00:00Kids, what is sky? Everything that you see above when you're outdoors is the sky.
00:12On a clear day, sky above us looks blue, and we see white clouds in the sky,
00:21or no clouds at all. And sometimes we see darker clouds in the sky. Dark clouds bring rain.
00:35We can also see a lovely rainbow in the sky on a sunny day after some little rain showers.
00:43A rainbow has seven colors. Let's see different colors of a rainbow.
00:55There is an easy way to learn the colors of a rainbow. Here's the magic word.
01:02Vibgur. V for violet, I for indigo, B for blue, G for green, Y for yellow, O for orange, R for red.
01:25These are the seven colors of a rainbow. So just remember the word Vibgur, and you know
01:36the seven colors of a rainbow at noontime. We can see the sun shining bright in the sky.
01:47The sun is a huge ball of fire, so it is very hot. It gives us heat and light. Kids,
01:59you should never directly look at the sun. It can harm your delicate eyes.
02:06In the evening, the sky appears darker with pinkish or reddish color clouds.
02:14It is not very hot anymore. Now let's see how the sky looks at night time. At night time,
02:25we see thousands of stars twinkling or shining bright in the sky,
02:34and also a beautiful moon at times.
02:37Kids, do you know there are millions and billions of stars in the sky, and we can never count them.
02:48And do you know these stars are very, very big, even bigger than our Earth, but appear so small,
02:59because they are very far from our planet Earth.
03:04Kids, have you ever seen a moon in the sky? Does it seem in the same shape always? No.
03:14Sometimes you see the moon is round in shape, and sometimes its crescent and its shape keeps on
03:24changing. We will learn more on why it changes its shapes in our higher grades.
03:32All of the objects like stars, moon, sun that we see in the sky that are very far from the Earth
03:43are called heavenly bodies. There are millions and billions of stars in the sky,
03:51we cannot count them. The sun that we see shining bright in the sky is also a star, actually,
04:00but it appears to be bigger, because the sun is very close to our planet Earth as compared to
04:08stars. So remember, sun is also a star, but it is very close to our Earth,
04:18and the stars that we see at night are very, very far from our Earth. So we can say the closest star
04:33to our planet Earth is sun, and sun gives us heat and light.
04:40Now let's see, what is a galaxy? Collection of millions of stars is called a galaxy,
04:49and we also live in a galaxy, and the galaxy in which our solar system exists is a Milky Way galaxy.
