00:00Donald Trump is speaking out on an alleged assassination campaign against him by Iran.
00:04The former president spoke at a campaign rally in North Carolina Wednesday.
00:08As you know, there have been two assassination attempts on my life
00:15that we know of, and they may or may not involve, but possibly do, Iran.
00:24But if I were the president, I would inform the threatening country, in this case Iran,
00:30that if you do anything to harm this person, we are going to blow your largest cities and the
00:36country itself to smithereens. We're going to blow it to smithereens. You can't do that.
00:41According to The Hill, Trump's campaign said Tuesday that he was briefed by the
00:45Office of the Director of National Intelligence on real and specific threats from Iran to
00:49assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States.
00:54And CNN and ABC News had already reported in July that Trump's secret service protection
00:59had actually been increased prior to his shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania,
01:03in anticipation of attacks by Iran. But so far, it's not clear if either of the
01:07actual attempts on Trump's life were connected to the Middle Eastern country.
