00:00Gates about to drop here, 30 minutes plus two. Prado again, but Siwa, oh he came very close to him.
00:10Is that Prado down? It might be, and Geiser I think is off the side of the track here.
00:15Yes he is, he might get penalized for that, I don't know, but he did, you know, come in slowly from around the back,
00:23but looked like he had nowhere to go. Sure the FIM will look at that, but Prado either way is leading
00:28from the front, just as he did in race one. He is all but home and dry, yeah there's 30 minutes plus two laps to go,
00:34but with what he did in race one. If it goes like this, penalty or not, it won't matter. Exactly.
00:40Hurling's emerging in second position, so the middle gate's working for him. Febre there in third, Siwa in fourth place.
00:46Then we got Gio, Koldunoff, Renault, Geiser in eighth. Febre made it work though, Febre was up the inside,
00:51and yeah, so both extremes really worked, but it's so interesting to see all of the top guys go to the outside.
00:57It was Ferrato that went down, I'm sure we're going to get another look at the replay of the start in a few moments time,
01:02but Jorge Prado leads the way here, the fans absolutely on their feet.
01:07You're going to see Ferrato try to stop on the inside where everybody's sliding, and remember they're going down a hill
01:12into that first corner, it makes that corner so much tighter for the guys on the inside, and Ferrato couldn't stop.
01:19Well in terms of the championship, you know, we did say there'd probably be a little bit more of a sting in the tail,
01:24what did they have up his sleeve, well we didn't expect Geiser to go off at turn one, and re-emerge in turn two.
01:31Track is really slippery right now, they put some water down, so you can just kind of see them being a little bit hesitant.
01:37Geiser finding his way past Valentin Gio, from one Honda rider to the next, the unwritten code if you like,
01:44different teams, but don't get involved in the championship battle.
01:47So up into fifth place, Tim Geiser, right, watch this, Geiser, middle of the gate, next to Hurlings, gets squeezed by the bullet,
01:59does he get pushed wide, yes, just off the side of the track, couldn't, ideally he should have gone left and then back around the first turn.
02:09It's going to be hard to avoid a penalty there I think.
02:11I think so.
02:13From what we've seen, from what we've seen this weekend.
02:15You know, Geoffrey Hurlings went around the outside at turn one and re-emerged at the bottom of the hill and got the three place penalty.
02:20At best it's going to be a three place penalty potentially for Geiser, who knows, but there was an opportunity,
02:26the FIA might look at it and say to go left, the other side of the Fox hole shot line to rejoin in turn one,
02:31but when you're in the heat at the moment, you're fighting for the championship, the red mist is down,
02:34you're already annoyed that you've been, you know, forced off the track there however,
02:38and Tim Geiser, I don't know, it's obviously a decision not to come by us.
02:42Sure.
02:43The riders behind him went back to the left, that's the toughest part of all of it.
02:46And that's probably what will be looked at as well, well if they could, you know what I mean,
02:50but, you know, Tim, a great guy, a great champion and an absolutely fantastic human being as well.
02:55Cruel luck in China with that broken foot peg that's put him on the back foot coming in this weekend.
03:01To have a penalty, potentially a three place penalty,
03:04The only silver lining will be if nothing changes here, Prado goes on to win the race,
03:07it really won't matter, where it's going to get really dicey as if something happens to Prado,
03:11he crashes, then it's really close in points, chaos will reign in that scenario,
03:15that you will see a crowd come unglued here, if something like that happens,
03:21but so far so good for Jorge Prado.
03:23He's doing what he always does, get the start, manage the race from the front.
03:26And it's tough to argue and compete with a rider like Prado when he's in that kind of form, isn't it?
03:30You know, another foxhole shot, 18th for the year.
03:36And here, in front of the home fans, here's the showman, just wants to put on a show for them,
03:41that's what they paid to see this weekend,
03:43that's what they paid to see this weekend,
03:45that's what they paid to see this weekend,
03:47that's what they paid to see this weekend,
03:49just wants to put on a show for them,
03:51that's what they paid to see this weekend,
03:53that's what they paid to see this weekend,
03:54so far he's not disappointed.
03:57And I'm interested to see how Jeffrey Hurlings approaches this race,
04:00we watched him yesterday in the Ramp Qualifying Race,
04:04really be patient, he didn't want to add pressure,
04:06he certainly wasn't going to make a move, he showed that to us on the last lap,
04:09so I don't know what changes here in Race 2,
04:12does he want to go out winning the last race of the year?
04:15He's going to have to make some decisions,
04:17I don't know if that's already been preordained within the team or not,
04:20but certainly the internal struggle of I want to go win,
04:24versus we need to make sure we bring home a championship.
