00:23Welcome to the Neutral Buoyancy Lab at the Johnson Space Center in Houston this
00:34is the largest indoor pool in the world and contains a full-scale replica of the
00:38International Space Station with a support staff and a control center
00:43incredible
00:48come dive in
00:53a lot of training
01:03assisted by a team of support staff our astronauts practice here for their
01:07upcoming missions to the ISS look how much equipment they got on a brother if
01:15they wasn't in space and weightless
01:19it's like 5,000 pounds or something no more than that tasks include the repair and
01:28maintenance of crucial equipment as well as practicing zero-g maneuvers in their
01:33bulky spacesuits
01:38imagine if you got claustrophobia brother you're inside of the
01:44astronaut thing it's already heavy and then on top of that I'm under the
01:52damn water too oh my god the worst thing that can happen to you buddy is that
01:58water gets all that's how you can tell it's super airtight man if any water
02:05gets into that then you know it's not airtight and you know it can't survive
02:10they have to learn how to work in space
02:22but the time our astronauts perform a real spacewalk they will have spent more
02:27than 100 hours practicing inside the MBL
