00:00He goes on, whoever is able to not need to ask from others, Allah will make him unneedy.
00:10You stop yourself from asking people for loans, asking people for whether it's money or anything else.
00:18Don't go into that habit. Avoid it as much as you can, Allah says He will make him unneedy.
00:23The hadith from the Prophet ﷺ, the hadith is in Bukhari and Muslim.
00:27He said,
00:42The meaning of the hadith is as follows,
00:45The hand that gives is better than the hand that begs and receives.
00:50In other words, financial independence is better than financial dependence.
00:56The Prophet ﷺ goes on by saying,
01:19He also said ﷺ,
01:26Which is the best charity?
01:34After what you spend on yourself, your wife, your children, your dependents,
01:40whatever is left over that you don't need for your family and your livelihood,
01:44your shelter, your clothing, your food, your security and so on.
01:47Left over, the best charity you can give is from that.
01:51Why?
01:52Because there's a priority.
01:54Dependents take priority.
01:56And being obliged to spend on your dependents is more beloved to Allah.
02:01Because no one else is going to spend on them but you.
02:03Also, spending on your dependents is an obligation which is also considered a charity.
02:10In fact, it is the best charity of all charities.
02:13What is obliged is the best charity of all charities.
02:16He goes on ﷺ,
02:24Allah will make him unneedy.
02:27You stop yourself from asking people for loans,
02:31asking people for whether it's money or anything else.
02:35Don't go into that habit.
02:37Avoid it as much as you can. Allah says He will make him unneedy.
02:40Then He says,
02:41Whoever is satisfied, whoever is satisfied with what they have,
02:46Allah will bless their wealth and their wealth will increase.
02:51Or it also means whoever relies on their abilities,
02:55Allah bless them with and seeks financial independence,
02:58Allah will assist him in his seeking and his efforts.
03:02So what have we understood from this?
03:05A Muslim should be financially independent as much as they can.
03:08If they're not yet, then to seek it and to work and not sit and wait
03:12and use justifications and excuses that Allah is going to provide them without moving.
03:18And also not to beg and ask and get out of that habit.
03:22And also that your family and dependents are more worthy come in priority
03:27and it is haram to neglect them even in the name of charity to others.
03:32And that the best charity is to your dependents first
03:35and then the next best charity is what's left over of your wealth to others.
03:39And that obligation towards your family is a charity you get rewarded for.
03:44Abu Huraira says to the Prophet, peace be upon him,
03:47Who are those you said are the dependents, O Messenger of Allah?
03:50And he said, Your wife.
03:51So that your wife does not say,
03:53My husband, you have neglected me.
03:56So leave me.
03:58I can't live with you.
03:59Or your child says,
04:02You have left me barren and vulnerable.
04:04Where do I go?
04:06These are the words of the Prophet, peace be upon him.
04:08Allah says in the Quran in Surah number 4, verse 9.
04:11In Surah An-Nisa, he says,
04:31And let them fear those who,
04:41if they would themselves leave behind helpless children,
04:45they would surely have been fearful on their account.
04:49Let them then fear Allah and make the right statement.
04:53What does this verse mean?
04:55Allah is telling us that there is a legitimate fear
05:00of poverty upon your children and your family
05:04if you were to die and leave them behind
05:07with no financial resources or wealth
05:10that they can look after themselves when you die.
05:13This is a misconception among Muslims where they say,
05:15not this, there is a misconception among Muslims where they say,
05:18Allah will provide them.
05:21It is absolutely true that Allah will provide them.
05:25But Allah also has already provided us
05:29these resources and the ability to work
05:31and he commanded us to do that.
05:33So anything which Allah commands us to do,
05:36it means we take some of that responsibility
05:39and the responsibility is to do our part.
05:42In the end, if Allah provides you from or doesn't,
05:44that's in the hands of Allah.
05:46And everyone's provision is written,
05:48but you have to still work towards it.
05:50And even your working towards it is written.
05:53Allah facilitates everything fairly and justly.
05:56And the meaning of this verse is that some people before they die,
05:59they want to donate and give in charity all their wealth.
06:02Or they start giving their wealth to certain people than others.
06:06Or they name it for some of their children rather than others.
06:09Or they hide it or whatever it is.
06:11Allah is telling them,
06:13let them fear that they leave behind an offspring
06:16who will be barren and vulnerable.
06:19So fear Allah. Do you understand?
06:22Allah did not say give your wealth away and don't worry about your children,
06:25I will provide them. No, no, no.
06:26Providing comes in two ways.
06:28That Allah provides you without you asking
06:31and He also provides you with you doing the effort.
06:35The Hadith of Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is very clear.
06:37It says Allah will assist the person when they do the effort.
06:39Inheritance therefore is important.
06:42And how can you leave behind wealth for your children and family
06:47if you yourself are not wealthy and you yourself doesn't seek?
06:51Now we're not talking about people around the world who are disadvantaged
06:54because of the oppression and corruption of their governments
06:57or because of war or because of circumstances, disasters.
07:02Those people, they have to be patient and Allah will still provide them.
07:06We're talking about people whom Allah has given them security and safety in their land.
