00:00Again, for a full list of my NFL picks, or sorry, for my CFL picks, Three Down Nation.
00:17We have the best bets piece that is up.
00:21For those of you who are hanging out live right now, going to throw that in the chat.
00:27Those are the best bets for the CFL week this week, so not going to go point spread-wise
00:33or anything like that, and again, trying to limit the old gambling talk on the old Twitch.
00:38But for podcast listeners, there will be a Today's Ticket at the end for an exclusive
00:42one there.
00:43But, let's run through.
00:44Tonight, it is Winnipeg, taking on Edmonton.
00:47This game is back in Winnipeg after it was the Bombers beating the Elks in Edmonton last
00:52week, and I struggle to see how Edmonton is going to fare better in Winnipeg.
00:59It doesn't get easier to play in Winnipeg as the season goes on, so I think that there
01:03is a real confidence that Winnipeg is going to be able to do this thing.
01:08And then, looking at this, I, like, you knew Winnipeg was on fire, right, like, figuratively.
01:15You knew that the Bombers were playing some very good football right now, or at least
01:19winning some very important games.
01:22But they put up a graphic the other day.
01:25Was it them or was it the CFL?
01:27Um, shoot, I think I went to the wrong spot.
01:30But they have, like, on this six-game winning streak that they're on right now, one of the
01:35wins was against Hamilton, which doesn't mean shit, but they have two wins against BC, two
01:40wins against Saskatchewan, and if they win today, it'll be two wins against Edmonton
01:43in a seven-game winning streak.
01:45So not only are they winning games, but they are winning season series, and just putting,
01:52like, every team that is even considering being in a playoff spot right now in the West,
01:58they are running through, and winning with, um, relative, uh, I was gonna say relative
02:04ease.
02:05They had to battle against Saskatchewan in both of those games.
02:07But still, they are winning those games very impactfully.
02:11And so to be able to sweep the team that's in second place, sweep the team that's in
02:15third place, and potentially sweep the team that's in fourth place, quite impressive in
02:19a seven-game win streak.
02:21And Winnipeg, I still, I don't know what is holding me back from fully giving them their
02:25flowers this year, but I am on the bombers this week.
02:28BC taking on Hamilton.
02:30One thing that's really intriguing about this game is that both defenses have actually started
02:34to play pretty well.
02:35I did a mini-deep dive in that article that I posted there from 3down about how well,
02:41um, BC's defense has played since Matthew Betts has come back.
02:45They would be, uh, by points, they would be, I think, the second or third best defense
02:48in the league if that point total over the last little bit played out.
02:52And like, passing-wise, the most passing error they've allowed in a game is 268 in the last
02:56three games.
02:57Like, they are playing very, very well defensively.
03:00And so, I think that they're gonna be able to somewhat limit a pretty high-powered offense
03:04out in Hamilton right now.
03:06And now on the other side, the Ticats defense is playing pretty well.
03:09They bottled up Chad Kelly again last week, and, uh, gave up 30 points, but still only
03:15allowed, um, it was at least under 300 passing errors in that game.
03:18So, I think certainly something to look for is how well these two teams play defensively
03:25in this spot, even though both offenses certainly have a lot of players that you would want
03:29to highlight.
03:30Ottawa taking on Saskatchewan.
03:31Uh, like I said, there's a breakdown for 3down Nation.
03:34Also, you can see behind me the Ryder jersey and the Ryder Rey Mysterio mask.
03:38Shout out, no copyright laws in Mexico.
03:40Um, but, I, um, taped the Ryder Happy Hour podcast.
03:45It came out yesterday.
03:46So there's a little bit more in-depth on that game.
03:48But I do think that right now, Ottawa is struggling both offensively and defensively.
03:52Offensively, they're struggling to put up points.
03:55It's 21 or under in three of their last four, and 12 points in two of their last four.
04:00And defensively, basically every starting linebacker for that team is hurt, and they
04:05are giving up a whole lot of rushing yards to teams that, when teams run the ball.
04:09Montreal just doesn't.
04:10Um, and so I think when you look at the Armstead factor in all of this, when you look at the
04:16struggles that Ottawa is having, um, in protecting the football and all of that, I think that
04:20there is a really good job, a real good opportunity here for Saskatchewan to make it two wins
04:26in a row.
04:27Who would have thought?
04:28And lastly, Montreal against Toronto.
04:30Very interesting matchup, because Montreal, I said like, oh they're back on track.
04:33And then you watch that game, it's like, well, are they?
04:37Like defensively they play great.
04:38But offensively, it's still, it's not clicking in the way that it was before.
04:43And like, no Phil Pott is going to do that.
04:45But I think as Fajardo kind of, again, re-acclimates himself to this offense after getting hurt,
04:51and figures out like, okay I can do this with Rambo, I can do this with Reggie White Jr.,
04:55I can do this with, um, Gennarion Grant, I can kind of bounce these guys around and do
05:01it all kind of this way.
05:02I think that's going to get a little bit better.
05:04And Toronto, defensively, they've kind of been gashed up quite a bit lately.
05:09And so I think they have some issues.
05:11They do defend the run pretty well, but I have it in my thing, Montreal doesn't run
05:16at all.
05:17Like, Walter Fletcher has fewer carries than AJ Ouellette, and AJ Ouellette has played
05:22once since Joe Biden stepped down.
05:25Um, like, he's barely played at all.
05:27The two are not correlated.
05:28I would...
05:31Just from what I believe, I think AJ Ouellette might feel the opposite about it, you know
05:33what I mean.
05:34Anyway, this is not a team that runs the ball a lot.
05:38And so Toronto's one strength, Montreal kind of goes away from.
05:41So I do think Montreal gets the rogue win.
05:44Also they're undefeated on the road.
05:45So there is your CFL talk for the week.
