a reason Rufax won the computer rankings
00:36:00and have, you know,
00:36:02they were right there in the points until the end.
00:36:05So that's my pick.
00:36:06I don't know if they'll consider him or not,
00:36:09considering he didn't start every game.
00:36:12But so the next three awards are kind of,
00:36:16are two awards, are, you know,
00:36:21they could go to the same guy, right?
00:36:23But I always say over the years,
00:36:24I think on-base champ, defensive,
00:36:27or on-base champ, offensive player of the year,
00:36:30and MVP, I think should go to three different people.
00:36:33So we recognize three different people.
00:36:35Let's be honest, Pearson won the on-base.
00:36:38He could be, he's probably the offensive player of the year,
00:36:42and he could be considered the most valuable player.
00:36:44But I prefer to pick different guys.
00:36:47Steve, we'll go to you first.
00:36:48Who do you think should be the offensive player of the year
00:36:51and most valuable player?
00:36:56Offensive, I mean, I really can't go against KT.
00:37:01I mean, I really can't.
00:37:02You know what I mean?
00:37:03You know, where you said half was on baseball,
00:37:05half there, I think it was harder for,
00:37:08you thought baseball was easier, was harder.
00:37:10I think it's easier for him.
00:37:13The 300-foot mark is what's more impressive to me,
00:37:16him keeping it down and still hitting it,
00:37:19back side and doing that, 300-foot sparks
00:37:21are more for me for him, I mean, him keeping it in.
00:37:25Now, shoot, over all MVP,
00:37:32I'm not going to say much, I hate to say it,
00:37:35but I'm going to go with Sanders.
00:37:37Seven and a goal, he's 7-0 against Rosamundo.
00:37:40He's beat us multiple times, too.
00:37:42I mean, I can't knock him,
00:37:44whether he started all the games or not.
00:37:46The biggings he performed in.
00:37:49So, I can't take nothing away from him.
00:37:55And traditionally, the most valuable player
00:37:57comes from the team that wins the conference championship.
00:38:01So, again, Rufax won
00:38:03the regular season conference championship.
00:38:05Should the MVP come from that team?
00:38:07It should be over all.
00:38:08Rosamundo, in a rare season,
00:38:11they take over the points
00:38:12during the conference championship tournament.
00:38:15So, like, who wins the conference?
00:38:17I don't even know.
00:38:17MVP ought to be over all.
00:38:19It don't matter who, you know, to me.
00:38:21Just who's the best.
00:38:23Yeah, Danny, what do you think about MVP
00:38:26and offensive player of the year?
00:38:29Yeah, that's a hell of a call on Sanders, the MVP.
00:38:33To have a pitcher that puts up the kind of numbers he does,
00:38:36fills the middle, man, he's a game-changer.
00:38:39Absolute game-changer.
00:38:40So, I mean, I'm not mad at that.
00:38:42It's so hard to go when you see a guy hitting 873, though, man.
00:38:46That is insane.
00:38:48But the criteria you put forth,
00:38:51I would go MVP if, you know,
00:38:54Pearson's obviously the on-base champ.
00:38:56I would go MVP center,
00:38:58and then I would go offensive MVP.
00:39:00I'd go and either Irvine or Flip.
00:39:03Flip is amazing, too, man.
00:39:06I think he's the best.
00:39:08Yeah, he's just, he's like, he's very, very,
00:39:11he's the toughest out in the game, I think, for us.
00:39:14So, yeah, I'd probably go Irvine or Flip, one of those two.
00:39:17Yeah, Flip was 809.
00:39:19Phil Matt was 808.
00:39:23And, of course, Pearson, 873.
00:39:25Those are your top three hitters.
00:39:27Joel, what do you got for offensive MVP
00:39:30and most valuable player?
00:39:34First, I need a backpedal.
00:39:35Like, yo, we understand how freaking phenomenal
00:39:39Tyler Marshburn played this year.
00:39:41Like, a short, like, he does a number all every year,
00:39:44and it's, like, really, it's, like,
00:39:46you got to look over and, like, you got to see, like,
00:39:48am I insecure about this?
00:39:49Really, no, I can do it better.
00:39:50But, like, you see what he does,
00:39:52and you're, like, man, that's wild,
00:39:53especially with the craziness that he has behind him
00:39:56and all the people gunning for him constantly.
00:39:58Now, offensive, I mean, 873.
00:40:05Like, and he's playing first,
00:40:08and I know, gimme, gimme, whatever.
00:40:11Like, yo, he's, yo, he's out there to play,
00:40:13and he seems, like, boy, it's just, it's so automatic.
00:40:17It's wild.
00:40:18It's, how do you even get to that?
00:40:22I don't care, but offensive, I give it to Phil Matt
00:40:25because you got to come back after that.
00:40:28You got to, you can't just put everything on Kyle Pearson,
00:40:31and then Phil Matt is always in the middle,
00:40:32and every time he comes up to bat with the bases loaded,
00:40:34I'm here, like, he's going to mess up.
00:40:36Nope, Grand Slam.
00:40:37He hit, like, four against us in a row,
00:40:40and I'm, like, I can't stand this guy.
00:40:44And then it was, what is it, MVP?
00:40:47Yeah.
00:40:49Oh, MVP, I'd give it to Kyle Pearson
00:40:51because who hits 873
00:40:53after they just shattered their own record last year?
00:40:55I'm sorry.
00:40:56Like, that's crazy.
00:40:57That's insane.
00:40:58Like, that deserves all time.
00:41:01I remember there was a time in Chicago
00:41:03where we're, like, damn, I haven't seen him get out.
00:41:05He must be hitting 900, and I checked.
00:41:07Nope, he's not hitting 900.
00:41:08He's hitting 1,000.
00:41:10Yeah, he had 40-something on base successfully in a row,
00:41:14like, 46 or some crazy number.
00:41:17That's wild.
00:41:18What else is comparing?
00:41:19What in the game is comparing to,
00:41:22I get it, Kyle Center's killing it.