04:26Well I'll put it this way, we've got, as long as Jorge is ahead of Tim,
04:30he's going to be crowned world champion,
04:31so from that side, Jeffrey Hurlings,
04:33he's also fighting for a podium here,
04:35because he's a point behind Vepra,
04:36Vepra's going to be on the box with 38 points,
04:39Hurlings with that penalty in Race 1 that pushed him down to 6,
04:42he's fighting for a podium here, third overall,
04:45he's on 37, so that would change,
04:48he would move to 40 the same as Tim if he gets his way to the front,
04:51that bumps Tim down to third as it stands at the moment,
04:54and Jeffrey Hurlings lined up, and every step of the podium counts.
04:58Yeah, you wonder if, I'm hypothesizing here,
05:02but stay behind him, wait, make sure everything's all good,
05:05couple laps to go, then go, right?
05:07Yeah, championship's set, you got it from here,
05:10I'm going to go for the win, I could absolutely see that happening.
05:15Trying to keep straight faces down there in the Red Bull garage,
05:18as Jorge Prado manages a 1.5 second gap over Jeffrey Hurlings
05:22towards the end of lap 2,
05:24Roman Fevre down there in third place,
05:26just behind him for Kawasaki Racing Team, MXGP.
05:30I promise you that Roman Fevre doesn't care about the championship at all,
05:33he wants to go win the race, so...
05:35But look at the champions, we've got Prado,
05:37a three-time champ heading for a fourth title at the moment,
05:40Hurlings, a five-time champ, Fevre, a world champion,
05:42Geiser, five titles, all in the first four places.
05:46That is a lot of experience.
05:47Yeah, and Geiser's, you know, not too far back here, sitting in fourth.
05:54Using that bank just in front of pit lane, just to square up,
05:57that's a nice line there, riders were doing that yesterday,
05:59just not seeing too many doing it today, though.
06:01Yeah, he turned the fastest lap of the race last lap around.
06:03Two laps running.
06:06Homing in on Roman Fevre, does Fevre just move aside,
06:09or does he put up a fight here?
06:12Roman Fevre also chasing the podium,
06:14so I'm assuming that he's just going to say,
06:16no, no, no, you want to pass me?
06:17No, you have to go around me.
06:18Yeah.
06:19Watch this here, down the outside, past pit lane,
06:21just using the bank there,
06:23and that just changes the angle of the motorcycle,
06:25allows him to get tighter on the exit,
06:27and potentially set up a pass through turn two as well,
06:30with another tight move.
06:31And Fevre, I think he's going to know it's a 12-point gap, right?
06:35So in the big picture, nothing changes,
06:37him letting him by, nothing like that,
06:38so he's going to race his own race.
06:40Now, if Prado crashes or something like that,
06:42who knows how it all plays out,
06:44but right now, you just race what's in front of you.
06:48So Prado leads.
06:49Hurlings being a wingman for him at the moment on the Red Bull KTM.
06:53Geiser here for Team HRC.
06:57Trying to find his way past Roman Fevre.
06:59A tough nut to crack there, isn't he, as well, Roman Fevre?
07:01Doesn't mind these kind of conditions,
07:03haven't seen it so far from him this weekend,
07:05but he's there in third place.
07:07Siwa in fifth, Gio sixth, Korunov seventh,
07:09Fernandez eighth, Bonacorsi ninth, Maximino tenth.
07:12Then we've got Adonik, Panza, Lepina, Oslan, Tomcoc,
07:15Josh Gilbert, Kevin Brumman, Ferrato, Monticelli, and Mark Schuh.
07:19No Guadagnini lining up,
07:21he was assisted medically in the first race
07:25down the bottom end of the circuit,
07:26haven't heard as to the situation there.
07:29No Kevin Hornblow lining up at all.
07:31Sick before the weekend, bit of a fever,
07:33on antibiotics, not strong enough to ride here
07:35in these hot conditions.
07:36So get well soon, both of you guys.
07:40Prado, two seconds clear now of the bullet.
07:44Speed inch perfect, hasn't it?
07:46He has, yeah.
07:47And you never really know how close is he to the limit,
07:50you know, could he push harder.
07:52In this type of scenario,
07:54the one thing he doesn't want to do is take outside risk,
07:57so I'm sure he's riding within himself,
07:59but he also doesn't want to take risks
08:01and I'm sure he's riding within himself,
08:02but he also doesn't want to fall into the clutches.
08:04He sees Geisser back there, he sees Pepper back there,
08:06he doesn't want to fall into that
08:08because something could happen and the points get crazy.
08:11He's very comfortable staying where he's at,
08:13but again, this track is really, really tricky,
08:16so he's got to be minding risk and also,
08:18I mean, the fans going crazy, the championship,
08:21like imagine all of the thoughts in his head all at the same time.
