00:33Hundreds of such medicines are being sold in the market, which are either harmful to your health or are completely ineffective.

00:49All the 200-300 plus medicines that have been banned, had a lot of irrational combinations.

00:59The Central Government has imposed restrictions on the right to sell and distribute medicines under Section 26A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
01:11The government formed an expert committee in 2014.
01:15This committee examined about 6000 special combinations of medicines sold in the Indian market.
01:21After the examination, a list of medicines was made.
01:24And about 344 medicines were banned.
01:28Among these 344 medicines, VIX Action 500 Extra, Nemosilide and Corex are also included.
01:34On which the government has imposed restrictions.
01:37In fact, the government has banned those fixed-dose combinations of medicines, which are either ineffective for the patient or are harmful instead of beneficial.
01:46There are a lot of medicines from antibiotics to painkillers to anti-allergic medicines.
01:52There are a lot of combinations in which 2-3 molecules and chemicals are combined in one medicine.
02:01There is no international rationale for these combinations.
02:05You will not find such combinations in any western country or any foreign country.
02:11After the government imposed restrictions, some pharmaceutical companies stopped the production and sale of medicines, which were banned due to the immediate effect.
02:20But against the government's decision, some pharmaceutical companies filed an appeal in the Delhi High Court.
02:27On such an appeal, the court has imposed restrictions on the decision of Corex.
02:32The decision of the Ministry of Health will have a positive effect on your health.
02:37But the decision of the pharmaceutical companies is harmful.
02:41The United Pharmaceutical Retail Market will face a loss of about 4%, which is equal to about Rs. 3800 crores.
02:49According to the Market Research Agency PharmaTrack, the American company Abbott will face a loss of about Rs. 485 crores.
02:56While McLeod Pharma will face a loss of about Rs. 370 crores and Pfizer will face a loss of Rs. 368 crores.