00:41:24That was, I was going to give him the other thing
00:41:26that we're going to talk about,
00:41:27but the thing is, I, like.
00:41:31Yeah, I had-
00:41:32The one thing you said about baseball and softball is
00:41:34baseball is really hard to make contact.
00:41:35Softball, my mom can make contact
00:41:37with an Andy Purcell knuckleball.
00:41:39It's getting on base.
00:41:40It's using the home runs wisely.
00:41:42It's making sure the defense knows they're getting,
00:41:45you got to turn them into Swiss cheese
00:41:46to make sure the rest of your lineup can get on base.
00:41:48Like, yo, it's not that easy.
00:41:50Softball's not that easy.
00:41:51I don't know who keeps saying it's easy.
00:41:54Like, if it's go easy, go play E.
00:41:56Stop saying that.
00:41:57Not here.
00:41:58That's not what this, nothing here is easy.
00:42:00I couldn't agree more.
00:42:01Yeah, I had Kyle Center as defensive player of the year.
00:42:04I'm going to go with KP as MVP,
00:42:09and batting title,
00:42:10even though I'd like to see those awards separate.
00:42:12And I think on base,
00:42:14I think on base percentage is more prestigious than MVP.
00:42:18Maybe I'm an E or according to Dan Sanchez.
00:42:22Anyways, offensive player of the year,
00:42:25I had Phillip Washington or Phil Matt.
00:42:27I'm going to go with Phillip just because
00:42:30he beat him by a point, 809 to 808,
00:42:33but he did it with less home run, home runs.
00:42:37But Phil Matt was under the radar all year.
00:42:41Let's be honest.
00:42:42He had a monster season.
00:42:44So let's see, we wrap up the awards
00:42:47with the Dwayne Posovitz umpire of the year,
00:42:51the rookie umpire of the year.
00:42:54And I made up an award pitcher of the year.
00:42:57I tried to get it.
00:42:58I even offered to USSSA to buy the award each year myself
00:43:03and call it the Andy Purcell pitcher of the year,
00:43:07but they never went for it.
00:43:08That way you can separate defensive player
00:43:11from pitcher of the year, you know, I think.
00:43:14So what do you guys think?
00:43:15We'll start with Steve.
00:43:17Dwayne Posovitz umpire of the year,
00:43:19rookie of the year, and pitcher of the year.
00:43:25Well, you know, of course I got to go with,
00:43:27you know, center's pitcher of the year.
00:43:30Yeah, just for the offensive numbers and, you know, defense.
00:43:36I'm gonna be honest with you.
00:43:37I don't know, I don't know who the rookie umpires are.
00:43:39I'm ready with you, Steve.
00:43:40I can't, I don't know who the rookie umpires are.
00:43:43So we might just skip over that one.
00:43:45Apologies to all those umpires.
00:43:47I feel like we've seen everybody.
00:43:50I feel like all the umpires that we've seen this year,
00:43:52we saw the previous year.
00:43:54So I don't know which ones are considered a rookie
00:43:57based on number of appearances.
00:44:00And as far as umpire, you know,
00:44:01the umpires we had, it's pretty consistent.
00:44:03I mean, I, you know,
00:44:05Marshall Grissom, I thought was pretty solid myself.
00:44:08You know, he called it fair as can be in my eyes,
00:44:12you know, and, you know,
00:44:14let everybody know what was going on.
00:44:16We made, calls were being made.
00:44:19He's made them, you know, so.
00:44:21Yeah.
00:44:22You said Mark, right?
00:44:25No, Marshall Grissom.
00:44:27Oh, Marshall, Marshall Grissom,
00:44:29who did a lot of the UIC work as well.
00:44:32Yeah, he did.
00:44:33I mean, I would consider him as an umpire.
00:44:36Yeah, yeah.
00:44:37He umpires a lot.
00:44:38But in the games that we had, Marshall,
00:44:40I thought he was about as firing consistent as you can get.
00:44:44Yeah, he's a true professional for sure.
00:44:46Exactly.
00:44:47That's what I like about him.
00:44:49Yeah.
00:44:49Danny, who you got for those three?
00:44:52Um, you know, the one that I think stood out the most to me,
00:44:59just when you have him,
00:45:00I feel like you're gonna get a fair shake for sure.
00:45:03Both teams will play by the same rules.
00:45:05Bruce, Bruce, we had him in,
00:45:07last time we had him was in Evansville.
00:45:10I really enjoyed.
00:45:11Bruce Guillory, Bruce Guillory.
00:45:13Yeah, he's absolutely top-notch.
00:45:16Controls the game well.
00:45:18You know, if you have questions,
00:45:20he gives you, he just, he's super professional
00:45:24and both teams play by the same rules.
00:45:26Very, very consistent.
00:45:27You know, that's what I always say.
00:45:29I don't care if you have a big zone, a small zone,
00:45:32a good zone, a bad zone,
00:45:33as long as it's the same zone for both teams, I'm good.
00:45:37And he's very consistent.
00:45:40Yeah.
00:45:42Pitcher of the year, Kyle, center,
00:45:44or you have another pick?
00:45:50Danny, can you hear me?
00:45:51Yeah, sorry about that.
00:45:53Pitcher of the year.
00:45:55Well, yeah, I mean, could you again go back to center?
00:45:59What he's done this year has been amazing.
00:46:02Oh, he's gotta give one of my guys a tip of the cap.
00:46:05Josh Jones, you know,
00:46:06I feel like he doesn't get the recognition he deserves.
00:46:08He's an absolute bulldog
00:46:09and leads us to many victories on his shoulders.
00:46:13But yeah, I think, you know,
00:46:15the one that gives us the most trouble actually is Pink, man.
00:46:18He is an absolute game changer, man.
00:46:20He is so tough.
00:46:22Like, he's the one that I feel like
00:46:25just changes the game when we play him.
00:46:27But center's done the most.
00:46:30You know, he would be the pitcher of the year, for sure.
00:46:32Yeah, Pink probably with the injury,
00:46:34he's been fighting all year.