08:23That corner, I want to see a replay of that turn,
08:25that long right-hander,
08:26because everyone else coming through there
08:28pretty much sitting down, I think,
08:29or they have been, he was just up on the pegs,
08:31and just that's how relaxed he is.
08:33So nice.
08:34Yeah, the motorcycle works so much better standing on it,
08:37letting the suspension do its thing
08:39versus compressing into it by sitting on it,
08:41so it's really a masterclass
08:43what it's been for the last two years
08:45of watching this guy do his thing.
08:47He's an incredible rider to watch.
08:49He makes it look easy,
08:50makes this thing, winning on these type of tracks,
08:54so incredibly difficult.
08:55He truly makes it look easy.
08:58Yeah, borrowing any mistakes now.
09:02Jorge Prado,
09:0321 minutes plus two laps away
09:05from being crowned
09:07world champion for a fourth time,
09:08back-to-back in MXGP.
09:10He was victorious with a round to go last year
09:12at the legendary, the iconic circuit
09:14of Maggiore in Italy.
09:17But here,
09:18the stage for him doesn't get any bigger.
09:20There could be five people here this weekend
09:22cheering for him.
09:23To win a world title at home
09:24would not be any sweeter than that.
09:26Fortunately, half of Spain have showed up today
09:29to witness Jorge Prado
09:31so far win a RAM qualifying race.
09:33To win race one
09:35and so far leading in race two.
09:39And he doesn't look like he's
09:41in any distress, under any pressure.
09:45Just looking very, very relaxed.
09:48Lisa Leyland is down in pit lane
09:50with Davide Di Carli.
09:52And I'm sure they're all smiles at the moment
09:55but trying to keep a straight face.
09:57Here's Davide Di Carli with Lisa.
10:01Davide Di Carli,
10:03I spoke to Jorge before the races.
10:05He seemed too cool for school.
10:06He's looking immaculate.
10:08Really, how is he feeling?
10:10What feedback has he given you
10:11before today's races?
10:13Oh, actually, I know Jorge is...
10:16Normally, he holds the tension
10:18from the pressure.
10:20He's good with the pressure.
10:22But I know the pressure is there
10:24because we are fighting
10:26until the end of the last moto.
10:28So it's not easy.
10:31In the team, all good.
10:33We are relaxed.
10:35We don't want to give
10:37so much pressure to him.
10:39Because I know it's not easy.
10:41But during this weekend,
10:43it's been good.
10:45Already yesterday, first moto,
10:47amazing start.
10:49Also now, he made a really good start.
10:52At the moment, he's leading.
10:54Hopefully, he can stay like this.
10:56Without taking any risks.
10:58What would it mean to the team
11:00for him to get his second world title in MXGP?
11:04For me, he needs to keep riding like this
11:07without taking any risks.
11:09We will see at the end of the moto.
11:12You don't want to speak too soon?
11:13No, I don't like it.
11:15Best of luck to the team.
11:17Smart answer that from Davide Di Carli.
11:19While we were watching that interview though,
11:21Jeffrey Herlings has started to play his cards.
11:23Because he is homing in
11:25or he was down the bottom end of the circuit.
11:27I just wonder if that's a little bit of gamesmanship as well.
11:29You know, kidology.
11:30Just yesterday, he knew he could
11:32get the better of him if he needed to.
11:34But depending on who you listen to,
11:36he was maybe informed to hold back.
11:38For now.
11:39And obviously, in the second race here,
11:41yes, everything is looking good.
11:43But Jeffrey just getting close.
11:45And he looked like he was about to man the challenge.
11:47But now he's sat back again.
11:49So, interesting games list from Jeffrey Herlings.
11:52Jorge Prado, though.
11:53Not phased one iota.
11:55I think he was also kind of sending a message,
11:57like, hey, we have to go a little bit.
11:59Because Fevre is coming.
12:00And Geiser is coming behind him.
12:01We can't take it too easy here.
12:03So, I do think Jeffrey will make a run for the win
12:06later in the race.
12:07But I think that was just a little warning sign.
12:09Like, hey, you can't slow the pace down too much here.
12:11Because I'm getting pressure from behind me.
12:14Roman Fevre on his 200th Grand Prix start this weekend.
12:18Eyeing up a third overall this weekend
12:21in the final Grand Prix of the season.
12:23Can he make it happen?
12:24Because Herlings is breathing down his neck.
12:26Only a point between.
12:27So, again, you know,
12:29if there have been some unwritten rules laid out
12:33between these two,
12:34of course, you want to get Jeffrey Herlings
12:36on the podium as well, don't you?
12:37I think he's going for it here.
12:38He needs to take the win.
12:39I really do.
12:40I don't think he's waiting anymore.
12:41It feels early.
