In der kanadischen Dramödie I Like Movies zieht sich der extrem egozentrische und alle Sozialkontakte meidende Lawrence (Isaiah Lehtinen) in seine Leidenschaft für Filme zurück. Durch seine Obsession gefährdet er nicht nur seine eigene Freundschaft, sondern auch seine Zukunft, die extrem davon abhängt, mehrere Tausend Dollar zu verdienen, um an seiner Traumuni aufgenommen zu werden. Dafür arbeitet er in seiner örtlichen Videothek, wo sich eine komplizierte Freundschaft mit seiner älteren Kollegin entwickelt.