00:46:36I didn't even know it was a double hernia.
00:46:37I thought it was some sort of leg injury.
00:46:40But yeah, that's really slowed him down.
00:46:42Joel, what do you got for umpire of the year
00:46:45and pitcher of the year, even though it's not an award?
00:46:49I'm going to go outside the box here.
00:46:51I think all the umpires deserve way more power,
00:46:55way more recognition, way more participation,
00:46:57way more, like, awards and stuff like that.
00:47:01The amount of grown men that yell at these men
00:47:06that don't play the game, like, they're the ex-husbands.
00:47:10Like, they're always wrong and nobody believes them.
00:47:13Like, no, they're,
00:47:15everything you say, it doesn't matter.
00:47:17Everyone hates you for every little call.
00:47:19Even me, when I tell them,
00:47:21hey, great job out there, it's crazy out there.
00:47:24I can see me making one play, I'll be like,
00:47:26what are you looking at?
00:47:27Like, it's the abuse that happens there.
00:47:32And then for them to stay calm and professional enough
00:47:35to not involve yourself in the game.
00:47:38That's really what umpiring is, right?
00:47:39Like, you don't involve yourself in the game,
00:47:42you don't get involved in the game.
00:47:43You don't involve yourself in the game,
00:47:45you don't make a, you don't affect the game at all.
00:47:49Like, that's a wild stat.
00:47:52Like, that's incredible.
00:47:53Like, the amount of things.
00:47:56Thank God I'm not an umpire,
00:47:57everybody gets thrown out almost every other game.
00:47:59You could blink at me the wrong way, you're out of here.
00:48:01So it's like, honestly, they all deserve a super,
00:48:05I want to know how to compensate them correctly.
00:48:08You know, like, the fact that they choose to be out there,
00:48:10they love the game that much.
00:48:11Like, I just want to say my appreciation
00:48:13to all those cats that show up.
00:48:15The 8am games, the 3am games, the in-between,
00:48:19the bat, the hauling of the garbage can with the bats.
00:48:24Yeah.
00:48:25That's...
00:48:28Yo, you got to be in physical shape now,
00:48:30to haul bats around.
00:48:32Hell no.
00:48:33Yo, like, that's such a crit.
00:48:36I feel every time they come out, I'm like,
00:48:39oh, bro, they're going to get yelled at for sure.
00:48:41This game, I'm sorry, man.
00:48:42But like, they just get my appreciation completely.
00:48:45Like, nobody specifically, because it's such a tough...
00:48:49And let's not forget those really, really, really,
00:48:51really tough plays, the in-between,
00:48:53they're like, all right, here's the scenario.
00:48:55Like, who's out?
00:48:56Like, did we not just see branch, tag, miss,
00:49:01and then everyone got safe,
00:49:03and then everybody's the umpires of the world.
00:49:06Like, yo, crazy.
00:49:08It's crazy being an umpire.
00:49:10Pitcher of the year, that also is something so tricky,
00:49:15because Pinkham's my favorite, unbiased.
00:49:18That was my first, the first person I ever faced
00:49:20in the conference ever.
00:49:21I faced Pinkham, and he's a nightmare.
00:49:23And I average a double play and a solo off of him.
00:49:27So he's just annoying, and he takes a beating.
00:49:30Travis Clark is always the golden standard.
00:49:33Everybody says how great he is, how great he is,
00:49:35how great he is, I don't want to harp on it anymore.
00:49:38Mason Farmer has taken quite the beating this year.
00:49:41But he comes out there, and he plays,
00:49:43and he puts it on him, and he's like,
00:49:45you think he weighs maybe 127 pounds,
00:49:47and he's going to snap in half.
00:49:49But I don't know about you, he got hit by Bradley Jones,
00:49:52he came back, he started pitching again.
00:49:53I was like, oof, you know, I take that person
00:49:56out of the way for you in the parking lot.
00:49:57And that's it.
00:49:58And he does it, he comes out there,
00:49:59and he pitches, and he does his thing.
00:50:00And then Cal Center, you guys have said it,
00:50:03how many more times, and you guys make it seem
00:50:05like this is the first year that he's killing it.
00:50:07He's been killing it with Chick-fil-A forever.
00:50:09He's been doing his thing.
00:50:11And your boy Jonesy over there in straight play,
00:50:13he's annoying as hell.
00:50:14But don't forget that little backup that you have,
00:50:17that bowling ball that you put on everybody,
00:50:19snapping everybody off.
00:50:20And then there's a similar cat in West Point
00:50:23that he looks like his doppelganger,
00:50:25he snapped all of us off in one game.
00:50:28And I was just like, all right, I guess we're all
00:50:30just turning into pitchers, I guess.
00:50:33Bow-bow and blue, I'm biased.
00:50:36But I've never gotten so many grounders in my life.
00:50:40I've never been to a conference event
00:50:42where my pitcher got me a million and a half grounders,
00:50:45and I had a million and a half put outs.
00:50:47It was unbelievable this whole year.
00:50:49Sport, don't forget sport.
00:50:51He's a friggin' bulldog.
00:50:52That dude is, he's two feet, and he's not afraid of you.
00:50:57He will look at you in the eye if he has to.
00:50:59He's not scared of nobody.
00:51:01You gotta love that.
00:51:03Who's the other animal that we have that I'm missing?
00:51:05I'm missing somebody here.
00:51:08Do you have a pick?
00:51:10Do I have a pick?
00:51:15I don't understand the criteria, but at the end of the day,
00:51:17I think who's earned it is the three-count pick.
00:51:22That is, like, Center and Travis Clark, just solely on the,
00:51:26but like, there's no real.
00:51:28Yeah.
00:51:29That's gotta be an award, though.
00:51:30Because then they just win defensive MVP every year,
00:51:32if you really, really think about it.
00:51:33Yeah, I wish it was a separate award,
00:51:36but we'll keep working on them.
00:51:38I mean, then we can make it the end of the season award,
00:51:41you know?