12:42But you see him going in every other line.
12:44But where Jorge is,
12:45if he wanted to stay behind him, he would.
12:47He doesn't look that way to me.
12:50He'll be public enemy number one
12:51if he finds his way past Prado.
12:53Good luck getting out of here tonight.
12:54That's nothing new for Jeffrey.
12:57Although he has toned it down a bit
12:58since his MX2 days.
12:59That's true.
13:02Remember that Malpo coming in?
13:05Arnett Tonus.
13:06Yeah.
13:07A few.
13:08Yeah.
13:09This one's starting to just
13:12juice up a little bit, isn't it?
13:13There's Herlings now just starting to
13:16wind it up a little bit.
13:17He senses Pfefferer starting to close in.
13:19So we do have a six-wheeler going on here.
13:21Geiser, though, the fastest man on track.
13:23Fastest lap of the race.
13:24A 1.52.7 on lap six.
13:30Geiser's going to need to do more,
13:32though, because that...
13:33Oh!
13:34Oh!
13:35The first mistake we've seen from Prado.
13:37He can't get back on the track.
13:38Geiser is back there as well in fourth position
13:41and he lines up behind Prado.
13:43And Prado looks across and says,
13:45No, you know what?
13:46You go.
13:47I'll let you go.
13:48I've had my time at the front.
13:49I'm going to do just enough from now.
13:51That was a big mistake from him
13:52and it was one that probably just spooked him
13:54to the seat of his pants.
13:55That was literally the no-moss moment right there.
13:58He was pushing,
13:59wanted to go for the win,
14:00but he just realized that was too close to the edge.
14:04So I think it's been written out
14:05with 16 minutes to go.
14:07Jorge Prado.
14:10Just a bit of a heart-in-the-mouth moment there.
14:13Not only did he wet her wings,
14:14but he wet them all.
14:15He wanted nothing to do with that.
14:17That's about as decisive as a
14:18you-guys-go-ahead moment
14:19that you're ever going to see.
14:22So lap seven.
14:25Jorge Prado relinquishing the lead.
14:28He just got spooked coming out of the turn.
14:30How much of that was upping the pace?
14:31Because Jeffrey was there upping the pace.
14:35Just a little misreaction for the back end of the bike.
14:37Just sent him offline through the ruts
14:39in a place that he didn't want to be.
14:41Off the side of the track.
14:42He was right on the edge of the jump as well, wasn't he?
14:44And then couldn't do anything about it.
14:46Watch this here.
14:47He gets spooked just here.
14:50And then off the side of the track.
14:53Goes off, goes to the inside of the water pipe
14:55but wanted to get back on track before the signage.
14:57Watch his rear wheel catch traction right there.
14:59Yeah, that's...
15:01And they're already tramming at that space as well.
15:03You know, at that kind of speed.
15:04Look, he just wanted to get back on here.
15:06He trials rode his way down.
15:08Fevre came through.
15:09He looked back.
15:10He saw Geiser.
15:11He said, you know what?
15:12I'm prepared to sit here.
15:13I mean, he might take a look.
15:14A couple of laps to settle down.
15:15Later on, he might try and push back again.
15:17But he's still going to win the overall Grand Prix though
15:20with a 1.4 by a point over Geiser.
15:24Hurlings and Fevre now will be tied.
15:26Fevre will be losing out in this final Grand Prix
15:29as it stands right now.
15:30I think there's also part of that is a personality aspect.
15:34For Prado, he's not a rider that takes chances.
15:37He does not push the limit at all.
15:39If that was Jeremy Seward, no response.
15:41Jeremy Seward keeps going like nothing ever happened.
15:44But for Prado, that is very, very out of character
15:46to make that big of a mistake.
15:48So that's why you're seeing such a decisive change
15:51in his race course.
15:52He's like, you know what?
15:53I don't need to take these type of risks.
15:55Not only am I going to win the World Championship,
15:56I'm also going to win the GP.
15:57So you guys have at it.
16:01This is also pivotal that Jeffrey Hurling's penalty
16:03in the first race as well.
16:05That changes the podium as well.
16:08But it has been a fascinating season, hasn't it?
16:102024, it was a season that kept on giving,
16:12to turn up, you know, for the second time
16:15in what, two or three years?
16:162021 was the last time when you had
16:19Jeffrey Hurlings and Roman Fevre
16:21coming into the final round,
16:23the final two races of the year,
16:24three points apart.
16:26Hurlings got the better of Fevre in that first race.
16:28They went into the final race tied on points
16:31to have a similar situation coming into this one.
16:33Okay, seven points was a slightly bigger gap.
16:35You get qualifying race points as well now on a Saturday.
16:38So it grew a little bit there.
