00:00It's been almost a year to the day since the heinous attack by Hamas on Israel,
00:04an assault which rocked the world and kicked off a retaliatory campaign that is still ongoing.
00:10Now one survivor, 27-year-old Shai Klein, who was able to escape from the Nova music festival
00:15where 364 Israelis were killed and 44 more were kidnapped, is dedicating his art to capturing
00:21and reclaiming not only his own identity, but helping the other 3,500 who survived the attack
00:26reclaim theirs as well. You know, the way we're spoken about internationally, abroad,
00:31on social media and news, it's a little dehumanizing as if we're just products or
00:37things and there's no identity to each of these 3,500 people who are still alive
00:42outside of being a survivor, you know? He says he has often been introduced over the last year
00:47as Shai, the Nova survivor, when he finds his real identity is being a photographer. So he's
00:53taking pictures of other survivors, hoping to give them back a piece of themselves as well.
00:58The Nova music festival had the performances put on hold the morning of the attack due to rocket
01:02fire, something Israelis are used to. So Klein says he started taking pictures instead, capturing
01:08snapshots in time of many of the survivors before and now after the day that changed the world and
01:13those who were there maybe forever. Well, I hope they all leave with a photo they're satisfied
01:19with and I hope they all leave with a little bit more self-confidence and, you know, strength
01:25having gathered here with all these other individuals who've been in a similar situation as
01:29themselves and, you know, I just hope that, you know, they can all find strength.