00:51:42Exactly.
00:51:43Nobody.
00:51:44Yeah, I think you said it well with the umpires.
00:51:48They're all there for the right reason,
00:51:50which is really important to the game.
00:51:52I think Greg Jones, just on sheer quantity of work,
00:51:56could get it.
00:51:57Daryl, I like Daryl Rowe, his professionalism on the field.
00:52:02I have Kyle Center as pitcher of the year.
00:52:06We're going to wrap it up with segment four,
00:52:09which is who will win each of the world's B through major?
00:52:14Danny, give us a shout out if you have any opinions
00:52:19on B through major, B to A, double A in major.
00:52:24Yeah, so for B, we actually took a B loss this year.
00:52:30First game of our year to the L.E. Real team, man.
00:52:35They're really good.
00:52:36They are really good.
00:52:37Their sound, they do a lot of good things in the B.
00:52:42But B is just so damn unpredictable, man.
00:52:45You just never know.
00:52:46And, you know, I'm going to bring it back here West Coast.
00:52:51My man Dave at Cutthroat, he's had a winning program
00:52:55all the way up.
00:52:57He's won, I think he's got three rings now,
00:52:59three different divisions, I believe, E, D, and C.
00:53:03He's done it in Florida.
00:53:05And he's got some killers in that lineup.
00:53:09Eric Mattos silently had, you know,
00:53:10former straight play guy had a 7.86 year.
00:53:15Shout out to my boy E.
00:53:17That's a hell of a season.
00:53:18And he's a pure hitter.
00:53:20So it's a legit 7.86.
00:53:22So I'm going to take Cutthroat.
00:53:24I think they go ahead and win the B.
00:53:27For the A, I think the A and AA are so hard to call.
00:53:33You know, I think with Bay Area, you know,
00:53:36gets overlooked because they've had some, like, ugly losses.
00:53:39But if you kind of look into their season,
00:53:42they've had some big wins, too.
00:53:43They've swung above their weight.
00:53:45And that's something I always look at with the B and A
00:53:47divisions, like, which teams have
00:53:48been able to swing above their weight a little bit.
00:53:50I mean, obviously, you want to see what they
00:53:51do against their division, too.
00:53:52But, you know, what's the ceiling on this team?
00:53:55Like, where could they get to when
00:53:57they're firing on all cylinders?
00:53:58And Bay Area is one of those teams that has another level.
00:54:02And they brought in, you know, Cenk Granados, who's, man,
00:54:05he's been a champion his whole life.
00:54:07All that dude does is win in his career.
00:54:10So I think, you know, I like Bay Area.
00:54:11I think LSR's got, LSR and I-57 got the highest ceiling.
00:54:16LSR's been a little bit inconsistent.
00:54:18They had some big wins at the beginning of the year.
00:54:20I think I-57 has been the most consistent.
00:54:22Prime time's always good.
00:54:24But I'm staying West Coast.
00:54:25I'm going to go Bay Area and let my boy Cenk and Joey
00:54:29bring it back over here to the West Coast.
00:54:31The AA, you know, I'm not going to pick that one.
00:54:36I'm just going to say this.
00:54:38You know, those A teams that I mentioned
00:54:40can beat any one of us on any given Saturday, hands down.
00:54:45If you look ahead in that bracket, you will get beat.
00:54:48In the AA.
00:54:48There's no two ways about it.
00:54:51West Point and Classic, people act like they're not there.
00:54:54Classic shows up every October.
00:54:56And if you overlook them, they will beat your ass.
00:54:58West Point may not have had the year that they've had,
00:55:02but they're as good as any AA team.
00:55:04Anybody in the AA division, Joelle's
00:55:06going to tell you as well, we know they are.
00:55:10This division is so even across the board.
00:55:13It's so hard to pick.
00:55:15You know, you got Nitro.
00:55:17I love sport.
00:55:18He's the champion.
00:55:19He's done nothing but win.
00:55:20I like our guy.
00:55:23You know, and then you got SportsFreach
00:55:24who's giving us hell all year.
00:55:26Bobo's been just, I don't even know
00:55:28what to do with that guy, especially after Evansville.
00:55:32And then JBL with all their, all those vets,
00:55:34like, you know they're going to be a tough out in October.
00:55:37They just got done, you know, getting double
00:55:39dipped by Rufex last year.
00:55:40So they got something to prove.
00:55:42Man, oh man, that AA is going to be fireworks.
00:55:44You know, if I wasn't there on the field,
00:55:47I'd definitely be watching with a bowl of popcorn
00:55:49because that's going to be a really fun division to watch.
00:55:52Major, you know, obviously it's Rezzy.
00:55:58You know, Rezzy's built for that Saturday in October.
00:56:01That's what they're built for, you know.
00:56:05But they're saying that this is like going
00:56:06to be the heaviest hurricane year on record.
00:56:09And you give any conditions and Rufex quickly
00:56:12becomes the favorite.
00:56:15Not saying they need that to beat them,
00:56:17but you know, you're playing and you're playing
00:56:19by the Rezmondo code there.
00:56:23But man, Rufex has done so much this year.
00:56:25They've done it their way.
00:56:26And there's just something about them.
00:56:28Like, I've taken a lot of, I've watched
00:56:30a lot of what they do.
00:56:31I really admire the way they just know who they are.
00:56:34And they don't try to beat you at Rezmondo's game.
00:56:36They try to beat you at their game.
00:56:37And I like that a lot.
00:56:38And so I'm going with the Shocker.
00:56:41I'm going to say Rufex takes it.
00:56:43Nice.
00:56:44I like the pick.
00:56:47A little heavy on the West Coast on the other ones, maybe.
00:56:51Steve, Steve, I know you might have to go back to work here.
00:56:54What do you got for your picks if you have to go?
00:56:56Go ahead.
00:56:59The B, you know, Eli, I think's really got a good shot.
00:57:06But there's a local team from Tennessee called Rivals.
00:57:09They just won the WSL in Florida.
00:57:11Both of them, they won the C and the B.
