00:16..similarly, plants too have different parts for different functions.
00:21Interesting, isn't it?
00:23Let me tell you what the important parts of a plant are.
00:28Leaves, bud, flower, stem, fruit and roots.
00:37Let's take a closer look at the buds..
00:39..that protect the baby flower or the baby leaf..
00:43..from the harmful elements of nature.
00:45This is a flower.
00:48It is the most beautiful part of a plant.
00:52It's usually colourful and attracts bees and other insects.
00:58These are the leaves.
01:00The leaf is one of the most important parts of a plant.
01:04It has a green pigment called chlorophyll..
01:07..which absorbs the sunlight and makes food.

01:23A fruit is a part of a plant that contains excess food and seed.
01:28All fruits might not be sweet and edible, but is still a fruit.
01:37And sometimes, they also help the plant to disperse their seed.
01:44This is a stem.
01:46A stem acts like a pillar of a plant.
01:50It holds the plant upright and carries water, food and minerals..
01:55..to the parts of the plant from the roots.
01:58The roots help to absorb water and minerals from the soil..
02:02..and also acts as an anchor.
02:05When the winds are too harsh, the root makes sure..
02:09..that the plant stays firm in the soil and doesn't get carried away.
02:15Trivia Time!
