00:00Can I ask you what your name is?
00:01Yeah, my name's Peter Day.
00:02And what's been going on here this evening?
00:04So tonight we've had a meeting at the Greenfields Church
00:07and the meeting was really about and primarily about crime within the community.
00:11There's been some recent serious incidents within the community.
00:15One was the theft of a moped which was dumped in the local recreation ground
00:19and one was attack on a young member of our community
00:23which was filmed by another child whilst it was taking place.
00:28The community have quite rightly been outraged by those actions
00:32and a meeting was called to actually just discuss those
00:35and to consider options that the community could take
00:38and also pressure that they could bring onto the services that are supposed to support us.
00:43Thankfully the town council were here tonight but the police were missing from the meeting.
00:48So following on from this meeting what we intend to do is
00:51we intend to bring some pressure to bear on the community support policing that's for this area.
00:58PCSOs and also the community support officers.
01:02We also are going to be completing the police and crime commissioner survey
01:07and actually bringing issues from this community meeting to that survey and saying
01:12look if you want the community support the community was here
01:15you need to attend and come along and get that community feedback.
01:18However difficult it might have been for you to face that criticism
01:21and those complaints from the community we really need the police to support it.
01:25The feeling has been that there's been a lack of response to various items or
01:32victims not being spoken to.
01:35I think that it's still highly unusual in this area of the level of crime that's just taken place.
01:42I suppose the seriousness of the crime not the level of crime.
01:45Having said all of that though I think the community are very disappointed
01:49by the police's response and the fact that there doesn't really seem to have
01:54been a great deal of response.
01:55There's been recovery of things from so the moped was recovered from the park.
01:59The police there was CCTV evidence in the community about the moped.
02:05There was actual knowledge of the attackers of the crime that took place in the park
02:11and yet we've not seen any action.
02:13The family of the boy who was attacked in the park
02:16are still waiting to get the police to go and actually speak to them.
02:20You know we're just saying that's not on we need action.
02:24you