00:57:15Them boys got a great defense.
00:57:16And they hit and hit and hit.
00:57:19And I mean, I give them, in the Aredenian course,
00:57:24you always got Eagle Paint.
00:57:26You know, you just, according to what, Eagle Paint shows up.
00:57:29But if I'm going to go, I'm going to go Eli.
00:57:31I think I'll win it.
00:57:32But I think Rivals will be right there with it.
00:57:34And the A, you know, the A, that's going to be a good one to watch too, I think.
00:57:42But I'm going to go LSR just for a simple fact is, I think they got a lot of pop.
00:57:49You know, when you get them back there and you get them on the big fields,
00:57:51I think they can out-homer a lot of teams and everything myself.
00:57:55Defense is not bad.
00:57:56But the AA, I'm like, you can watch Danny.
00:58:01I mean, you can sit there and watch that popcorn
00:58:03and be loving every day-to-day game that's being played.
00:58:06Because it's going to be a good one.
00:58:08I mean, a really good one.
00:58:11But, you know, it's going to come down to three teams in my book.
00:58:16And that's going to be Sports Reach, Danny, and them.
00:58:19I think JBL.
00:58:21I mean, I really do.
00:58:21I think JBL is going to be in there.
00:58:23I know Martell is going to kick my hind end, you know.
00:58:26But if they get on the roll, they're going to beat people to death.
00:58:29It's just because they got more power than anybody too.
00:58:31You know, they'll be, I better not forget Martell.
00:58:34It'll come down to them four right there in my book.
00:58:37Major, I'm not even going to pick the major
00:58:39because I don't want to put the who-do-you-juice on anybody, you know.
00:58:44You know, of course, Helmer and Em's going to be the favorite, you know.
00:58:47But if it comes down to conditions, you know, defense-wise,
00:58:51ain't nobody better in defense than the major than the Rufex.
00:58:55I don't care.
00:58:56I'll go, I'll tell anybody and everybody that they got the best defense,
00:58:59infield and outfield.
00:59:01They are.
00:59:02They ain't got one liability on defense and that's it, you know.
00:59:07But, you know, to me, whoever hits the home runs
00:59:11and catches the routine balls is going to win it.
00:59:14Everything.
00:59:15For sure.
00:59:16Yeah, I appreciate you coming.
00:59:18So nice to watch.
00:59:21I'm just glad you guys forced that if game last year
00:59:23because that crowd was not ready to go home.
00:59:26And no matter what, if Rosmondo wins it, we got to have an if game.
00:59:31If they wouldn't let me be visitors like I wanted to,
00:59:36I think we might have changed, but I got outvoted.
00:59:40Yeah, so Sonny's for sure has a puncher's chance.
00:59:43If you got to go, Steve, go ahead.
00:59:44But I appreciate you coming in.
00:59:46And I appreciate you, Joel.
00:59:48Thank you, D.W.
00:59:49Thanks, y'all guys.
00:59:50Y'all take care.
00:59:51Hey, Joel, what do you got for Major, B-through Major?
00:59:56Well, we only played – I think we only played one B-team
00:59:58and I think it was Ellie and we almost lost.
01:00:01And that was scary.
01:00:02And then Ellie beat a bunch of people that we seen.
01:00:04Ellie beat a bunch of people and we're like, who are those guys?
01:00:08Like, I don't know anybody on that team.
01:00:10And I'm just like, all right, fine.
01:00:12Like, so like, it's because I don't have enough information on the B.
01:00:17The A is always bananas.
01:00:20Why is the A always crazy?
01:00:23Like, it goes Bay Area, like it goes Beachies, primetime, LSR.
01:00:29Like, anybody can get it at any moment.
01:00:34Do I have a favorite?
01:00:36I'm going to lean on – I lean on Beachies because I know most of those guys.
01:00:42But then Sean Jones, who I've been playing with forever, Jonesy himself on Bay Area.
01:00:48That old man, don't stop.
01:00:50Like, try to mess with him along with his all-star squad behind him.
01:00:54And then primetime, I think – you want to talk about Pitcher of the Year, bro?
01:00:59Rod, how much more golden standard you want of a leader?
01:01:05Like, the fastest, the hardest hitting, and he's a bulldog.
01:01:09He pitches every single game.
01:01:11He don't stop. That knuckleball don't stop.
01:01:13Like, oh, Roderick's the man.
01:01:16Like, I keep forgetting.
01:01:17We should praise him every freaking episode.
01:01:20And then LSR, like, what a fun little squad.
01:01:25The Brady, the Frank, the Rainer, those cats, they mash.
01:01:30Yo, they put us out.
01:01:31And then they have that lefty, that catcher lefty with that wavy hair that he doesn't stop.
01:01:36He's automatic.
01:01:38Yo, it's such a toss-up.
01:01:41I think it'll come down to Beachies and Bay Area.
01:01:46If not those two, like, it's one of those.
01:01:49I think we all get it.
01:01:51Double-A is the hardest.
01:01:53I don't care.
01:01:54Because the major, as long as you out-homer the other, just like he said,
01:01:58you got to out-homer the other cat in the major.
01:02:01It's not easy.
01:02:03Simple game.
01:02:05Out-homer the other person.
01:02:06And make the routine plays.
01:02:08That's it.
01:02:09Double-A is the hardest, because even if you throw the major teams in there,
01:02:14I'm probably certain a major team wouldn't win that.
01:02:17Because I got the A teams that now are just like, well, I'm mad I didn't win the A.
01:02:21I win the Double-A.
01:02:22Do we not remember SNI from 2019?
01:02:26They went, like, 0 and 177.
01:02:28And then they smacked everybody at the Double-A.
01:02:31Hilarious.
01:02:31Shout-out to my boy, Baby Lee.
01:02:33And then all of a sudden, we come around, and it's like, Nitro Circus and JBL.
01:02:39Oh, my God.
01:02:40After last year, bro, I would—bro, they're coming in hot.
01:02:45Nitro Circus, unstoppable like usual.
