00:00Yeah, plenty of excitement, pretty much had a crappy loss a couple of weeks ago.
00:06We've really ripped in training last week with the boys, they really helped us, so that
00:10was awesome as well, but as a team we've come from all different clubs and we're pretty
00:14much in the inaugural competition, made it here now and it's been a really good feeling
00:18for the girls, so it's really good.
00:20But even though you've come from all different clubs, there's so many male and girls involved.
00:24Yeah, it's really good, you know the girls that live in Currie played at Currie, it was
00:29B grade, I come from Newcastle and that as well, so it's really good to be playing for
00:33our home club now and literally being in our backyard.
00:37It feels like the team's just been part of the structure forever, really fitted in well
00:43and the fans have really taken you to heart.
00:45Yeah, it does and the club's been really good to us, the sponsors, the committee and the
00:50boys have really got us involved, so like you said it feels like we've been here forever
00:54which has been really welcoming, so it's good.
00:57The game itself, I've got plenty to say about that.
01:03It's come a long way, pretty well since 2015, 16, 17, so it's really good now that the pathways
01:10are here at this club, personally it's been really good, we come here on Mondays and some
01:15weekends to really help with the girls, so that's really good, but yeah I suggest to
01:20anyone who wants to give footy a crack to really come to this club.
01:24Plenty of junior clubs around here who can play football and come here and learn from
01:29the senior team and like you said the boys have been in the competition for quite some
01:33time so we've actually been lucky enough to have the support from them and they give us
01:39some tips and that and they supported us on the weekend to get us through, so it was really
01:43nice.
01:44It was a big turnaround last week.
01:47Yeah, it was a massive turnaround, I don't know, we didn't show up, our preparation that
01:52was fine a couple of weeks ago but we just didn't turn up but I think after losing since
01:58round 7 the girls may have been overly too confident so I believe that we needed that
02:03loss and having two weeks off as well, it's been really good to pretty much have the loss
02:09and now we've had a 44-10 win so I think the mindset shifted for the girls and they really
02:15know what they've got to do this weekend.
02:17And even though you didn't show up in the first half, you pushed it right at the end
02:20didn't you?
02:21So it's a nice match-up, it's a pretty tantalising game.
02:25Well it was unfortunate that we actually started playing footy in the last 10 minutes, it was
02:29a little bit too late by that stage to try and put the points on but the scoreline wasn't
02:33that bad, it was only like 20-12 so for only playing 10 minutes of footy in the back end
02:38you know the scoreline wasn't that bad so we really did show up in the last 10 but you
02:44need to be there for the whole 70.
02:46And the team's confident?
02:47Yeah, well we're not overly confident but I think after training with the boys in that
02:51last week and just having that different mindset, we all know what we've got to do and we're
02:56training pretty hard so yeah I believe we can get there on the big stage after.
03:01And how nice is it to lead the team around and to be going on to Macdonald Jones Stadium?
03:06Yeah it's amazing, I've played there before, a couple of the other girls have, sometimes
03:09the nerves will get in the way of that for some of the other girls but I've just told
03:12them to be pretty calm and it's really good to lead a team that my friends and the girls
03:16who I've played with before but it's really lucky to have the coaching staff that we do
03:20at this club.
03:21Unfortunately I was injured for quite some time, gave up footy and all of a sudden here
03:24I am, I'm back in my own backyard so it's really good and touch wood that no injuries.
03:29So this is your first year back, that's incredible.
03:31Yeah first year back, I travelled last year and then the year before that I played unfortunately
03:36for West but I follow Russ, he's obviously here as a coaching staff so I seem to end
03:40up wherever Russell does but it was good to be able to get him at Maitland, he was at
03:44Raymond Terrace before here when I had the year off but he's been in like three or four
03:48grand finals in the last three or four years so clearly he's a really good coach, he's
03:53so determined and what he does outside of football and training is just above and beyond
03:57so it's really good.