16:40But you've still got a little bit of
16:43that unknown, haven't you?
16:44That unknown tension.
16:45We just saw that mistake from Prado a moment ago
16:48that all of a sudden releases Tim Geiser.
16:51Gives him a couple of points back.
16:53It's not going to be enough though, is it?
16:54We saw the gap, 10 points
16:57with 13 minutes to go.
17:02Yeah, that 2021 weekend,
17:03that was such a clutch performance from Hurlings.
17:05Mantova, just, I mean,
17:07he really dominated the entire weekend.
17:10Of course, it was helped when
17:13Fevre
17:15flipped coming out of that turn,
17:17went off the back end of the motorcycle,
17:19but he still had to maintain his own composure,
17:23which is exactly what he did.
17:26Tim Geiser,
17:28he's there in third place.
17:29Roman Fevre,
17:30all of a sudden looking interested
17:32because he's one and a half seconds behind Hurlings.
17:34Just hit the fastest lap of the race, 152.703.
17:38Fevre would love to leave here with a win,
17:39make Antti and the boys in green smile,
17:43exiting Spain.
17:44It's been a rough season for Roman Fevre.
17:46A lot of people looking at him
17:47to get back into championship contention.
17:50A lot of frustration this year.
17:51Prado was the fastest lap in race one,
17:53a 151.471.
17:56So, is there potential for that to be
17:58improved by Fevre in this race too?
18:01Otherwise, the Achilles' fastest lap will go to Prado,
18:05who already has that competition locked down
18:09with 13 Achilles' fastest laps so far.
18:12Will it be 14 for the Spaniard?
18:14And you can see he's already dropped
18:15five seconds off the pace,
18:16nine, ten seconds off of Hurlings
18:19after that mistake.
18:21It was just a little warning sign.
18:23And he had a huge gap back to see
18:25where he looked around and said,
18:26you know what, a really comfortable spot
18:28to be right here.
18:29He's got an eight-second gap back to see
18:31where he'll be able to manage.
18:33It's not exactly how he would have drawn up race two,
18:36but he's mature enough to understand the situation,
18:39calculate the points.
18:40And that's also the cushion that he built up,
18:44winning the ramp qualifying race on Saturday,
18:46winning race one on Sunday.
18:49This is what he's allowed himself.
18:52Bonacorsi is going to be picking up tenth
18:53overall in the championship.
18:55The rider that started at round five in the championship
18:57after being bumped up from the MX2 factory team
19:00into MXGP,
19:01because Brian Bogers, he's in 22nd place,
19:04and he's not been circulating since lap two.
19:07So Brian Bogers will not add any more points.
19:09He's going to finish the championship 11th.
19:11That's a story all by itself as well,
19:12because he came in at round three in Sardinia
19:15at the expense of another rider.
19:16He didn't have a ride in the winter,
19:18or he did, but it let him down.
19:19And he didn't come in with any training,
19:21no prep, no nothing.
19:22And went and got a job for a living,
19:25you know, working in construction,
19:28working in the plastering industry, you know.
19:31And so to come back as a factory rider
19:33and do what he's done,
19:34Brian Bogers, he'll be pleased with that 11th overall
19:38in the championship, as I'm sure Fantic are as well.
19:40But this weekend, not working out for him.
19:42Rough ride in race one as well
19:44to finish in 14th.
19:46No score in this race.
19:47Yeah, a bit twitchy there for Tim Geiser.
19:49Handlebars snatched out of his hands
19:51just at the wrong moment.
19:52Really square-edged bumps coming through
19:54some of these sections.
19:55Television really doesn't do it justice,
19:56but the bikes are jumping all over the place.
19:58And the bumps are so hard at the base
20:00that the suspension really doesn't want to soak them up.
20:04Well, he was coming in
20:05on the back of two home Grand Prixs,
20:08going six for six,
20:09winning the Ramp Qualifying Races
20:11on all of the who went down there.
20:13We just saw a yellow flag a moment ago.
20:15Was it Hurling's Feather, or was it Geiser?
20:17Not close enough.
20:19Might be Geiser?
20:20No, there's Geiser there.
20:21No, there's Geiser.
20:22So maybe it was a backmarker, a lapper.
20:26He would have, of course,
20:27wanted to make the clean sweep.
20:29Nine race wins in Spain
20:30in his home rounds this year.
20:33But that one moment,
20:34just spooking him ever so slightly,
20:36realizing, actually, you know what?
20:37There's more at stake here than a race win.
20:45But he has been,
20:47you know, when you look at the stats,
20:48he has been the standout performer this year,
20:49hasn't he?
20:50More race wins, more Grand Prix victories.
20:52Podiums have been up there as well.
20:54More laps led.