01:02:48Bro, we have managed to be like, yo, we're in it to win it.
01:02:52I still put money on me.
01:02:53You got to win five.
01:02:55You got to keep it simple.
01:02:56You got to bring it down.
01:02:57I put us.
01:02:58And straight play.
01:03:00How do people—how do you guys always get to the top of the list,
01:03:03and everybody's just like, ah, yeah, but that's just straight play?
01:03:05How did you guys do that?
01:03:07Like, you—like, people forget that you're there.
01:03:09Like, I'm like—I wish, like, I have that invisibility cloak,
01:03:12so people don't take me seriously.
01:03:13It's like, I'll just wax them.
01:03:14Because Tyler Diggins, Bud DeZern, Roxby, like, yo, you got champs there.
01:03:19Roxby has three double A's.
01:03:23What?
01:03:24Say what you will about him.
01:03:26That dude's a champ.
01:03:27Like, it's—Steve Hildebrand said he didn't want to put the who-joo-joo's on somebody.
01:03:36And then the Major.
01:03:40It's so crazy.
01:03:42Because I saw Juno put 30 runs on Resmondo in the first inning.
01:03:48I've never been put 30 runs on in my life, any time in my life, ever.
01:03:55And they came back and they beat him.
01:03:57Run rolled them, too, I think, right?
01:03:59Bro.
01:04:00Yeah.
01:04:01Twice.
01:04:02Like, how do you—
01:04:03What do you—
01:04:05Like, at that point, you have to accept that there's a notion of softball,
01:04:10that you are not in control of.
01:04:12That there really is a softball gods.
01:04:14That there really is some type of luck.
01:04:17There is something there.
01:04:18Somebody has to mess up the bracket somehow for you to outdo Resmondo.
01:04:26How do you agree?
01:04:28Because I think Sonny's has the power.
01:04:29Sonny's has the power.
01:04:30The thing is, I think they need the focus.
01:04:32And then Juno needs to show up.
01:04:35Rufex has the focus.
01:04:37And I think they have the capability.
01:04:39But I still think, Resmondo, they're just too built.
01:04:43There's just too experienced.
01:04:45There's too many times.
01:04:47I've seen—I've seen multiple times Greg Canel run rule, home run, walk off over center field.
01:04:58Not just once.
01:05:00Like, it—oh, my God.
01:05:02The experience just goes in their favor too many times.
01:05:05So, yeah.
01:05:06You like Resmondo, Sports Reach, I-57, and—
01:05:12And Ely.
01:05:12Ely Real?
01:05:14Yeah.
01:05:14Ely Real?
01:05:15Yeah.
01:05:15All right.
01:05:16Yeah, just to wrap it up, my picks, I always go with the math.
01:05:20Because traditionally, the team that wins each world has twice as many wins as they do losses in their class.
01:05:32So, Ely Real, 2-0 in class, GTL 3-0, Thunder 3-0.
01:05:38Who do I go with?
01:05:40I'm kind of rooting for Ely Real because they have a true B team.
01:05:44Like, they don't have chips.
01:05:47But I think Thunder, if Danny Evans shows up at pitcher—
01:05:51Yeah, if Danny Evans shows up at pitcher, I think Thunder wins it.
01:05:57I'm kind of rooting for Ely Real because they did it the right way, in my opinion.
01:06:02A division, there's a team 10-5 in division, that's I-57.
01:06:07And they're prime times 10-5 in division.
01:06:12Bay Area obviously has the roster.
01:06:15LSR had the beginning of the season where they just absolutely dominated.
01:06:19And they've kind of rode that the whole year.
01:06:21And they haven't been playing well since.
01:06:24So, I'm going with I-57 to win the A.
01:06:28AA, there's only one team that had more wins or twice as many wins as losses.
01:06:35That's Straight Play.
01:06:36Straight Play had a 2.61 computer ranking, which is unbelievable for the AA division.
01:06:43Oftentimes, you would confuse them with a major team.
01:06:46Like, they look like they played like a major team.
01:06:49I'm going with Straight Play and the AA.
01:06:53And then the major.
01:06:55The major, something has to give, right?
01:06:58Not one major team had a winning record against other major teams except for Rufex.
01:07:03They were 17-4 against major teams.
01:07:077-0 against Rismando.
01:07:09Rismando was 7-8 against major teams on the year.
01:07:13Sonny, 7-11.
01:07:14Juno, 1-9.
01:07:16How can you be 1-9 and win the Major World Series
01:07:20where you're going to have to win at least two or three games against major teams?
01:07:23I don't think you can do it.
01:07:25I'm going to go with Rufex to win 17-4.
01:07:28Someone's got to beat them twice.
01:07:30But baseball fields aren't their strength, right?
01:07:33They lose to AA teams on baseball fields.
01:07:36So, they got to get there.
01:07:37But I'm still picking Rufex because of the math.
01:07:41I would not put money on them.
01:07:42I would put my money on Rismando.
01:07:45If you told me I got to put money on a team, I'm putting it on Rismando.
01:07:51But my pick for the show is Rufex.
01:07:54So, there.
01:07:54How's that for hedging your bet?
01:07:56I like that.
01:07:57For the show, it's too tricky.
01:08:02It's so tricky.
01:08:03Something has to give.
01:08:04And I know you like the math.
01:08:06And I know you like the stats.
01:08:07And I know you like the concrete evidence.
01:08:09But, yo, something in there has to give.
01:08:14If Mother Nature comes, you never know.
01:08:17Mother Nature changes the equation real quick.
01:08:20And there's systems building in the Atlantic right now.
01:08:24I'm just hoping they get there after the double-head.
01:08:26What do you think?
01:08:27If the wind blows towards the first base dugout like it did a lot of years at Space Coast,
01:08:34I think Rufex has a legit chance.
01:08:37If it blows like it did last year or stops like it did in the evenings,
01:08:42you can't defend a ball over the fence, right?
01:08:45Yeah, as soon as it becomes to where it's just not automatic.
