Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Salleh turned up at the Jasin police headquarters in Melaka on Sunday (Sept 29) morning to record his statement following a police report lodged by Sarawak DAP.

The Umno Youth chief was accompanied by three lawyers and left after an hour.

00:00Police recorded a statement from UMNO Youth Chief, Datuk Dr. Muhammad Akmal Saleh,
00:05at the Jasin District Headquarters on Sunday following a report lodged by the Sarawak DAP.
00:11Dr. Muhammad Akmal, who is also Merlimau Assemblyman,
00:15said his statement was regarding the halal certification issue.
00:19We have given a good statement to the police and I would like to thank the police
00:24for carrying out a very good investigation.
00:28My response is that these are very sensitive matters
00:34that we have reminded many times.
00:36If we want to maintain the harmony of our country,
00:40these sensitive matters cannot be directly touched.
00:44And my statement is a statement of retaliation
00:47to the statement issued by the YP,
00:51we do not attack anywhere.
00:53He said he was prepared to face anyone who wishes to challenge him in court over the issue.
00:59On September 12, the Sarawak DAP lodged a police report on the politician's remarks,
01:05alleging that it could cause racial division.
01:08The police report referred to his Facebook post,
01:11urging DAP to educate veteran Teresa Kok on proper conduct
01:15as her remarks on the issue had drawn criticism.