20:55Yeah, and were it not for
20:57some of the wetter races of the season
20:59where he really struggled,
21:00it felt like,
21:01it felt early on like he was going to
21:03absolutely run away with this championship.
21:05And he had some really tough weekends there,
21:07gave a bunch of points back.
21:09But in the end, he's,
21:10you know, he's done it when it counts.
21:12And we can't discount the misfortune
21:15that Tim Geiser had in China.
21:17That is an absolute big part of this story.
21:19But that's motocross racing.
21:21Things like that are going to happen.
21:24Jorge Prado at home.
21:26The final Grand Prix is on the verge
21:28of a fourth world title,
21:30back-to-back titles in MXGP.
21:32Enjoying the last dance
21:35here on European soil in 2024.
21:41As are many other people in the paddock.
21:45He's actually stayed pretty close to Geiser here.
21:47I'm surprised he has not dropped back further.
21:50You don't know how hard Geiser's pushing either.
21:52He was actually on the rear wheel
21:54of Febbra and Hurlings earlier,
21:56and he's dropped eight seconds to them.
21:57So maybe he's just sensing
21:59championships kind of slipping away here.
22:01It's hard to focus and kind of
22:03bring your best stuff to the game
22:05because there's so many emotions
22:06right now for Geiser too.
22:07I was going to say that.
22:08Tim Geiser now realizing
22:10the opportunity of that sixth world title
22:13is slipping through his fingers.
22:15He hasn't got the pace to chase Febbra and Hurlings.
22:17He's 11 seconds, 12 seconds off the lead.
22:20And the risk versus reward,
22:22knowing that Prado is just behind him as well.
22:24He knows the gap.
22:25He knows the points.
22:26And he knows even if he makes one pass,
22:29it's not going to be enough.
22:30Two passes is not going to be enough.
22:33Jeffrey Hurlings though, leading the way.
22:35Two seconds clear for Jeffrey Hurlings.
22:38What a season he's had.
22:41First of all,
22:42he's lined up at every single race of the season
22:44the first time since 2012.
22:46Yeah, which is,
22:48it's amazing that he's had such success
22:50with that stat, a part of it,
22:52world championships with that stat involved.
22:54But, you know,
22:56Jeffrey Hurlings is one of those riders
22:58where his star shines the brightest.
23:00It also flames out early in some of these seasons
23:03just because of the incredible pace
23:05he's able to put out.
23:06But yeah, this is a big step
23:08in the return of Jeffrey Hurlings
23:10he's making every race.
23:11204 career race wins so far.
23:13Can he round out the season?
23:15205?
23:17Or will Robin Fevre
23:19keep chipping away and have a word?
23:23Who's chasing his 49th race victory
23:26on his 200th Grand Prix start.
23:30Jeffrey's done a great job
23:31of really improving his hard pack skills.
23:33Everyone knows how capable
23:35and how dominant he's been in the sand.
23:37But some of these races,
23:39harder pack where there's really low traction,
23:41tracks that he wouldn't have grown up
23:43spending a lot of time on.
23:44I think his time going to British Championships
23:47and really expanding his horizon,
23:49I think it's showing up on days like today.
23:51He has an incredible track record
23:53in tracks like Turkey.
23:54I just, looking for
23:56at this stage of his career
23:58to still be developing is impressive.
24:03Yeah, now that he's got up front,
24:04Jeffrey Hurlings
24:06doing what he does as well.
24:07Controlling things from the front.
24:08Looking pretty comfortable there, isn't he?
24:10And I would say doing just enough
24:11to stay ahead of Robin Fevre
24:12because, you know, everybody
24:14knows they've got a big race
24:16next weekend as well.
24:18Just round out.
24:19Don't do anything stupid here
24:20at the final round.
24:21You know, things looking good.
24:22Why would you want to go spoil it
24:23on something stupid?
24:24The track is so tricky, right?
24:27To push the edge on this track right now
24:29is not a really rewarding proposition.
24:33So, yes, I would agree with you.
24:34If Fevre comes up and adds pressure,
24:36he would start pushing more,
24:38but he's only going to push
24:39as hard as he needs to.
24:41So, Tim Geiser here.
24:42Team HRC,
24:44third at the moment.
24:46Take a look at the start here then,
24:48I believe.
24:49Tim Geiser in the middle of the gate.
24:53He's squeezed there with Hurlings.
24:54Hurlings drops it across the front of him here.
24:57And Geiser,
24:59just there,
25:00he had to straighten up.
25:01He went off the side of the track,
25:02so he probably carried a little bit of speed there.
25:08That's where he re-emerged.
25:09He did lose positions on the way out though,
25:11because he was there with Hurlings,
25:12wasn't he, at the time, so.
25:21So, Geiser then.
25:23At the moment, nothing coming up.