01:08:49Like, right, you know, in normal conditions, 1 through 11 in Resi's lineup,
01:08:55damn near automatic.
01:08:56You know, most of those guys, automatic.
01:08:58Like, you're not gonna, you can't, they don't have to think.
01:09:01You know, you gotta get a lead and you gotta get pressure on them.
01:09:03They have to be thinking about their bets.
01:09:05They have to be thinking about it in some form or fashion.
01:09:07They're just blowing them out, ballgame.
01:09:10But, if you get the wind blowing in or something along those lines where,
01:09:14or you get, you know, a wind blowing in even just to start it,
01:09:17just to get, you know, just for them to think a little bit,
01:09:20and you can get a little bit of a lead, it'll change the whole equation.
01:09:23You know, and I think, I think that's really the hope, you know.
01:09:28I mean, otherwise, you know, you're not gonna beat them at that game.
01:09:32You know, you can't beat them at that game.
01:09:34They're built for that exact day.
01:09:35Saturday, October, they're built for that, you know.
01:09:37So, but I think there's, it's Florida, and it's hurricane season,
01:09:43and it's not, it's not crazy to think, you know,
01:09:46we might get wind blowing in to the first base dugout.
01:09:49And if that happens, I don't, I don't, I think Rufex becomes a big favorite.
01:09:55Res Mondo's a big favorite right now.
01:09:57Any conditions, I think Rufex becomes a big favorite.
01:09:59And so, you know.
01:10:00Rufex can't play like they did at the conference championship, though.
01:10:04They were trying to blow it out, and they got beat by Dirty Vegas.
01:10:09What's up, Joe?
01:10:10I think, I heard this thing where it's like,
01:10:15the best team all year usually doesn't win the championship.
01:10:19And it's like, and then I'm like, but Res Mondo.
01:10:22And honestly, that still holds up, because that Dan Smith year,
01:10:26Res Mondo waxed empty.
01:10:27And then, and then Res Mondo had to double dip, bad draw.
01:10:31And then, I think it was last year, the first time that they were like,
01:10:35for sure the number one, and they're just going to like, wax everybody.
01:10:40And like, what was that other year?
01:10:43Was Juno the number one seed that year?
01:10:46No, Juno, Juno wasn't the number one.
01:10:50But that was a bad ball year.
01:10:51They ended up winning the major.
01:10:53Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:10:54Ryan Harvey's warning track power won the game.
01:10:57Like, it was unbelievable.
01:10:59And it was like, those balls were atrocious.
01:11:01Maybe we should just do that.
01:11:02We should just deflate the balls, you know, all over again.
01:11:04You know, make it even.
01:11:06But it's, it's, it's, ugh.
01:11:10And it's such a tricky time, too, because like, by this point,
01:11:13like, if you're, like, if you're not used to the softball,
01:11:16or like, if you're a little over it by this point in the season,
01:11:19most dudes, you can see it in their eyes, they're softballed out.
01:11:23And I'm here like, this is not the time to be softballed out.
01:11:26Or, Joelle, or they're thinking about next year, too.
01:11:30That's a big, big thing this time of the year.
01:11:33And that's one of the things I can't stand about the way everything works
01:11:36in the conference is that, like, a lot of these guys, you know,
01:11:39they're having to deal with who they're playing for next year.
01:11:41Like, teams are contacting players to talk about next.
01:11:44And, and it's like, it's so bad etiquette to me.
01:11:47Like, like, I mean, it's just such a grimy feeling, like,
01:11:50reaching out and contacting a guy on another team,
01:11:53and asking him to not only come play for your team next year,
01:11:55but replace a guy that you're trying to win a championship with this year.
01:11:58Like, that is just asinine to be doing that, you know, to be, you know,
01:12:03like, that's one of the things that, you know,
01:12:06I like about the way we've done straight play is that we, you know,
01:12:10we've never turned over our roster.
01:12:11Like, we've always made adjustments.
01:12:13You have to when you're going up, but, you know, to be talking to guys
01:12:16about replacing a guy on your current team,
01:12:18and then expecting to go out and win a championship like that.
01:12:20Like, and you know, the softball, those rumors spread, like,
01:12:24And that's why, that's why Rismando teams over the years
01:12:28have a little bit of an advantage, because a lot of those guys know
01:12:31they're coming back to Rismando.
01:12:33There's no question that's important,
01:12:36and it could be on the minds of teams that are playing against them.
01:12:39Hopefully, everyone can set it aside,
01:12:41and I'm asking everybody on message boards, Facebook,
01:12:45hold off till after the major, then talk about 2025.
01:12:50We'll have, we'll have our normal Wednesday show
01:12:52after the major to talk about rumors for 2025.
01:12:56Respect the sponsors for this year,
01:12:59because they've put in a lot of, a lot of money and effort into these teams.
01:13:04Yeah, I think, I think if we could get the game there,
01:13:06I mean, I don't think you'll ever be able to fully stop it,
01:13:08but I know there's other, there's certain sponsors out there
01:13:11that are making very specific offers and, and very, you know,
01:13:17nice offers to hear, you know, right now.
01:13:21And it's like, aren't you trying to win?
01:13:23I mean, do you have any faith in the guys
01:13:25that are currently taking the field for you?
01:13:26Because it's just bad faith to be doing that.
01:13:28I know.
01:13:29The guys you have on your squad, and I mean,
01:13:30how can you expect those guys to play for you, play hard for you?
01:13:33How can you expect the guys next year to play hard for you
01:13:36when, when you're doing that to the guys you got on your team this year?
01:13:38It's just crazy.
01:13:40It's not a situation that's easy,
01:13:44but we went a little long with the show to wrap it up.
01:13:47Joelle, give us your wrap up.
01:13:48And, and Danny, you never did tell us what straight play is,
01:13:51and how you're involved in it.
01:13:53But go ahead, Joelle.
01:13:55Yo, shout out to Corny and DeMarini for believing in me
01:14:01and helping me with absolutely everything I ever needed.
