00:00Former Prime Minister Datuk Shri Najib Razak told the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Wednesday
00:09that the SRC International Board of Directors did not verify matters pertaining to the company
00:15with him, but took the words of the former company CEO instead.
00:20Najib said SRC International was one of the many Minister of Finance-incorporated companies
00:25involved in national interest-related projects at that time.
00:29He said he was not in the position to micromanage the companies, and it appeared to him that
00:34the former SRC International CEO Nik Faisal Arif Kamil might have been playing both sides.
00:42He said Nik Faisal would present that matters had been decided by the board, while presenting
00:47to the board, Nik Faisal implied that he had directed matters.
00:51He questioned why the board directors, including Tan Sri Ismail Ismail, did not bother to verify
00:57things with him directly, but merely accepted the words of Nik Faisal.
01:02He denied that Nik Faisal was the link between the company and himself.
01:06He added that there was no reason for him to direct the board through Nik Faisal.
01:11Najib said this when testifying as a defendant in the SRC International's suit against him
01:16and Nik Faisal, who is still at large.
01:19SRC International is seeking damages, interests, costs, and a court declaration that Najib
01:26is responsible for the company's losses due to his breach of duties and trust.
01:32The company is demanding that Najib pay back US$1.18 billion in losses that it has incurred.