25:26It's unfortunate to get away with that one, I think.
25:30But that would have been cruel as well.
25:34But I think just from the body language now,
25:36he's backed it off.
25:37His lap time,
25:38last time around in the 54s,
25:40this one,
25:41probably a little bit slower than that, I would imagine.
25:44Just the body language.
25:45Looks like he's in cruise mode.
25:46Yes, he's still pushing relatively hard
25:48just to maintain that race pace.
25:50But with less than five minutes plus two laps to go.
25:53He knows now, barring any mishaps
25:55from the rider behind him, Jorge Prado,
25:57just here,
25:59the championship is all but done and dusted.
26:02Too much to do,
26:03with not enough time in the race,
26:05not enough rounds left in the championship.
26:08How he would love a 21 or a 22 round series
26:11just to try and claw back a few more points here.
26:13But,
26:14Prado,
26:17up until that one little mistake earlier,
26:20where he looked so in control,
26:21he was just getting pressured by Jeffrey Hurlings.
26:24But apart from that,
26:26Prado, that swing of 21 points in China,
26:30a round ago, two weeks ago.
26:33He turns up here with the championship leaders,
26:35Red Plate.
26:37Watch this moment here.
26:38Gets on the gas, he's already hooked another gear.
26:41He's already on the pipe.
26:44Goes up the side of the track,
26:45he can't brake because there's so much loose rubble there.
26:48He looks back, sees Fever go by,
26:50he looks back, sees Geiser there,
26:51and says, I'm not going to challenge you.
26:53I think what really worried him,
26:55that mistake completely caught him off guard.
26:56He did not see that coming.
26:58Unfortunate there for Alessandro Pino.
27:02But for a rider who's always in control,
27:05the way Prado is,
27:06when something catches them like that with a surprise,
27:08that's unnerving for him.
27:10That's why I think why you saw such a strong response.
27:12It's like, I'm done.
27:13You guys go ahead.
27:15If it's a rider that rides on the edge a lot,
27:17they're used to having that sketchy moment.
27:19It's not such a big deal,
27:20but that is not Prado's game at all.
27:22He's actually got a little bit of company
27:24from Jeremy Seward here as well.
27:25I don't think he'll necessarily care.
27:27The overall for the day is in question.
27:30That's one thing.
27:31So we'll see how he responds to that.
27:33Yeah, because he's only got a point advantage over Geiser.
27:35So the top three in the championship
27:37are going to finish first, second, third
27:39on the overall classification.
27:41Prado, Geiser, Hurlings, 43, 42, 40.
27:43Fevre with 40 points as well.
27:45Just missing out.
27:48I'm sure everybody down there,
27:50and you know what?
27:51That pre-grid, I'm just thinking now,
27:53that pre-grid with Davide Di Carli.
27:55How would you feel?
27:56What would it mean if Prado wins a championship?
27:58What would it mean to you and the team?
28:00I don't know.
28:01He just needs to maintain his focus.
28:02Too early to think about all that.
28:03We don't think about that
28:04until it's time to think about it.
28:06About a lap after that is when he had his moment.
28:08Insightful, for sure.
28:10Insightful, absolutely.
28:16I don't think Seward is going to up his pace.
28:23To try and do anything about Prado.
28:25I don't think he's going to want to spoil the party.
28:28But urged on every inch of this racetrack,
28:30Jorge Prado.
28:31You know, the fans have come out, haven't they?
28:33In their tens of thousands.
28:34No one heading out of the gates at the moment.
28:39They want to stay to the very end.
28:40They want to witness history in the making.
28:48Geiser heading down the start straight
28:49in the opposite direction
28:50as Prado hits the final turn.
28:53Interesting little psychological thing here
28:55for Prado and Geiser, right?
28:57They've been battling for this championship
28:58all year long.
29:00And you wonder, which side,
29:01which will this stick with longer?
29:03Will Geiser losing, barely losing the championship
29:06stick with him longer?
29:07Or will the joy of winning the championship
29:09with Prado stick with him longer?
29:11I always find...
29:12Oh, Vevra tips over.
29:13Oh, that's unfortunate.
29:15You can see the shake of the head there.
29:16I think he had a big enough gap
29:17where he wanted to lose the position.
29:1814 seconds he had.
29:19So it's just a little tip over.
29:20He'll pick himself up in second position.
29:24Just watch this.
29:25In the right-hander.
29:26Just chasing the front.
29:27Thought he was going road racing there
29:28with a knee out.
29:29He's going for the race win there.
29:30He's pushing with a few laps to go there.
29:32Yeah, he was closing in on Jeffrey,
29:34but just asking too much at the front end.
29:36Or maybe to try...
29:38Maybe trying to turn too tightly in that turn
29:40when the rut didn't allow.