01:14:04Shout out to all the boys at Sports Reach.
01:14:06Yo, we battled all year round.
01:14:08Great job, guys.
01:14:10To everybody who's handled all their personal issues and all that,
01:14:14and even the dudes that we did play.
01:14:16Like, yo, I'm so glad that this year was, like,
01:14:20one of the few times where we could fight it out on the field.
01:14:24Uh-oh.
01:14:28Hey, great job.
01:14:30Fist bump.
01:14:31Like, hey, good job.
01:14:32I don't want to fight you later.
01:14:33I don't want to do something dirty to you.
01:14:35I don't want to, like, it's one of those things where it's like,
01:14:37I'm not going to lie.
01:14:38I used to do that.
01:14:39I used to hold it, used to simmer on it,
01:14:41and used to bring it back.
01:14:42And, like, yo, I'm glad that it's, like,
01:14:44a safer spot where you could bring all of your tenacity
01:14:47and all your competition in between the game,
01:14:49in between the lines, and then leave it there.
01:14:52Like, it's nice.
01:14:53I like that.
01:14:54I kind of like the little politics and the little
01:14:56skimmy-grindy things, because, like,
01:14:58those dudes out themselves.
01:14:59Those dudes out themselves.
01:15:01You don't want to gel with your squad.
01:15:02You want to just buy your wins.
01:15:03You want to cut.
01:15:04You want to shortcut.
01:15:05You want to do all those things.
01:15:06You got to lose.
01:15:07You got to lose, and you got to have those painful-ass losses.
01:15:10You got to have those L winger losing the glove over the fence
01:15:14type losses to come back and be a champ like how they did.
01:15:18No, you got to be, you got to go through that emotional,
01:15:21like, turmoil to become a champion.
01:15:26Yeah, and that's why the USSA championship
01:15:29is the most prestigious.
01:15:30Danny, you're going to tell us what straight play is
01:15:33and how you're involved.
01:15:34And there's a comment on the Facebook comments from,
01:15:39it looks like Mark Valencia, so maybe Matthew Valencia's
01:15:42dad or brother or something.
01:15:44How can we overlook Chief Suits, who's handled Bay Area all year?
01:15:48That's true.
01:15:48They have won three tournaments, so they're definitely a factor
01:15:51in the A. But yeah, Chief Suits' success has been, look,
01:15:56I was actually thinking about Chief Suits after I went through
01:15:58the A. So, you know, Chief Suits has like real champions on
01:16:03that roster.
01:16:04Nico Guillen, Carlos Abrego, my brothers.
01:16:08We won one together last year.
01:16:10Like, those guys are going to show up and they're going
01:16:11to bring it.
01:16:12So I definitely am not overlooking Chief Suits, but I think
01:16:15the argument against them is a lot of their success has been
01:16:18in these West Coast events on 300-foot fields.
01:16:20We all know Florida's a whole different ballgame.
01:16:22So Chief Suits is going to be there and I didn't overlook
01:16:26him. I apologize for that because that was in my mind.
01:16:28As far as straight play, straight play is the number one
01:16:35double-A team in the conference computer point rankings.
01:16:38That's pretty much where we'll go with that.
01:16:43As far as shout-outs, straight play all day. Shout-outs to
01:16:48JJ with Rebel, Cholo and My Little Jack and LA Empire for all
01:16:59the help, you know, and all the, you know, when we do this,
01:17:02man, with the sponsors like with JJ and Cholo, I'm blessed to
01:17:06have partners that, you know, have been there through, you know,
01:17:12the bad times and keep their word, man.
01:17:14Like, it's so hard to find guys you could trust in this game
01:17:17and, you know, as far as from a sponsorship side of things,
01:17:20like you hear so many different wild and outlandish things
01:17:24from things that, you know, other sponsors are offering players
01:17:27and, you know, other sponsors what they'll bring and, you know,
01:17:30it's so hard to sift through all the, you know, all the noise
01:17:34and find the people you can trust and, you know, I'm blessed
01:17:38to have built, you know, the partnership JJ and I built last
01:17:42year going into last year.
01:17:43We were building a team together and it didn't end up working
01:17:46out, but we, you know, went into the season separate, but we
01:17:48were always working together, talking throughout the year
01:17:51and, you know, we always had this vision and, you know,
01:17:54he's just, man, he's a hell of a dude and as good as they
01:17:57come, you know, and so we, you know, going into last year
01:18:01we had this plan and so big shout-out to him.
01:18:03Like I said, LA Empire, anybody looking for to get uniforms
01:18:08or apparel or anything like that, check out your boy on the
01:18:11West Coast with LA Empire, man.
01:18:13He's got the dopest designs in the game.
01:18:15He's up and coming, straight play aligned.
01:18:18And like I said, straight play all day, man.
01:18:20We're coming for it in Florida.
01:18:21We're excited to get out there.
01:18:22I know the boys are ready.
01:18:25I can't wait, can't wait to get out there and watch these
01:18:26boys compete and Joel, good luck to you, my brother.
01:18:29Yeah, thanks for coming in guys and good luck at Worlds
01:18:34and we'll get you guys in the booth at the major for, I
01:18:37need some color analysts at the major.
01:18:40So we'll get you back in the booth and straight play, went
01:18:44in AA last year and the AA this year would be impressive,
01:18:48right? And then you could take your swing at the major
01:18:52too, because you guys play like a major team sometimes.
01:18:55If we win the AA, I think, you know, that is definitely
01:18:59the plan.
01:18:59If we, you know, like the way I want to conquer every
01:19:02division, the side is on the AA.
01:19:03So that's what we're going to focus on, but I can see
01:19:05that happening.
01:19:06Yeah.
01:19:07All right, guys.
01:19:08Thanks for tuning in, everybody at home for watching.
01:19:11You can check this out on YouTube and Facebook afterwards
01:19:15if you didn't see it live and we'll see you guys in Florida.
01:19:19Hopefully no hurricanes.
01:19:25Take care, DW.
01:20:55You know,
