In this interview, Sienna talks about what drew her to the character of Laura in the film and about what she hopes the audience takes away from Laura’s journey and the choices she makes. In Strangers, Sienna Guillory is Laura, a woman is seeking revenge on her abusive husband, when her life takes a dark turn when she meets a mysterious hitman. Drawn into a whirlwind romance, she spirals into a dangerous vigilante spree. As the body count rises, she begins to unravel the true nature of her partner and the secrets they both conceal. Jon Voight and Jamie Bamber star alongside Sienna Guillory in the film.

00:00I was terrified by the idea.
00:03So I, which, so I was so, I kind of,
00:07I had three days prep to do this role
00:10and I looked at it and I looked at the breadth of it
00:12and I thought, we need to shoot this in 18 days
00:15and she's in every scene apart from four.
00:17So that's a lot of learning and it's a very clunky script.
00:22And I thought, I'm terrified of this, I'm gonna do it.
00:26I don't know.
00:27And I felt like, I felt like I loved the fact
00:32that she was unhinged and I wanted to play her
00:37as an optimist, someone that wants to escape her life
00:40and find a new life and find a way and has a, you know,
00:44has this belief in herself really, you know,
00:49through her AA meetings.
00:51And I kind of, there was something about her I loved,
00:55her dorkiness, obviously she's very brittle,
00:58she's very malleable, she's really easy to push around,
01:02but at the same time, she has a fighting spirit.
01:04And I think where I relate to Laura as a woman
01:10is when I find things terrifying, I jump at them.
01:14I kind of go, right, I'm gonna give this my full attention
01:17and all of my heart and all of my everything
01:20and see if I can make it work.
01:22And I think that that was kind of how I saw Laura.
01:27It's like, you know, there's no time to hesitate.
01:30There's a very strong realization that, you know,
01:33you're a woman and life is short.
01:35And if you don't get out there and grab it
01:37and do the things that need to be done,
01:39then they won't be done.
01:40Lovely, lovely actors.
01:43John was amazing.
01:44I mean, John Boyd's a legend and he, I mean,
01:48he wrote all of his scenes, which was brilliant.
01:53And he, you know, felt a real connection, I think,
01:55to his role, because he's a real sort of father figure.
01:58And I think that was very personal to him.
02:02But he was, you know, he's a very gentle
02:04and very immediate and present actor.
02:08So it was wonderful to work with him.
02:10And Jamie's extraordinarily bright
02:13and it's just with you, you know,
02:15you kind of try and discuss things
02:16and try and figure out ways of making things work,
02:19you know, and he's on board, you know,
02:22he's a great actor.
02:23There wasn't any time to prepare for anything.
02:26It was literally a matter of looking at the words
02:30and hoping that I know them and saying them.
02:33It was like doing a cold rehearsal, every single take.
02:38So I kind of used the adrenaline of that,
02:40but also because of, we didn't have time
02:43to do multiple takes on anything.
02:46So because of the setup, they would shoot me first
02:50and then by the end of it, I'd be like,
02:52but now I know how to do the scene.
02:53They'd be like, too late, we're moving on.
02:54I'd be like, damn, you know, but I just went for it.
02:58I think he really, really enjoyed
03:01having such an experienced crew.
03:04The crew that we have in Sophia,
03:06they were just unbelievable.
03:10I mean, the cameraman was, he never put the camera down.
03:14He was there, he was on it, he was with it.
03:16His lighting was extraordinary.
03:19Everybody was working, you know, quickly trying,
03:22we're trying to do costume fittings
03:23in between offline camera.
03:25I'm trying to learn stuff and trying clothes on
03:27and taking off a bra and putting on another one.
03:30And it was just, I mean, it was like a circus performance.
03:33It was ridiculous.
03:33And Tony, you know, managed to keep cool and keep calm
03:37and keep things going.
03:38And I'd be like, just one more, one more take.
03:41He'd be like, no, it's fine, let's move on.
03:42I'd be like, okay.
03:44So I just had to trust with him, you know.