29:43That's the corner here.
29:45And you got to commend...
29:46I mean, he wants to go win, right?
29:47He hasn't had as much success as he would like
29:50this whole year.
29:51So to win the final race of the season,
29:53but at least give him some hope
29:54and he'll get to go to Cross Nation
29:55and start the 2021-2025.
30:17Just like it was in race one.
30:23You know, what I was thinking about with Geiser is
30:25in seasons like this,
30:26I think he'll think about it all off-season, right?
30:28Had I given Bonacorsi more room in China,
30:31you know, what could I have done differently?
30:33It comes down to such small margins
30:35and so many things happen throughout the course
30:38of this long of a season.
30:40You know, I think it's kind of understated.
30:43The agony of losing a championship
30:45when it's really close is a really hard thing
30:47for a lot of riders to get past.
30:50Jeffrey Hoerling is not getting any younger.
30:5230 years old now.
30:53How many more years has he got at the top, potentially?
30:56I don't know, 30?
30:57Every time I think, you know, he suffers an injury,
31:00something goes wrong, I'm like,
31:01well, it's probably downhill from here.
31:03He comes back.
31:04The guy refuses to let things get him down.
31:07And he races nearly every weekend
31:09somewhere around the world.
31:10He's in all these domestic championships.
31:12The guy truly loves racing his motorcycle.
31:16Two to go for Jorge Prado.
31:20The stars have aligned for Mr. Perfect.
31:25Final Grand Prix, when it was announced
31:27as being somewhere in Spain,
31:30you just knew, you sensed,
31:32if he's in with a shout,
31:34if he can't get up for that race,
31:37then, you know, he almost doesn't deserve
31:39to be world champion, you know,
31:40but no problems in the first two Spanish rounds
31:43in Madrid and, of course, in Galicia, Lugo,
31:45his hometown.
31:47But coming here with the championship leader's red plate,
31:51he only had one thing on his mind,
31:54win the world championship.
31:55If you win the Grand Prix as well,
31:57another cherry on the cake.
31:58That's exactly what we're going to get here.
32:00The podium will be off the scale.
32:02The Prado, Prado chance will be full voice.
32:07Well deserved.
32:08And very well deserved.
32:1117 race wins for the season for Jorge Prado,
32:16who's getting closer to that fourth world title.
32:21It'll be his 11th Grand Prix victory
32:24of his career, of the season.
32:27It'll be his 49th, he'll fall one short
32:30of that 50 of Joel Ribeiro.
32:34They talk about everybody knew
32:35when that Spain event was announced.
32:37I think everybody that had to race against Prado
32:39in the championship that fancied themselves
32:41winning this all groaned collectively
32:44because they know what Jorge Prado in Spain means
32:47and it means performances like this.
32:49Not necessarily race two,
32:50but he has been such a dominant performer
32:53on home soil.
32:54He really leaves no air for anyone else.
33:00About a minute and a half stand in the way
33:01between Jorge Prado and the Czech and flag.
33:04A second world title in MXGP.
33:06How sweet will this one feel?
33:09When he crosses the line on Spanish soil,
33:11the red clay dirt here, it goes up.
33:16He's been in this position three times before,
33:18but never in a situation where the prospect
33:21of winning at home was ever a possibility
33:26or a reality.
33:29Joel Smets, a five-time world champ,
33:30keeping an eye on things in the background there.
33:33But this is a celebration lap.
33:35It's a parade lap now for Jorge Prado.
33:38He's really starting to enjoy himself.
33:41He doesn't feel the pressure from Siwa.
33:49And he is now about a half a lap away
33:54from his own little piece of history once more.
33:57Rewriting the record book,
34:00according to Jorge Prado.
34:04Tough for him here.
34:05He wants to explode emotionally, right?
34:07He's got to execute a few more corners.
34:10Siwa's right behind him.
34:12Jeffrey Hurling's out of the final turn.
34:14He will win his 205th race
34:18with victory in race two here in Spain.
34:20Roma Fevra will cross the line.
34:22He's been in this position three times before,
34:24but never in a situation where the prospect
34:26Roma Fevra will cross the line in second position.
34:28Tim Geiser will be third.
34:33But Jorge Prado,
34:35getting ready to cross the line.
34:38One more turn for Prado.
34:39The Red Bull Gas-Gas Maxi Rider
34:42wins his fourth world title.
34:44He wins in Spain.
34:45The place erupts.
34:48And Jorge Prado
34:50has delivered
34:52this weekend on home soil.
34:55Four world titles,
34:56back-to-back in MX2.
34:59Ruben Fernandez,
35:00one of the first to congratulate him.
35:02But let the party begin.
35:06An absolute pandemonium scene again down here.
35:11And Jorge Prado...
