00:00This is the moment Israeli fighter jets bombed Beirut, deafening explosions as huge plumes
00:08of smoke engulfed the skies above.
00:12Israel's military immediately claimed responsibility, saying it had targeted Hezbollah's leader
00:17Hassan Nasrallah amid unconfirmed reports the group's figurehead and leader may have
00:22been at the site.
00:25A potentially catastrophic blow to the U.S.-designated terrorist organization, which has already
00:30seen a number of its military commanders targeted in Israeli assassinations over the past week.
00:37As first responders picked their way through mounds of smoking rubble in its southern Beirut
00:41stronghold, entire buildings in this once-quiet residential street have been pulverized.
00:47But at one point, first responders recovered a little girl, her tiny, dust-covered body
00:53held tight as she was rushed to a nearby ambulance, where she appeared conscious with
00:57only a few cuts.
01:00Barely an hour before the strikes, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received
01:05a mix of boos and applause as he entered the U.N. General Assembly Hall, where several
01:13delegates stood up and walked out before he gave his address.
01:17And we'll continue degrading Hezbollah until all our objectives are met.
01:24Israel has begun massing troops along its northern front and appears to have rejected
01:29a U.S.-backed 21-day ceasefire deal with Hezbollah to temporarily end the fighting, as the death
01:35toll from Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon continue to rise.
01:40And tonight, the White House has said that President Biden has told the Pentagon to,
01:44assess and adjust U.S. forces as needed across the Middle East.
01:49He's also telling his team to make sure that American embassies here in the region are
01:53taking protective measures.
